    pulled beef Chimichanga
    Laura A.

Beautiful modern ambiance. We stopped in for a weekday lunch and were seated right away. The chips and salsa were very fresh and delicious. My partner had the steak tacos and I had the pulled beef chimichanga. Their rice is really interesting- sticky and sweet. I prefer regular rice to this but it was fun to try something different. My chimichanga was nice and crispy but I didn't care for the beef- tasted too much like pot roast to me, without the Mexican flavor I was hoping for. I'd love to return for dinner and try something else and some of their cocktails! The highlight of our lunch was our server Jo. She was so attentive and helpful with ordering but the best part was overhearing her chat with other customers. These two women in maybe their 80's sat near us and Jo welcomed them and mentioned she hadn't seen them in awhile! "Last time you had xxx soup, would you like to try xxx soup this time?" When she walked away, the ladies commented to each other how special they felt that she remembered them. Great job Jo!

Went for lunch with my mom. Bar area is great. They consider themselves Americanized Mexican food. We split the chicken fajitas. The sticky rice wasn't for us. It's made with sweetened condensed milk and was too sweet for my liking. Chips and salsa came out hot. Not too salty.

    Shrimp tacos on flour tortillas

We had a good experience at Rojo. It was what you expect for a Midwestern American take on Mexican food. It was good but didn't blow my socks off flavor wise. Three cheese crisp - 3/5 we got there just in time for happy hour so this app was a few dollars off. Nice and crispy. Could have used more cheese though and more of the sauce they drizzle on top. Shrimp tacos - 3/5 on flour tortillas. Good portion. I substituted corn in place of the rice. Corn was good. Shrimp tacos needed a little something. I put some lime on them which helped but they need a little more spice/flavor. Carne asada tacos - 5/5 my friend really liked these. On corn tortillas. She noted meat had a nice flavor from the marinade and good char in the meat. Kids chicken fingers - 5/5 these were highly rated. How can you go wrong with chicken fingers and fries I guess. The overall consensus was good and he said you must get the tomatillo ranch to dip everything in. Service was good. Our server was very kind and attentive. It was pretty busy for a Friday night. I think the happy hour helped that.

Cut up hamburger patty as the beef in the burrito! Burrito is only filled with meat and cheese!

If you like to eat I don't recommend this place at all! The water, chips and salsa and fries were good. I second guessed eating at this place when I saw the patrons. We decided to stay....looked at the menu and almost left but didn't. We ordered a beef burrito and you couldn't tell me that they didn't just cut up a hamburger patty and put it in the burrito. That sweet rice that comes with the burrito is disgusting!! Got a burger zero flavor/seasoning. We paid our 60$ bill and left. I took the beef patty home and gave it to my dog I swear. Left this place and went to another restaurant. They have the nerve to be on Open table for reservations!

Wildly popular Mexican chain now in Maple Grove. Popular for chips and guac (queso) for you midwesterners at heart and drinks Rojo is a cool ambience eatery located in the old Patrick's building off elm creek. I know people love this place In Minnesota but after giving it a couple of chances I have deemed it the Macaroni Grille or Mexican. It's not Olive Garden Mexican which is key because my profile and reviews will give you an insight I have chased Mexican food to all corners of the state. As a former Californian the cheese dip as a garnish and the crock pot styled meats are not what I am craving. Our server was great but the sweet corn rice and sides are too close to Californian large chains. I can see why people like this place In the burbs I am not trying to be critical but when you stack up against these guys it will be a different conversation Pineda * Brothers Taqueria * Pajarito * (nicer date night) Orale Andale Taqueria * El Jefe Mancada * El Burrito Mercado * Boca Chica and their Taco House * Hamberguesas El Gordo * Tacos La Paloma * Tacos El Paraiso *

Had our team happy hour here and sadly wasn't a hit despite the fun ambiance. The food was bland and portions small considering the price. The server started out attentive with taking orders but once we got our food she was no where to be found.

    Shrimp Ceviche

Service was great and food was pretty good overall. It's a decent spot for more of an Americanized Mexican food, I say so because the menu was very limited. There wasn't much to choose from like the menus at an authentic Mexican restaurant. Needless to say, the food was still pretty good. I got the chimichanga and shrimp ceviche. Both were delicious. I really like the refried beans and even the rice - it's a sweet sticky rice with corns. Shrimp ceviche was also pretty good, and there was quite a lot of shrimps to dig up. I also got a mule and it was pretty strong for me. If you're looking for a quiet restaurant, probably not the place. It's pretty noisy since there's a bar also. Located at the far end of the Shoppes of Arbor Lake next to Red Lobster. Parking is plenty since it's connect to the strip malls.

