SKIP THIS PLACE WHILE YOU HAVE A CHANCE Pros: the western omelette is enough to feed 2 people. Food wasn't bad, but not great. Cons: No clue how this place passes health inspections. Table is sticky, and whatever you do don't sit across from the window unit pumping out cold air for the whole place. My 2 others guests were frozen and I was too, but gave my only sweater to my sister. Food took at least 15 minutes when we were the only ones even being served. Praise music was up higher than the lights. Ladies room toilet rocks so hard I immediately assumed I was falling thru the floor when I sat. Thankfully we won't have to return. read more

We stopped for breakfast on a Saturday morning . The buffet was available so we gave it a try. They did have a regular menu to order from also. The breakfast potatoes and bacon were really good everything else was just okay. The biscuits were the frozen kind (I think). If you don't want to cook on Saturday then this is a good option . read more

What a depressing place. I felt so bad for the poor fish in the lobby fishtank! The water was so dirty, yoh could barely see the poor things with their lips stuck to the glass. The waitress was okay enough. She got the job done. The food was typical breakfast fare: eggs, bacon, toast. The coffee was good, and my cup was refreshed nicely. Overall it tasted pretty good. The country ham was a bit on the extra salty side. The eggs were cooked perfectly the hash browns were nice and crunchy like I like them. Pretty basic country diner menu. Not a lot to choose from. The waitress was nice and attentive. My grandson ate all his omelette and said it was good. read more

Went there a week ago for birthday with family. At 7pm on a Saturday we were 1 of 2 tables in the entire place. While the waitress was super nice, she didn't check on us much at all and never asked to refill drinks. The food was cooked properly (rare steak, fried okra), but it was bland like no seasonings at all used. No garlic, salt, or pepper on any items. I can go without fancy flavors, but this all had none. As if the okra was only rolled in flour and the sautéed mushrooms were just thrown in a pan and then onto the steak which had no pre-season either. This was the same for 5 of the 7 total people served. Seems like they need a good cook. read more

We arrived around 7:45 for dinner. We were seated and I said sorry we are late. The waitress said you have 15 minutes. We were not rushed had a good meal. The deserts were awesome. The time on Yelp is wrong. They close at 8:00 nightly. I was told no one can change the time. We both had the pork chop dinner w/backed potato roll & salad If you get time stop in and eat. We visited on a Sunday morning and were greeted quickly and seated in a booth. The coffee was fresh and hot and our order taken. My husband and I have two standards when we try a new diner. Biscuits and gravy and Western ommlettes. I ordered the Weitz special which is two biscuits topped with sausage gravy and two eggs. The biscuits were fluffy and the sausage gravy some of the best I've had. Topped with perfectly cooked over easy eggs, I was a happy girl. Schweety's western was a bit on the small side which he, as usual, put between the biscuit he ordered and at it as a sandwich! He ate it all then helped me finish my food. Such a considerate man! Service was friendly and the restaurnt tidy and inviting. Would eat here again if I was in the area. read more

Went there a couple weeks ago and ate dinner, nats were flying around the salad bar, nothing was filled up. Waitress was going table to table complaining about her life. I'm always about giving second chances because breakfast there has been ok and the weekend waitress is wonderful. Went back in tonight for dinner, Flys are now on the salad bar, same dinner waitress came over and first thing she said was I still hate my job. Took our drink order and said she would be back, never seen her again until we were walking put and she apologized for forgetting us. Got to the register to pay for our tea and the man who I believe owns the place was up there and the waitress said I forgot to take their order and he blew it completly off and charged us the 5.24 for 2 teas. WE WILL NOT GO BACK THERE!!! However we went across the street to Mary's Diner and the food and service was great. So if your in the area just go by and try Mary's Diner unless you like going into a restaurant to eat with the flies and hear the staff complain. read more

Not very good. The good part of the meal: The waitress was great, she was very friendly Check out the the picture I put on this website of the inside of the salmon cakes I ordered. I couldn't choke them down but didn't want to spoil dinner for my husband, so put the "whatever they were" in a to-go-box and fed it to my dogs. I'd love to know what I took a few bites of, because it wasn't salmon. read more

Franklin Restaurant had all the right fixin's; from its side-of-the-highway location to grandma's homespun decor to the thoroughly country menu to the single-digit prices for almost everything on the menu, it's hard to fault this place. read more

We went here hoping to find a new favorite but we were so disappointed. The first impression was that they haven't done anything to update in about 50 years. The salt, pepper and sugar containers were dirty so you didn't want to touch them and the salad bar was not very clean and some of the veggies didn't even look fresh. The service was lacking, after we ordered our waitress didn't even come back to check on us to make sure everything was ok. The food was so bad that we couldn't even eat it. We had the most unbelievably rude waitress- my Mom and I ordered grilled cheese platters. The waitress said all they had was ham and grilled cheese. She told us she could not give us just grilled cheese. When my Mom said that was ridiculous the waitress stared my Mom down like she wanted to physically attack her! I was mortified! I will NEVER go back or recommend this restaurant! Ruth's is right down the road but we wanted to try the Franklin restaurant because we had never been- NEVER again! We just had the best lunch here. The catfish was fresh and the BEST I've ever had. Make sure you check out the salad bar. You could actually make a meal out of it. It included hot items. The mac and cheese was undoubtedly made from scratch....creamy, cheesy deliciousness!! read more

Been here a lot and know what's good. The pancakes for breakfast are absolutely delicious and the syrup goes great with the pancakes. The grilled cheese is great but the start of the grilled cheese has a little bit too much and the start. The chicken tenders were very soft and tasteful. The drinks are very good. Very good environment and was seated to a great feeling booth and the place just looks good. I recommend this place to everybody. read more

We ate at the Franklin Restaurant after it opened where the Sea Captain was on route 220. We had our kids and grandkids, 10 of us and we were told that when they bought the Sea Captain out that they would keep his seafood items and so that is why we ate there. The Sea Captain was absolutely great, great whitefish, great seafood, hushpuppies, etc. Well the waitress took our drink order and it took her 20 minutes to even reappear with the drinks. Then we were there 1 1/2 hours before we got our food! The food was the worse meal we have ever had, I ordered catfish, have had catfish at other restaurants and I have never had catfish that had that "fishy" taste, because if I had, I would never have ordered catfish again! The mac and cheese was stone cold, had to send it back to be "reheated". When the Sea Captain was open, he had quality food, not this place, it is definitely NOT going to be on the same level as the Sea Captain! We won't be eating there again, we will go to Ruth's across the road where we have always gotten a good meal and great service! They did not keep the same seafood menu they said they were going to do! read more

Had a great BBQ sandwich here and the price can't be beat. It is fast and friendly. My only complaint is that it seemed dirty and worn.

Reasonable prices, salad bar pretty good. Have had chuckwagon, beef liver, catfish and tuna steaks. All were great with good portion size, I.e. worth the price paid. Time to try breakfast now... read more

We saw the reviews and thought we must try. We both had the chopped steak meal, very good flavor and juicy. Enjoyed the salad and vegetable bar. Waitress very nice and kept the drinks full. Very resonable prices both ate for for under $20 read more
