I get the sense that this place is a local institution, and I'm glad I got to experience the power of simplicity. I got the club sandwich on wheat bread and homemade slaw for lunch recently. Aside from the affordability, the food was no frills but well made, and I looked the chopped, sweet slaw. I hope they keep doing well.

All-in-all, good brewery... The beer is respectable; it's not the best craft beer you will find, but for the Martinsville area, it's solid brew (we really liked their DIPA). The brewery is a veteran-owned joint and has a chill vibe... It's small, nicely designed, and has decent service (not great, but not bad). We'll stop back in again when in town.

I met Jake today, he is one of the owners and is an amazing person who is passionate about the quality of beer served. Does everyone really know what craft beer is?? Craft breweries aren't like the macrobreweries churning out billions of gallons of beer in a year. They usually care much more about how their brews taste, and they will take their time making sure that the end result is an adventure. If you haven't checked out a local craft brewery yet, you might be surprised just how creative beers can be. The beers I tried, The Lawn Mower is light American lager that you can drink all day. DA 'RONA is SCUFFLE HILLS take on a Mexican Cerveza. Pairs perfect with a lime. The Big Chair: OMG, this is the clear winner and one of the best beers I have tasted. The El Dorado and Huell melon makes this a beer that I can be happy with every day. Again, stop in, support your service members and bring a new vibe to Collinsville area. If you are traveling anywhere nearby (or even if you…read morearen't but can reroute yourself without too much inconvenience) eat your breakfast on the road here. In fact, even if you're in, for example, Florida or California, and are tempted to enter a Waffle House, or an IHOP, Denny's, or, heaven forbid, a Cracker Barrel -- just drive toward the Blue Ridge Mountains and eat at Dudley's instead. The mountain areas of Virginia have restaurants, both large and small, of shockingly good quality (especially if you're way too used to North Carolina's generally dismal offerings). And the splendor of Virginia culinary expertise clearly applies to truck stops -- or at least it does here, in a little restaurant that doesn't seem to have changed much in the last 60 years. Here, all of your diner breakfast dreams will come true. For example, the omelets are perfect diner omelets. The home fries (usually something to be avoided at many diners) clearly come from real potatoes which have been perfectly chopped and even excellently seasoned. There are actual biscuits, seemingly made in-house (shockingly a rarity in other, less rarified, parts of the Southeast - trust me). And it all tastes good and is cooked impeccably. Best of all, is the extra special depth of flavor that can only come from a grill that has seen, and cooked, a lot of history, like a well-loved iron frying pan. You can try to fry bacon elsewhere, but it will never have the same indefinable magic that comes from a venerable diner kitchen. The atmosphere gives top quality diner scenery. The walls, the curtains, the friendly regulars, the pictures, the memorabilia, photos of Willie Nelson, a taxidermied bobcat (which, I should clarify, is a bobcat, I don't mean it's a photo of a bobcat named Willie Nelson, though that may well have been his name to his bobcat friends). it's all magnificent, charming, and will make you miss the sepia-toned vision of your childhood, which really was never like this at all, but it feels right. Chain restaurants can only wish they had a 1/100th of the pleasant authenticity of the decor here. The service is very efficient and, of course, super-friendly (as you would expect), but never annoying or overbearing. It's just as it should be. A lot of the quality comes from (as it does everywhere that is special) having an ever-present owner, who, from the long-ago beginning, has been at the restaurant every step of the way. Great establishments often owe their greatness to a wise owner who harnesses the threads of the business like the Fates at the loom. Thank you for maintaining such a nice place.
