Love this place. I like that the tacos are small, so you can try different ones. I think three of them are less food than one Chipotle burrito! Staff is friendly, and the hot sauces are really good. My wife cannot come here without getting the shrimp tacos, which I think are the best thing on the menu. Love the Rusty Taco too, who knew pineapple would be a good idea? Can't wait to go for dinner in the summer, because I want a glass of Surly Furious while sitting in the outdoor patio. read more

Is this place trying to be chipotle? No where on the menus did it say corn tortillas- no my favorite. Spicy beef taco meat had good flavor. Pepsi on the fountain and a bottle of coke (thank goodness) in a cooler. Beer in a self serve Cooler And behind the counter on tap?? The place seems confusing and it doesn't look as though they know who they want to be read more

Fast, well priced, good variety and fresh. Enjoyed my first experience on Cinco de Mayo. I had various kinds of tacos and enjoyed them all. For the price, it's definitely worth the visit. I can't wait to bring my husband back! read more

The ingredients are fresh, but the food is devoid of flavor. So sorry that we let our BIL take us here. It looked legit, but like most ethnic food here, looking like it means nothing. It also doesn't help that they asked for my name and then tried not to laugh when I told them what it was or when they called it. My name isn't even that different as far as ethnic names go. The guy who made our food was talking excitedly about how great the habanero sauce was and how they boldly eat it on chips late at night. I asked if they did lines of it too. He had no clue what I meant. Ha ha ha. Oh, Minnesota... read more

Getting the kinks worked out! Service was very good, very friendly. Had #5 Brisket, #11 BBQ Pork, #13 Gringo. All very good. Habanero salsa was especially spicy batch, very nice. All salsas were good. Others had #7 Fish, very good, spicy beef nachos, very good, chips and queso good. Cool look and ambience, clean Nice selection of beer and Margarita. Marketed as traditional Mexican street food, all homemade, I like it and will be back! read more

I love this place! Fun atmosphere and yummy tacos. This is not your Taco Bell! It is a completely different concept. The food is great and I love that there is a place that serves alcohol at this intersection again. They've had some growing pains having only opened two weeks ago, but despite some order errors the entire staff displays a willingness to please and are very hospitable. Corrections are made immediately and with with a smile. Everything is made from scratch except the tortillas. My favs are the #8 shrimp taco, #7 grilled fish and #3 beef fajita. This place will be a must for summer patio Margaritas! Love it! read more

Alright. We only had snacks and a wine here as we were killing time before going to a wedding. Food and menu looked great. But a HUGE off putting experience that will ensure we do not return. To preface my comments. I travel all over the US every week. Different states. Different cities. And a huge variety of different venues. So my wife and I, in our 50's show up and order wine. Must have ID: Ok. I get it, sometimes it is a policy. We produce the ID and the guy spends several minutes entering data from the back of our ID's near the bar code. I inquire, he says he has to do that because they do not have a scanner. What? What is happening? 30 years of traveling and eating out multiple times per week with alcohol purchases, has never happened before ever. Anywhere. And there is only 1 state I have not been to and engaged in this behavior. So I don't get it. Something not right in my opinion. I will avoid this place just because they make me Worried about privacy issues and protecting my information. And it was just unusual. I will not do business with an establishment that takes your data like law enforcement on a traffic violation. Plenty of other options that treat you with respect. read more

I love the unique options and great portion sizes that Rusty Taco provides. They really hit the mark as an urban, trendy taco joint. You can expect high quality ingredients and great prices. I would definitely suggest getting flour tortillas instead of the corn tortillas (personal preference). They also have breakfast tacos, which is a huge plus for me, I love breakfast tacos! read more

