My husband and I came here on a whim. We saw the one at the outlets had a sit in restaurant down the street so we opted for the restaurant. My husband had the steak tacos and I had the carnitas taco. The meats were exceptionally tender. The meat wasn't bland but it could definitely use a little more seasoning. I'm an extremely picky eater when it comes to Mexican food. I'm from San Diego and often would go to Tijuana for tacos. I did like the tacos here. They are definitely no Tijuana tacos but it's still pretty decent. The service was spectacular. Our waitress was attentive and super friendly. Would I go here again? Definitely yes. Would I go out of my way for it? No. Would I recommend this place to friends that live in the area? Ordered a lunch special and got two burritos. I had the tell the waiter the special came with beans and rice. My wife (an extremely healthy eater) ordered a bowl of lettuce with a side of Pico de Gallo. She received a medium-sized bowl of lettuce and about an ounce of Pico de Gallo. The bill was $10 for my lunch special and $14 for the lettuce. At dozens of Mexican restaurants, she's paid anywhere from $5 to $7, for this. My food was bland. Cute decor, especially like the lights that flash to the music! Plenty of space and in a strip mall so plenty of parking. Service was decent although I think only two other tables of people at the time we were there. Onto the food and drink- I had the house margarita in the rocks. Was decent but a little overly sweet for me. You get chips and salsa when you sit down. They were good but bit many chips in the basket. Asked for more and noticed a $2.00 charge on our bill for those. Husband had chicken fajitas and I had a burrito. Both were fine. Nothing special and not super flavorful. Ordered the churros for dessert and there is no way they were fresh. Bummer as we love a good churro! What a cute little restaurant tucked away in a strip mall, as I'm finding these tend to be my favorite kind of places to eat at! We decided to stop in before a long day of shopping at the outlet mall and had a great experience! We popped in fairly early in the morning (just before the lunch rush) and were sat right away. Our friend was late joining us but they were very kind in allowing us to sit there as long as we needed until he arrived. We ordered a variety of margaritas, daquiris, and blood mary's to get the party started, all of which we were very happy with. The two things I remember that my husband and I ordered were one of the chimichangas and the tres marias both of which were absolutely excellent! Disappointing. We've been meaning to stop by for some time and finally pulled the trigger tonight. For the night before Thanksgiving, it was surprisingly kind of dead. Since we arrived early (5:35pm on a Wednesday), we noticed and took advantage of their advertised half-off house margaritas. I was initially impressed as they were fairly good. That was the highlight of our night. Well, my gf asked for no salt and she got salt, so there's that. I usually like to get a combo platter at a Mexican restaurant to try out different types of food, but no such luck here, so I ordered the 3 enchiladas with mole sauce (with choice of meat). My gf ordered a different meal, but also with 3 enchiladas with choice of meat. However, the server only allowed us to pick 2 meats for our 3 enchiladas. Weird. Whatever, not a huge deal. We quickly ran out of chips and the watery salsa. Was it refilled all night? No sir. Were most of the servers chit-chatting in the corner half the time due to lack of guests? That's a strong yes. Our food arrived and mine actually tasted quite good. Again, my girlfriend's order was wrong. She requested to have extra refried beans in place of the rice, and well, there was a lot of rice on her plate. At least mine didn't have any sour cream as requested. We waited a LONG time for the bill and when it arrived, we were charged $16 for 2 house margaritas. When I pointed out their error, she blatantly stated that it was a buy one, get one deal and per person. Apparently, I had to get 2 margaritas and my gf had to get 2. Strange when the happy hour deal actually said half off...no BOGO mentioned anywhere. They took some time to "fix" it, but then replaced the charge with some BOGO special and the price was jacked up a few bucks. Huh? Not worth complaining about, but with the extremely slow service, the incorrect information, and getting multiple items wrong, there's really no point in coming here again. Not sure why other reviews are so positive, but this was our one and only experience and they've been in the business for a number of years now. You'd think they'd be better. Maybe our modest expectations were too high, but they easily could have done better in so many little ways. Much faster service, when taking orders, actually make sure the orders come out correct. Stand by your happy hour deals on the menu you handed to us. Be more attentive to your guests. read more