A great place to have a great convo with friends and family. Very spacious and has a huge patio. The food and drinks are great, especially the Margaritas! Awesome service and lots of free parking space.

My top favorite dishes: - "QUESABIRRIA TACOS"!!! If you come for NOTHING else, the Quesabirria tacos are the only thing you should strongly consider stopping by for. Stuffed to the brim with tender, shredded, slow-cooked beef and cheese, served with a hearty consomé for dipping, these Quesabirria tacos will brighten anyone's cloudy day. If you're looking at the menu and nothing speaks to you, want to try something new, are in the mood for a comfort meal, or just want to guarantee a solid meal, the Quesabirria tacos are your fool-proof option. - "Enchiladas Tapatias". My backup dish if I'm not in the mood for Quesabirria tacos is these stuffed chicken enchiladas, covered in a cheese sauce. Served with rice, refried beans, lettuce, tomato & sour cream, this dish is a cheesy, gooey, delicious bite, every time. -"Taquitos Mexicanos". Four deep-fried taquitos stuffed with chicken or beef, served with guac, lettuce, tomato & sour cream. You won't find these bad boys anywhere else but in the appetizers section. If you blink twice, you might miss it. If you're not too hungry, this is a great, "light" option that's both filling and high protein ;-) -"Family Style 15 Street Tacos". This is a meal my family consumes at least once a month. It's practical, filling, and leaves leftovers! For $40, you get 15 corn tortilla tacos (your choice of protein), rice, refried beans, guacamole, chips, salsa, cilantro, & onion. If you need a meal for a group of 4-6, this is a phenomenal option. There are several other family-style options (including Margarita Mix ), ranging from $20-$50, available, but I've only tried & returned for the street tacos. -"Beergarita". This margarita with a twist is served with an upside-down 7 oz. Corona. Refreshing and stiff, this signature drink is a fun option to try with any meal. Riviera Maya is a delightful family-owned restaurant. The service is exceptional. Our family is always treated with the best care and attention. Riviera Maya is a hidden gem in the heart of Maple Grove, typically full on weekends. Whether takeout or dine-in, I'd encourage you to check them out!

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a diverse selection of dairy products, sodas, and snacks that you don't typically find all in one place. That variety directly stood out to me. Unlike many markets that focus on just one country, Loma Bonita offers a wide range of products from across Latin America, including El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, and more. One area for improvement is pricing clarity. In some sections, particularly dairy, labels can be difficult to match to specific items. That said, the staff at the checkout counter is willing to assist with price checks. As you move through the store, the selection just keeps getting better: fresh cuts of meat, frozen goods from around the world, and ready-to-eat hot meals. There's even a paletero (ice cream stand) tucked near the back by the produce section. The produce department stands out for its range, availability and affordability. It's great to find items like culantro, yellow (ripe) and green plantains, papaya, guava, mango, nance, yuca, and malanga, along with standard produce. Having all this fresh and reasonably priced is a big plus. What is the reward of visiting Loma Bonita? Their restaurant food! I almost always leave with a "Burrito de Asada" or "Huarache de Asada". Everything is made fresh to order, though they also offer convenient grab-and-go options like whole chicken and Mexican rice. On weekends, the menu expands with items like menudo and tacos dorados, making it more enticing to visit. There are multiple Loma Bonita locations in the Twin Cities, and while this one may be smaller, it's still packed with great finds. Pro tip: For homemade tacos, get their fresh, handmade corn tortillas. They're a game changer!

Taqueria LomaBonita is located in the back a grocery/bakery called Supermercado y Panaderia LomaBonita in Crystal. Firstly, the grocery store is amazing and features a huge selection of Mexican special items that you really can't find elsewhere, including a whole array of locally made tortillas, specially cut meats, tacos dorados, house made salsas, etc. In the back of the grocery store is this taco shop which sells a whole bunch of Mexican classics for between $5-15 depending on the item. I have tried about half the menu by now, and everything has been incredible. You have to get one of the many aguas (beverage) they have - my favorite is the sandia (watermelon), but they're all amazing. As for the food, my two favorite dishes so far have been the burrito and the enchiladas. Both are by far my favorite in the state, and the lengua is definitely the best meat choice I've tried. The staff are all extremely friendly, and serve you super quickly - the only potential downside is there may be a language barrier at times if you do not speak a little bit of Spanish. Just be ready to use Google translate should you need to. This taco shop is usually a little busy, but around the corner of it inside the grocery store, is a nice little seating area with very cute tables and colorful chairs. I highly recommend this place, it is one of my top 5 restaurants in Minnesota, and I come here almost weekly now.