Rusty Taco - Tex-Mex Near Me - Maple Grove, Minnesota

Our go-to Mexican delivery for the past few months. Have tried 5 or 6 taco varieties and their proteins are a cut above the chain burritos joints in the area. In fact, their meats are pretty much better than any Mexican restaurant on the west side, fast food or otherwise. Likewise for their flour tortillas (I'm not big on soft corn tortillas in general). The smoked green chili pork has great flavor, tender, love it. I'm also a sucker for any taco that adds potatoes so the picadillo is a fav. Baja shrimp and Rusty taco are on our order every time as well. Salsa has a decent kick and good consistency, not watery or bland. Chips are perfect, made in house, not over salted. I could live on their chips and salsa. We have one person in the family that usually pushes back on ordering Mexican (for years!) but she's never pushed back on Rusty and even suggests it now. That says something. read more

Food was remarkable, no complaints there - I'll definitely be back. Service was another story. It's 12:30 on a Saturday, there's one younger female working the counter, and a line of 15-20 people. The woman was slow to take orders, was carding EVERYONE who wanted a margarita (I get that you need to card everyone, but I would give a 75 year old man with a cane the benefit), then on top of it was making the drinks for each customer. We got to the store with 5 people in front of us in line, and it took 20 minutes to get to the point where we could order. Food came out extremely fast, which made up for it. I would call lunch on Saturday "peak hours", and not have just one person running the counter and making the drinks. Frustrating when you have somewhere you're planning to go afterwards, we were there for around 40 minutes. Just make some better use of your man power. read more

Visited this establishment on the first weekend they were open in Maple Grove. Only had about 10 people eating inside, 3 waiting for food including me. 5 working behind the counter. Appeared to be the female manager on duty. Very very rude to staff, explaining how things need to be done in front of us customers Waiting for food. It took 15 min to make 6 tacos and chips with queso. Food had no taste and cooking instructions were not followed! All and all so very sad this establishment was like this... We really were looking forward to good tacos in the neighborhood!!! Not here! read more

It was ok. I could leave it at that, but to expand... Beef was ok. Chips were ok. Queso was ok. Brisket taco was ok. Street corn was ok. Hot sauces were ok. Guacamole was almost ok. Service was ok. The workers seemed grumpy with each other. Not sure where the potatoes in the tacos that listed potatoes were, if it was part of the "meat" or what. Somewhat bland but ok. Overall it was better than Taco Bell or something. It was ok. read more

Had high hopes. My wife, daughter and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to order some food to go. Was my first time at a Rusty Taco. Lots of choices on the menu which was intriguing. I was greeted decently by the guy at the register. I had some questions about some of the items and he kind of mumbled his responses without much expression. Kind of like I was the idiot. Made my order in a fashion that I thought was clear and concise. Payed and went to fill my drink cups. After filling my cups I turned to see the guy that took my order down by the assemblers talking to one of them and then they both looked back at me at slightly different times. (Kinda weird but maybe nothing.) I couldn't hear what they said but struck me as odd. There was a younger guy and a Latino women doing the food prep behind the counter. It was apparent that the guy was putting together my food order. IT. WAS. SOOO. SLOW. Like, way to slow for tacos. I've had Taco Bell take a fraction of the time. I ordered essentially 5 tacos, a quesadilla and chips/guac. Two of the tacos were the kids chicken which is a chicken tender in a tortilla shell. (Not complicated!) He just took his sweet time going from one thing to the next. He proceeded to put my chips in a paper boat and then say "Oh shoot, these were to go." Then put them in a bag. He called my name, threw in a couple hot sauce cups and I left. A couple more people had filed in while I was waiting but my order was the only one they were dealing with at the time. I jumped in the car and my Wife got back on the freeway and I started to dole out the food to her and my daughter. The quesadilla was fine and the kids chicken we're as advertised. I grabbed my first taco which was a BBQ beef brisket, AMAZING! Tons of flavor, tender meet and good sized. It was gone in a minute. Proceeded to grab my second taco only to find that THEY FORGOT ONE OF MY TACOS. C'mon! After contemplating turning around or calling I chalked it up to an unfortunate loss. (Each taco is $2.50.) I grab my second and FINAL taco, Fajita Chicken. Bleh. Chunks of dry chicken with a hint of seasoning, purple cabbage and way too much cilantro. No sauce or anything else. Not pleasant. I dumped hot sauce on it and finished it. I was saved by the generous amount of chips and guac that I had ordered. Those were good! Not impressed with the staff at all. Dressed in scrubby sweatshirt and street clothes. No quickness what so ever. I'll try the place again because the one taco was fantastic. But disappointed with the service. read more

waited an hour for them to tell us "we're out of eggs what else do you want" undeniably the worst experience I've had eating out in a long long time. waited an hour and a half all together for food. And it was still cold. What a joke. Wish I could have my money back read more

