4-Cheese Ravioli with veggies and shrimp
Tina B.

We frequent Pickle and Ash often, especially for special occasions. They never fail! Celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary, we chose the 4-cheese ravioli with veggies and shrimp, and the stuffed trout with grits and veg. Yummo!! They were very busy, but the staff teamed up to ensure drinks were delivered, plates served and tables bussed. The ever changing menu and rotating taps make each visit unique and awesome. I don't love the (too) high bench along the wall but it's a great idea and space saver. P&A is always a home run when we visit!

To say this is one of our absolute favorite restaurants is an understatement. We have a vacation home nearby so we don't get in as often as we'd like but if we ever decide to retire there permanently I will be beating the door down to become part of this fabulous crew. Food is impeccable and inventive, service is excellent, and we are always met with cheerful faces and a clean, fresh environment. I spent many years bartending and later in restaurant management and these guys hit the mark on every level. Kudos and we will see you again very soon!

The food was spectacular! ...super fresh and delicious! I had the quiche special with their speciality salad that has goat cheese, pickled golden beets, and caramelized pecans and a white balsamic dressing! My partner had the catfish sandwich...the bread was house made and the chow chow on it was soooo good! Our staff person was friendly and engaging! You don't want to miss Pickle and Ash if you're in the area! We'll be back!

Tri-tip special, open-faced sandwich.

So. Dang. Good. We were recommended Pickle & Ash by a friend who regularly drives through and were definitely impressed. The food and dessert were fantastic! Not to mention the great drink list. Would gladly stop by again.

Just a simple roadside restaurant with a pretty sign that invites you to stop and check it out! We enjoyed lunch (hear dinner is a treat) but remember to get a reservation if you want dinner through the website. I had a burger that was delicious with a ranch sauce and tomato jam making it really unique and worth the drive. My mom ( travel buddy this year) had a hearty greens salad that was also very good. She did add the protein of chicken, which was a bit dry, but was still a solid choice. We had a Nutella cake with raspberry filled layers that was good. We would eat there again for at least lunch. The ingredients were all fresh and the atmosphere was clean, farmhouse style, with very friendly staff.

Steak and broccolini

We've driven past Pickle and Ash many times and finally made a reservation for a Valentines dinner. Stuart VA is in southwest Virginia - not too close to any major cities, so to find this wonderful restaurant was a delight! We were seated immediately and picked a cup of soup and a small, fresh salad to start. Dinner was steak, baby potatoes and mushrooms, and broccolini. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked. If ever in this part of Virginia, you should stop in. Delicious!!

I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, but in none have I had such a wonderful…read moredining experience like I always do at Bernard's Gastropub & Eatery. After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to return to those special ones, that have made a difference in my life and highlight them, for the benefit of the public, so they too can have an opportunity to appreciate the qualities of a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience. And Bernard's Gastropub & Eatery in Downtown Roanoke, is a perfect example. Bernard's was born out of the love of two culinary aficionados turned professionals that in someway have managed to create a restaurant with an environment that transmits this intimate love to the hearts of their customers through the attention to detail in its extraordinary customer service and amazing culinary masterpieces. Today, I felt like dining at this restaurant, which I admire for its consistency in always far exceeding my high expectations of what a fine-dining restaurant should be all about. Not knowing if they would have a table for me at this late time on a Saturday early evening, I drove in my pearl white Lexus to the nearest private parking lot and gave them a call to inquire as if they could give me a reservation for the next ten minutes. A gentleman, who later I found out was named Matthew, and would be my server, answered the phone with a very polite and welcoming voice; answering my question of what was the special dish of the day and to come on down, that my reservation was assured. As soon as I arrived to the small, very elegant foyer in front of the Host's station, he came out to greet me and instantly recognized who I was. My only request was that he give me a low table because at my age seating at a high table was a bit uncomfortable. He went back to see what he could find and ended setting me up with what I consider one of the best tables of the house, and I was so appreciative of his last minute accommodation. The menu was already setup on my table. He poured water from a special bottle into my water glass and asked if I wanted something else to drink. I asked for a Mocktail and since he also was a bartender, he prepared me one of the best mocktails I've ever had. To dine, I started out with their Mussels Carbonara appetizer, which came in a bacon parmesan cream sauce that was simply amazing, and served with toast points. As my main entrée I had the Dinner Special of the Night, the Seafood Trio. It had a delicious, giant size crab cake in the middle, scallops, and shrimps, with parmesan risotto sautéed heirloom tomato, spinach, and nice size asparagus, with a burre blanc sauce. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the high-quality of their food and magnificent ambiance of the place. Everything was so delicious that only one word could ever describe them: priceless! For dessert I had their very famous Butterscotch Banana Pudding, which the chef makes at the moment ordered. It looked spectacular and tasted amazingly delicious: a culinary work of art. What a great way for the Gran Finale of an extraordinary dining experience!

I was disappointed because I was hoping to try a soup or scallops I'd seen in Yelp pics but they weren't in the menu this time. Which is the roll of the dice you pay for fresh creative menus. Dining area and bar have a nice vibe with attractive art work. Dim lighting and smaller tables make it cute for a date or a solo business diner like myself. The lucky cube drink was creative and tasty. Brussel sprouts were also unique with a tahini sauce on top and perfectly crispy chickpeas. I'd seen "Smoke in Chimneys Trout" on a few menus in Roanoke this trip but never heard of that before. Looked it up and learned something new. They are trout that are local and prized for living in a lime stone aquifer rather than a river. Giving them a clean light slightly sweet taste, no essence of mud that can come with other river fish. I've never ordered trout in a restaurant, But when in Rome... Lol. The fish itself and the portion was really good. Wish I could remember my waitress' name. She was knowledgeable and just had a really warm, friendly energy.

Bites & Pints in Greensboro is an absolute gem--especially if you're a fan of great chicken wings…read moreand even better service. The wings are easily the star of the show: perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Whether you like them classic or with a little extra kick, they definitely don't disappoint. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the customer service. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out just right. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers, which makes a huge difference. I'm very grateful that they were very considerate when I drove over for over an hour and found out they were turning customers away due to a leak problem in the kitchen. They did accommodate our request to get our order and have it to go! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great spot to hang out with friends, catch a game, or just enjoy some seriously good food. If you're in Greensboro and craving wings, Bites & Pints should be at the top of your list. I'll definitely be back!

Hidden gem with great food, drinks, and vibe!…read more We were invited by the co-owner to come check out Bites & Pints, and I'm so glad we did. It was our first visit, and it definitely won't be our last. I had the southwest quesadilla with fries, my husband ordered the burger with kitchen fries, and we also tried the chicken sandwich with fries. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with real care. One thing I truly appreciated was how they packed the loaded fries -- they put the toppings on the side without me even having to ask so the fries wouldn't get soggy. That small detail says a lot about how thoughtful they are with takeout. For drinks, I had a guava margarita (so good), and my husband had a Paloma, which he really enjoyed. The space itself is super inviting, and I loved the creative license plate wall -- such a cool touch. You can tell they've put a lot of love into upgrading the space, and it really shows, especially as the sun starts to go down. We were on a tight schedule, so we ended up taking our food to go, but we're already planning to come back and fully dine in. This is definitely one of those spots you'll want to keep in rotation. Great food, great drinks, great vibe, and thoughtful service. Highly recommend supporting this local spot!
