Enchilada with Verde and Beef Deep Fried Taco!

A trip down memory lane for a few friends to one of our favorite restaurants! Beautiful decorations and warmth from the fireplace. The food choices are plentiful and we all loved the deep fried tacos! We agreed we need to come for lunch more often!

Food was pretty good. Very busy. Decided to sit at bar. Had whiskey neat, Whiskey Pig Rye. $10.50 Ordered Mi Tierra with black beans. Gave me refried beans. But they did switch it out after I said something. I think the black beans are so much better!! The sopa (soup) that comes with entrees is very good. I could have just that next time. The pork chile verde guisado was a bit sour and I would give a 3 out of 5 for that and not reorder.

It's their 62 year anniversary today, and we celebrated it with them! I love this place, and they honestly feel like family at this point. It's my Mexican restaurant of choice, and we come here often. Everything was on point: the Modelo beers, the House Margarita, and the Taco Platter (served with black beans and rice). And each item was $6 for their anniversary (2 beers for $6, marg for $6, and taco platter for $6). I like the salsa with the chips (has a good amount of zip and tastes freshly made), the chips taste like they made them in house, and the tacos are delish. I opt to substitute black beans for refried. Happy Anniversay, Boca Chica, you are loved!

I love Bocachica so much. Never have anything bad at this place a true classic veteran and legend.

We had a very large party for a big birthday. The restaurant was very accommodating, the servers were friendly, the place was bustling, and the family-owned vibe was welcoming. They let us split the bill easily and got everyone's orders correctly. We all tried all the tacos, burritos, salads, chips and salsa, and margaritas. Everyone enjoyed their food and had a great time. I can't speak to the buffets, as we had regular dinner menu, but we all liked it. Great for big groups and families.

It's a definite no from me- I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Don't waste your time or money here. It's starts with chips & salsa- they have a hot and mild. The mild tastes like borderline tomato sauce for pasta and the spicy tastes like water. The chips are decent though. My friend got a burrito and hated it. She said it was all soggy from just being thrown on a plate with salsa verde and the beans. The salsa verde is sweet. And keep in mind, it's served warm. I had asked for some after the red salsa were both awful. The a server never mentioned that it would be warm, so that was a shock when I took a bite with the chip. I ordered the queso fundido because this is hard to find made the correct way. But it is awful!!! The chorizo is burnt and there's not nearly enough cheese. My entire dish was burnt past the point of being edible. I also asked for flour tortillas and was given corn, which I didn't touch at all. My friend and I both agreed it was a no for us and that we would never go back and would definitely not recommend. We were sad because we both had been craving and this fumbled so bad. Our server was good but there's things she could've done better.

The Los Dos Amigos here is one of my favorite Mexican dishes in the city. Truly delicious. I ate so much food I didn't eat for like 24 hours after (exaggeration but honestly kinda true LOL). The staff here are so friendly and the restaurant is a great vibe. They have a patio and I cannot wait for it to open!!! I will definitely be back once it does.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch with a women's group. Boca Chica Restaurant did an excellent job seating us together. Food was excellent. Wonderful and prompt service. I enjoyed the Taco salad with chicken. It came with 3 different dressings on the side to enjoy. It was so delicious! I was so busy devouring my delicious meal and chatting with my friends, I forgot to take pictures of the food....but OOOH SOOOO GOOD! The atmosphere and space is lovely, open, and bright. They have a huge free parking lot too. Can't wait to go back to try more things from the menu!

Yummy! The tacos here were great & the drinks too! Drinks were a bit strong, but good!

Los Dos Amigos ($16.50) with refried beans and an enchilada guajillo. Delicious and filling!