Excellent food, cool atmosphere, reasonable price...definitely worth the drive up 494 for the best shrimp taco I have ever eaten. I thought the shrimp tacos were the pinnacle of culinary street tacos...then I had the Raja Taco....perfection. The amount of flavors in each bite is amazing. So then I decided to explore the menu further, and tried a breakfast taco, the Jalapeño Sausage Cheddar cheese one to be exact...minus the Jalapeño sausage, it was perfect. Equivalent to my knock out cheesy eggs I make at home. Rusty Taco is excellen....no complaints here. Be brave, and go all in for damn, good tacos. read more

Great tacos (especially liked the fried chicken taco and their namesake, the rusty taco), at reasonable prices. Fed our family for about the same as a trip to Chipotle, but with some more unique flavor combinations than you can get at any of the mainstream Mexican QSR's. Service was fast and friendly, even with a sizeable Saturday dinner rush. Atmosphere is pretty stark and cool, but I bet it will warm up when they open the huge windows facing the patio this summer. So glad to have a new, unique option in the neighborhood! read more

First off the name Rusty taco sounds kind of gross second they have salsa in tubes and God for bid you try to take some with you the manager catch you on the shoulder and ask you what the Frick you're doing beyond rude customer service not a bit appetizing food the pancake house next-door has better salsa! read more

I am a taco fiend. I love trying new taco joints and this is by far my favorite. The long list of different tacos provides some of the best flavor combinations around. I've tried almost all of them and never been disappointed. They are traditional authentic STYLE tacos and probably a lot better than what you'd find even in Mexico. Beware, if you're an extremely picky eater and think that Taco Bell has the best tacos, this is not the place for you. The prices are on par with any place else, so anyone who complains about the $2.50 or $3 per taco needs a reality check. The service is always great. The place is always clean. They do have some beer on tap. Usually a craft beer or two which is good to see. This place isn't a bar so we're lucky to get alcohol at all, especially on tap. read more

We were excited that our fave Rusty Taco was open - and we could sit outside to eat! Fish tacos, chips, pico, cool drink, 80F weather - yahoo! We rolled up before the typical rush - approx 11:25 a.m. There were only two other patrons inside (wearing masks like us) and there were about five staff bustling around the grills, also wearing masks and gloves. The 'social distancing" dots were evident on the floor. But I have to say, the place was disgusting. The first thing I noticed was the nasty, filthy, smudged doors, windows, store-front. I never noticed *that* before. We ordered and were told to wait out back for our food, we obeyed, and were the only ones out there. The door to the patio was ajar, and I was grateful I could open in further with my foot, because it, too, was disgusting. Smeared food (or whatever) on the handles, and the ground was filthy with black gunk. Trash cans were both overflowing, the tables had trash and food smeared in the table tops. I pulled a napkin from one of two visible dispensers to wipe a spot at our table as we waited, and it was full of water from rain the night before. The worker appeared with our trays, and must have noticed the tables because she said she'd be back with a rag. I asked for one of the salsa bottles and napkins, and she returned with another napkin dispenser TOTALLY smeared with dried food (I should have photographed) and two thimble-sized salsa containers. She explained that's how they serve salsa now, shrugged, and she was gone. We were so grossed out we could not wait to get out of there. We could not even dump our trays in the trash because they were overflowing. The exit was tied with a rope, so we had to go all the way back through all the filthy doorways to get out of there. So disappointed. It was our favorite. ***Basically, whoever closed last night should be fired. read more

