Most family owned general contractors keep their license on average 5 years. True Builders has had theirs over 20! We had them come out and bid turning our office into a bedroom and converting the downstairs powder room into a full bathroom with a walk in shower. This would all be for my mom. With a post tention slab it is going to be a chore, but not one they cannot handle. They are are able to install an elevator for her as well. We also are looking into an option of building a Casita for her out back. They are license, bonded and insured at all times. They are not tight on funds where they find themselves in a pickle and need to cut costs by cancelling their insurance like many tend to do. This leaves you and your assets at risk if someone should get hurt on the job you will be sued. Our neighbor used them and I couldn't wait to find out how their experience was after walking by and seeing Tru-Buikder's sign up at their house. They were exceptionally pleased. They are very professional. You name it they can pretty much make it happen if the city allows it. I was very transparent sharing that remodeling is one of a few options we are looking into to make room for mom. The owner was still thoughtful to his time to put a quote together. We will receive it in 2 weeks. Their reviews and contractors history are very good. Being a general contractor and not a handy man business there is. $25k job minimum. Highly recommend getting a quote from them if you are looking to add on or remodel. read more

Tru Builders were the only ones of the 5 or so we got bids from that did not try to talk us out of what we wanted so they could something easier. Once we selected them, they communicated regularly about the start and how we would make our selections for fixtures, tile, etc. The process was smooth. When construction started their workers pointed out a way to make the process easier and they worked the change on the fly that day. We are pleased with the work and attention to detail as well as quickly addressing potential issues we pointed out. They were very patient with my questions, always providing a complete answer. If we need this type of work done elsewhere in the house, I won't hesitate getting them to do the work. read more

Worst contractor we have ever hired. The day he left, 9 weeks after he said he would be done, we hired a reliable contractor to jack hammer out the floor in our addition that was supposed to be brought up to grade. That alone with a half a dozen other poorly done jobs cost us an additional $5000. You'd expect for the $65,000 we paid him he would have cared enough to do the job right. read more

When we explained our ideas to Max and Cassie they listened, understood, suggested improvements, and brought every together in a plan that was far better than our original vision. My husband and I needed to enclose our laundry room and Tru Builders did a great job meeting my many requests. AC/Heat was pulled from the house and it's so nice using this large room year round. I'm now able to store all my extra dishes, appliances, etc. in the butler's pantry and there's plenty of room for my husband to keep his workshop area. They're also working on replacing all my flooring with beautiful EVP and I can't wait to see the results. They are very clean and communicate throughout the construction process. DO NOT use Tru Builders. I recently had them install a 1/2 bath in my apartment and am completely unsatisfied with not only the quality of their work, but also their lack of professionalism. I signed my contract with them in May with an expected start date of the first week in August. They were almost two months late and then charged me $1800 over the agreed upon price for an increase in material costs (they were late, not me). Their motto of "On Time and On Budget" is comical. They left my apartment filthy without doing even minimal clean up, charged me for installing flooring that they didn't do and didn't include me in even the most basic decisions involving the project. Save yourself the headache and frustration....DO NOT USE TRU BUILDERS!!!! read more

I don't ever post reviews, this could be my 1st! We called with water damage from a leaking water heater, the plumber provided by the warranty company offered a free assessment of the water damage. We didn't realize it, but he contacted a water restoration company that proceeded to frighten us with their fancy meters, about the extent of damage and "hard" sold us. We called Tru Builders for a second opinion, and we're glad we did! Without saying one negative thing about the other familiar company (a class act with integrity), it later became apparent that the other company was trying to take advantage. Tru Builders immediately came out and began to assess and fix the damage. They showed-up when they said that they would, completed the work in just a few days, respected our home and kept it clean, and they were all very nice! They really did a great job! They are very knowledgeable & professional, work very fast, are super easy to work with, they perform quality workmanship, and they completed the work much faster than what we expected. I will definitely refer others to Tru Builders! read more

Completely impressed with the work that Tru Builders did for us, whole house flooring. They helped me and my wife pick out the flooring, baseboard and paint. They made the whole process so easy. They have a handy online system that kept all of our job information in one place, they even had photos uploaded to us everyday of the process! Very user friendly. My wife and I had a one car carport converted into a two car garage at a rental property about two years ago. Max was lower in his estimate than the competition, so we chose Tru Builders. (Tru Builders had done a floor for me in the past, so we were influenced by past dealings for the much larger job). The floor turned out well. Max did not start the job until my wife and I left town for several weeks and he immediately ran into an issue with the pitch of the existing one car concrete slab. This I believe should have been allowed for in his estimate. When I asked how much additional it would cost me, he had no answer except it would be the additional amount charged by his concrete contractor. He was unable to tell me if would be $1000 or $10,000. The bottom line turned out to be $2300 additional dollars for concrete!! With me being able to charge an extra $100 per month extra for the garage, it would take me 23 months to make up that overage. That's nearly two full years!! There was no room for compromise on the overage amount as none was offered. His "lowest of three" estimate turned out to be the most expensive and I paid for and painted the finished product. In painting the finished product, I found several quality issues. All were corrected except one. I argued with Max that the sunken garbage can had a concrete apron surrounding it. He claimed there was none. I happened to check a satellite image and there was the concrete plain as day. I also found an old photo of the property and it shows in my pic. Tru Builders was also very strict on payment dates. When I tried to go to their showroom listed on the contract paper to make a payment, I found it did not exist. When I asked nearby employees where Tru Builders showroom was, they had never heard of them. I was told by their billing office they had converted to a home based business. In my opinion, that's a very deceptive business practice and is a good reason alone to avoid this contractor. The new concrete that was added (because of too much pitch) now is completely flat with shallow depressions which leave puddles the few times it rains here in Sun City. Had there been a zero star rating selection, I would have chosen it. Do yourself a big favor and shop elsewhere for your construction needs. read more

As far as the job that was done by the workers it was fantastic. The workers were on time, conscientious, polite, communicated what they were going to do each day. They did a super job, and as another customer stated, they protected all areas around their work, countertops, newly painted walls, floors, etc. All areas needing cleanup were done upon completion of their work for each day. They worked in a timely manner without cutting corners. We had no problem with the work that was done. However, when it came to dealing with management or office personnel, there was poor communication, calls were not returned in a timely manner, even though we were told we would receive a call back on a certain day. Scheduled times were changed with notice of only one day, that work was to begin the following day. Workers arrived when supervisor said they would, promptly and on time each subsequent day. However, no final walk-through was done by a supervisor at the final completion of the work. We were told by a supervisor on Friday that the work would be completed on Monday morning. No one showed up on Monday morning, so we made a call to find out where they were. Told that there was "another project" that needed completing. Then were told the worker would be here at 2 pm. The worker showed up promptly and completed the install of the dimmer and chip LED lights. The supervisor was to come by and do a walk-through "later that afternoon". We received no time of arrival, and never received a call telling us that no one would be here to walk through so we were left waiting as we had every day the week prior to see when we were going to be scheduled for our job. Again, no complaints regarding the workers, or their work. It was top-notch and superior, but it was more than frustrating and not professional to deal with the office staff telling us one thing, and promising return calls from the primary supervisor and then never hearing anything back. A younger supervisor had dropped in on Friday, and he was professional and friendly and checked on the work thus far. However, the primary supervisor responsible for our job did a poor job. His part of the communication process was poor and not professional in our view. read more
