This is a gas station Indian restaurant. I've found some surprisingly good food in such settings, but this one was more like what that combination of words would lead one to expect. They have some typical American food and Italian, but the people clearly forefront their Indian cuisine. I ordered some chickpeas and fried bread, but having ordered online I arrived to find they hadn't started it yet. After a modest wait, I took my food to go. The freshly prepared curry could not be accused of anything less than robust flavor, and yet it was very heavy on oil and even though I tried to pour some of that off it left me feeling a bit queasy. The fried bread that accompanied it wasn't impressive; the pieces were two small to really mop up the chickpeas by themselves. The prepared food menu was varied, but the selection of items for sale in the convenience store was more typical American stuff. I was glad I found something interesting and vegetarian in the region, but it wasn't quite what I'd hoped for. Maybe a different order would go better. read more

Who'd think you could get great Indian foods in Martinsville, VA, and from a restaurant called Do Drop In?! We ordered two different vegetarian dinners (Kadai Vegetable, and Paneer butter masala) and a mixed platter, garlic naan, and fabulous pakoras! also, mango lassi made with their in house yogurt!!! Been there a couple of times. My husband swore he didn't like Indian food, but both times we ordered the Chicken Tandoori, he was impressed. The flavors are fresh and you can get it as spicy or not, as you like. We have also tried their burgers, and they are good, as well. We had mushroom Swiss burgers and they don't skimp on the mushrooms or cheese. The burgers are juicy and well cooked. The onion rings are good. read more

Well. I was skeptical, but I tried it anyway. Boy, what a pleasant surprise!! So, it's a gas station. Yes, but the Indian food we tried is as good as any. You have to try their somosa's. Devine comes to mind. We also got some chicken jalfrezi. Spicy but not too overbearing. Chicken was nice and tender and the veg, peppers and onions were crisp and crunchy. Really good. The 3 men behind the counter (brothers maybe?) we're very nice and courteous. I'm still in shock about this unassuming gas station/eatery. Will 100% return. And so should you!! read more

We would not have expected to find this gem either in Martinsville nor in the convienience store in which it is located. Real Indian food prepared by natives of India. We've tried almost every dish on the menu and havent been dissappointed. At times, the spice levels get confused. My wife doesnt like spice while I love it. When orderung different dishes, we've had the wrong dish come out spicy. But the place is clean, staff friendly, and variety of food sure to please everyone. read more

While not a good choice for a first date this is some of the best food in Martinsville. Most food is taken out but there's an actual dining area on one end of the gas/convenience/restaurant. I tend to eat in and alone and I was thrilled to find this place. The first thing I ordered was a draft beer and I was fresh, bubbly, cold and delicious. The wait for food isn't too long and well worth it. Order anything with meat cheese tomato sauce and dough and you can't go wrong. Pizza and Stromboli are big enough to share of take leftovers. I agree with a well-traveled friend who finds this the best pizza he's ever had anywhere. If your sweetheart won't go with you to eat somewhere with gas pumps just call it in and take it home. Very good Indian food. We moved here from New York City not long ago and were thrilled to find this little gem of authentic Indian cuisine. Yes it is in the same building as the store for the gas station, but it's a big kitchen and it looks clean. Service was quick and friendly. We met the owner and he was very nice. We've eaten here a couple times --we expect to eat here often as the restaurant selection in the area is currently not great. A score for the area! read more

Great spot et dog was legit. Shakes: vanilla was sweet and very vanilla. Chocolate was good and definitely Hershey syrup driven. Both great for dipping the potato wedges and tots. We dined this evening at the Do Drop In located in Martinsville, Va. We ordered Indian food and it was great!!! We moved to Woolwine from Virginia Beach where we ate Indian food once a week and this place is some of the best we have ever had!
