This is a basic diner with a very large selection of menu items. We stopped in for lunch, and I had a ribeye on garlic toast. Tasty and simple. I wish I'd saved room for dessert, but was full after the sandwich and an order of pinto beans. Recommended when you want comfort food. read more

I enjoy visiting Ruth's for breakfast and lunch. I have never had a bad meal. The cheese steak and chicken cheese steak are amazing. They also have an awesome hamburgers. I think this is one of those places where you order a burger, fries and call it a day. They had fresh cut fries which were good. This has the potential to be a Great road side diner. We always passed this place but never went in until today. We got there just before the lunch rush, so we were seated quickly and greeted. We got cheese fries, but we had to wait 20 minutes for them, so when they came out- we got our food 5 minutes later. It's very cheap and pretty great for the price. We got an app, two entrees and two pies for $25. Our waitress seemed like she was in a mood but she was fine. Key lime pie was the tits. read more

I was not "wow-ed" by this restaurant! Just thought I'd stop by because we too, often road by this place many times before stopping to check it out! The first time I went was with some church members for lunch! It was just "OK" and I was not really sold/impressed! The next time I went, hubby and I decided to stop for breakfast..Where do I begin???? I ordered the pancake, scrambled egg, and bacon platter! It took quite a bit of time to get to our table and when it did, the bacon wasn't crispy at all, eggs were cold and looked chopped up with no seasoning to them and the pancake looked yellow and could have stood to be on the griddle a little while longer! We had hamburger steak mashed potatoes green beans and corn for one meal and club sandwich which was the heated variety and chips for the other. Both meals were delicious, and service was good. This was my first time at Ruth's Place on Dec. 30. After driving by many times and seeing the place with cars in front all the time we figured it would be a good time to try it out. My friend ordered the Liver and onions and a soup and I ordered the 10 oz. Ribeye steak special which came with 2 sides. The soup and my side salad came out first. My friend said his soup was very good and although my side salad was tiny (a little shredded lettuce, 2 grape tomatoes, 1 onion slice, and a little shredded cheese on a small bread plate) the Ranch dressing was good. When the main course came out my friend's meal looked good. Mine looked like road kill. My steak was tiny (absolutely not anywhere near 10 oz), way overcooked, and loaded with fat and gristle and smothered heavily in Montreal steak seasoning making it look thicker than it was. One end of the steak was rumpled and lumpy like a thick piece of bacon. My friend looked over at my steak when I scraped off the seasoning like I was stripping a piece of furniture, cut into the 1/4" thick well-done meat, and said that he was sure I wasn't going to like it since I stressed to the waitress that I liked my steak cooked med. rare at most and very red inside. I took one bite anyway and it was horrible. I pushed it aside and decided instead of making a fuss to just eat the fries and take the steak home, wash it off, and feed it to my dog. The French Fries were so overcooked (dark brown) and loaded with salt that I used the ketchup and a napkin to try to wash the salt off. I only ate them because I was extremely hungry. I also ate a piece of garlic toast, and I don't know how they did it, but it was also extremely salty. How do you make salty toast !!! I told my friend we would have to stop at McDonald's when we left so that I could pick up something to eat. The server came out and saw that I didn't eat the steak and asked if anything was wrong. I said " I'm sorry, I just can't eat this thing". She looked at it and agreed it was overcooked and asked if I'd like another one or something else. My friend was finished with his meal and I didn't want to wait and possibly get another disaster so I told her I didn't want anything else. She took away the steak. When she came back she said she would just charge for the little salad and the fries. I didn't say anything, but I thought that took a brass set of you-know-whats to break apart the special after serving me a disgusting steak and charge full separate prices since I would NEVER in my life waste my time and go into a restaurant and just order a tiny salad and fries. The bill came in at over 30 Dollars for an $8.99 Liver and onions meal, drinks, my tiny salad and fries and a piece of pie. On the way out to the car and driving I couldn't stop burping up the taste of that one piece of steak and those wrinkly, dark brown, greasy, salt saturated fries. When we passed McD's my friend asked why I didn't stop. I told him I wasn't sure if I could make it home without pulling over and throwing up. When I got home I stayed in the bathroom over an hour and a half for fear of moving and vomiting. By 8:30 I was feeling better and called Ruth's and told them that they should check the meat since I rarely ever feel ill after eating anything. The last time I ate food that made me ill was approx. 30 years ago. She stated that she served over 50 ribeye dinners that night and only uses the highest quality of meat and that it must be something else making me ill. I have cut and cooked hundreds of pieces of ribeye since I buy it in slabs and I would personally be beyond ashamed if I ever served anyone a piece of meat like that. I usually trim off a piece of meat like that and feed it to my dog. I told her I couldn't stop burping and get the awful taste of the steak and fries out of my mouth. She ended the call saying she hoped I would be feeling better the next day. Actually, by 11 pm my stomach calmed down and I ate a ham sandwich since I was still basically hungry and wanted to get that taste out of my mouth. I have eaten food in restaurants before that really wasn't good, but I've never sent anything back or posted a bad review. I just don't go back. I realize my rating contradicts the other reviews, and sometimes a bad meal will just happen once in awhile, but I gave a 1 star rating by not only the food, but how the situation was handled. No restaurant EVER charges a customer for their included sides when the main part of the meal is a disgusting flop.(drinks I expect to be charged) I don't bring a phone into a restaurant because I consider that crass and rude or I would have taken a picture of what they had the nerve to serve me. All I kept thinking was why everyone else's meal looked and smelled great and mine was a horror story that made me ill. read more

We went to Ruth's yesterday because of the great reviews. We ordered the Fried Chicken Special and received the biggest pieces of chicken I've ever seen. My wife cut into hers and found it was raw inside. I cut into mine and it was raw too. Our waitress did not come back to check on us so after several minutes I had to go find her. She was apologetic and said the chicken pieces are so big that they can't get an accurate temperature reading. She left us with our side dishes and took our chicken back to the kitchen. We ate our sides because we were starving by that time. She brought back the same pieces of chicken cooked again, which made it dryer and tougher. No offer of fresh sides, another roll, nothing. I assumed they would adjust our bill but no discount at all and the cashier didn't even ask if everything was OK. Hopefully this was an isolated incident, but I would not risk food poisoning by eating there again. read more