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the cities! My go-to for the dinner menu is the Los Dos Amigos ($16.50)--the sopes (thick corn tortillas) are so tasty and filling, and I love being able to choose an enchilada to go with (usually, an enchilada guajillo)! Perhaps it's kind of basic, but my favorite thing about Boca Chica is their salsa and sopa (which is an appetizer-y soup, not to be confused with the sopes!)--both are very simple but have really great flavors where the tomatoes really shine. While you do pay $3.25 here for chips and salsa (as opposed to some other places where it's complimentary), it's 100% worth it to me and I never skip ordering them. The staff is always super attentive and quick to refill drinks, clear plates, and otherwise check in, even when it's busy (which, it usually has been when I've gone!) I think the weekday lunch buffet ($14.95/pp, M-F from 11a-1:30p) is also a great value for the price with a great selection of enchiladas and mains like chimichangas, tacos fritos, and flautas, along with the sopa and salsa that I love so much.

my mom has raved about this place for the last idk how many decades. i was never a fan of it when she took me here on vacation to minnesota & now that im an adult with an adult palette, i hate it even more. growing up in an area of mostly mexicans and having extended family from mexico... this place is not it. there's nothing "authentic" about mexican restaurants. if you want actual mexican food, you need to find a taqueria. i ordered two chicken tacos & while they were surprisingly spicy for being in the midwest, they were overall terrible lol. the tortillas have got to be Mission brand from the grocery store because they literally split in half the second i lifted the taco. the "salsa" was chunky af and seemed like a salsa for chips rather than a spicy sauce for the tacos. i really have nothing good to say about the food here & im surprised they're still in business. i guess as a cult favorite for elderly white people, they'll stick around for another decade.

Excellent taco salad! However, the drinks were weak and the lunch hour noise was too much for any meaningful conversation-ing.

You may also recognize their logo at the MN State Fair and their food truck at various events. Overall if you've never been to their actual restaurant and market... you gotta. They have a full market and goods side to find all of your needs to take home and cook. As well as prepared items to bring home, heat and serve. I highly suggest this for taco night at home. Everything is fresh, delicious and made there in house. They have a walk up order area with casual seating, a full sit down restaurant area and an awesome patio. In the warmer months they have their Elotes truck out near the back entrance. The customer service is friendly, welcoming and very helpful if you have questions or need recommendations. I recently was shopping the grab and go deli and was trying to decide what meat to go with and two separate regular shoppers pointed me to some awesome picks so shout out to helpful strangers. I'll pass it along if I see someone staring at the wall of options someday. The staff working the deli window was also extremely helpful in picking out a good salsa heat level and gave a few samples to ensure my decision. Every time I visit La Costa, I have to get the chips and queso dip. La Costa offers Blanco and Nacho Cheese queso, but I wouldn't know about the Nacho because my heart and soul belong to Blanco. It is, without exaggeration, the best queso in the area. Their chips are also seasoned perfectly! For drinks, I used to ride hard for the Vallarta Margarita because cucumber margs are my favorite. But at La Costa, it's just a tad too spicy for my taste, not that it stopped me from ordering it repeatedly. Then I met the Mangonada Margarita. I am not usually a blended margarita girly, but this one is creamy, smooth, and somehow doesn't require the lung strength of a competitive swimmer to drink through a straw. As for food, I've eaten my way through a decent chunk of the menu. Some highlights are the Fish Tacos, the Ceviche, the Mole Enchiladas, and the Chimichanga. I tried the Camarones A La Costa recently and while they were good, I'm loyal to other dishes on the menu. The mole enchiladas pack heat. The mole sauce sits right at the edge of my maximum spice tolerance (which honestly isn't much). Still, I get them from time to time because they are so good. My husband, who loves spice, thinks they're incredible. The fish tacos are mild but flavorful. The ceviche is also a must if you love seafood. Today I grabbed the chicken chimichanga to go, and they absolutely stuffed this thing with chicken and rice. They also gave me a fat cup of queso on the side, which I deeply respect. I skipped the beans and doubled up on rice. 10/10, would do it again. La Costa stays on my rotation for a reason.