Ever since they were featured as the best taco in mn by wcco wanted to try this place and I went there for lunch with office colleagues. While it is definitely not authentic Mexican flavours , they do have some unique flavour combination. Chips were ok , they had three sauces and they were ok as well. Ordering is pretty straight forward and no substitutions. They do have a cool patio and few drink options. Coming to the food, I ordered Baja shrimp , rusty taco and brisket. Shrimp was probably the best among them. Both brisket and pork were well cooked , but some how I did not like the combination of ingredients they came with. If you are looking for a americanized taco place with some drink options this is the place and it's worth going once read more

Great queso and Chips. However, not a fan of the ground beef or grilled chicken tacos. Aside from the meat, The toppings were fresh. Meat is not the worst, but definitely not as quality as other chain places (like Qdoba/Chipotle). I was really excited to try this place, but am leaving disappointed. HOWEVER, I am going to come back and try other meat (brisket tacos) to give it a fair chance of a better review next time. Pros also include- quick & friendly service, they allow dogs on the patio, and the patio area is nice (as is the inside). read more

We were looking for somewhere different from our usual big chain restaurants for lunch and were driving around and came across this. We were going to go to the Original Pancake House but saw this place and decided to give it a go. Now, my fiance and I both love tacos. He's more of the ground beef and spicy packaged seasoning or Taco Bell style tacos whereas I prefer the more authentic tacos. We were both pleasantly surprised with Rusty Taco (although he didn't notice the lime wedge on his taco and ended up eating it, rind and all which was hilarious). We got the brisket tacos as well as chips with both guacamole and salsa. Everything was delicious although I'd prefer slightly less cilantro. The only real issue I had was there were no readily available bottle openers for our Mexican Cokes but an employee did come around and open them after a little while. Also, there was only one spot in the restaurant to dump any garbage and put trays. Other than that it was very good and I will definitely be going back. Edit: They added another garbage can! Woot! read more

Rusty Taco - We ordered two brisket tacos, an order of chips and guacamole, an order of chips and salsa, and 2 Mexican Cokes. - Tex-Mex Near Me - Maple Grove, Minnesota

Food looks promising from the pictures, so my boyfriend and I visited last night for the first time. We ordered 2 Rusty margaritas, a side of chips and queso, 3 chicken fajita tacos, the steak nachos and a steak taco. Our bill was a little over $40. Service was fast, but we were the only ones in the restaurant at 8:15 pm on a Friday night. Margaritas were decent. Had to ask for our chips and queso because they forgot to bring it out. All four tacos and the nachos were either lukewarm or straight up cold. Meat was dried out and not very flavorful. Disappointed that we spent so much money on cold food. Will not be back. Still looking for a decent tex mex spot in the metro. Was hoping Rusty Taco would be it, but sadly it is not. read more

This place has really gone downhill from he last time I tried it. I use to get the crispy shrimp taco and the flavor and shrimp were outstanding. Now the shrimp doesn't taste fresh and are definitely smaller than what I remember. As for the other two tacos, the fried chicken and brisket, they were below average. The fried chicken taco had decently fried chicken, but the veggies on top seemed to smell a little rank. I don't know how often they Check the quality of he veggies, but some of it started getting sour and not in the good way. The brisket taco was just meet and onions. Nothing to write home about. I saw they re-opened and wanted to support them even though I had experienced slow service and incorrect orders in the past. This visit was the worst ever. They had so many people waiting on food that was running 30-40 minutes behind than when it was promised they stopped answering the phone and left it on hold so no one could find out where there food was. Their online order email confirmation said the food would be ready in 20 minutes so I showed up and waited another 40 minutes after that time and still no food; no manager or any person in charge to answer where my order was. The young girl they threw out to handle customers was dealing with unhappy customers all by herself with no way to help them. A complete disaster. They need a complete revamp to treat their customers better and a manager should really be at the counter or available to assist when all these customers were being ignored. I never got an apology at all. read more