Popped in here for a quick dinner and was pleasantly surprised. First, there was a table of folks (possibly a co-worker Christmas party) who were doing some majorly off-key karaoke. Highly entertaining. The servers were exceptionally friendly and the owner was just as good natured and went to various tables, making sure their meal was everything they expected. I got a dinner combination which included 2 enchiladas (your choice of meat), a tamale (again your choice), and rice and beans. I chose chicken for the enchiladas and pork for the tamale. The chicken was in little chunks--not shredded--which made the enchilada have a unique texture. It was still good though! The spices on the tamale made me sweat, ya'll! I was downing the water. Being in an out-of-the-way strip mall, we never noticed Cielito Lindo before, and now we're sad that we've missed out on the past 5 years of their great Mexican food! The first thing we noticed when we entered the restaurant is that it was spotlessly clean. We were met immediately and a basket of chips and salsa arrived quickly. The chips were hot, and the salsa tasty. The music wasn't too loud, so we were able to have a nice conversation waiting for the food. I ordered enchiladas verdes, and they were really good; not greasy. The ingredients were fresh. We may not have noticed them before, but they're on the list now. We'll be back. read more

Yummy Tex-Mex is hard to find in Minnesota, but Cielito Lindo gets pretty dang close. We ordered some take out from this local eatery last week- basically enough food for a football team- and we loved it all. They have these super convenient combo meals that you can get on take out. They come with all the fixings, including chips and salsa and even a couple Pepsis! They were very easy to order from and pick up was a breeze. Awesome place! This is the first Mexican restaurant I have been to that really felt authentic, not only in the food but in the atmosphere. They staff seemed to really care about whether we were enjoying the food and having a good time. We had the enchiladas with shredded chicken and ranchero sauce and the volcano chimichanga with queso sauce. We were stuffed and still managed to enjoy a fried icecream. There was a karaoke entertainer that started at 8:30 on a Saturday night (all in spanish and upbeat). This spot is quaint and cute. Both indoor and outdoor seating. They have bar top, booths and tables. It's also always a nice perk to be able to see into the kitchen area. Clean basic bathrooms. The service was great and friendly. Had the classic free chips and salsa offered upon arrival. The food was great and they had so many options in the menu. We were so surprised with the portions. My daughters kids meal (cheese quesadilla, rice, and beans) was enough for an adult to eat. The kids menu has options between Mexican food but also had chicken fingers and cheeseburgers available. Our leftovers from fajitas will even be enough for 1-2 lunches even! The Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita was delicious. Love that you can really taste the jalapeño. We really enjoyed dinner at this restaurant. We arrived a little before six, so were able to take advantage of happy hour margaritas, and got the cheese and chorizo dip and tableside guacamole. In general, all of the portions were very generous, and very fairly priced. Our waitress was extremely friendly and accommodating, and our orders were accurate when they came out. We ordered the ceviche appetizer with the Sweet Jalapeno Margarita the El Volcano Chimichanga and hubby ordered a captain coke with the Outlet Fajitas. Sadly our food came out before the appetizer. So I told our server we no longer wanted it. The owner came out to apologize and make it right. It was our servers 1st day; I can only assume we were her 1st table. The food and drinks were amazing. Fresh food, great flavors and an owner that treats you like family! The shrimps are huge! The reviews on Google and Yelp were excellent so we decided to give this place a try. We ordered Fajitas Amigos (beef and chicken), the Bravo Quesadilla with Chicken and chips and salsa. Strike one: They wouldn't allow us to mix corn and flour tortillas with our nearly $20 fajitas order. Seriously, how difficult is this request to accommodate for a paying customer? I wished I would have canceled the order in hind sight at this point. Strike two: Missing our chips and salsa. The order was to go. We open the order at home and were disappointed to have no chips and salsa. Annoying. Strike three: The portions for the fajitas were much smaller than expected. As compared to other local Mexican restaurants i.e. El Loro, Teresa's, Boca Chica, Don Pablos, etc., what we received would barely fill a Chipotle burrito. We felt cheated by Cielito Lindo. One would think for nearly $20 that the fajitas portions would be decent at least. But they really skimped on the meats and over did the onions and peppers. Strike four: Bland fajitas. Strike five: Over priced. So many better priced and better tasting options available. I wish them luck, but we won't be back. Lesson learned for these reviews... Don't believe the hype. Read carefully the 4 and 3 star reviews and some of the critical reviews to get an realistic idea of the restaurant and the food. read more

We visited here a couple times for gatherings with friends because that's where they choose to go for their event (i.e. a going away party, & it's right behind our apartment). Three times visiting now, & every time, service is horrendous. The waitresses (if you wanna call em that), stand around the bar chatting the entirety of their shift. Refills on beverages are never given unless you spend half hour meal trying to catch the attention of one of the girls. & I say girls, because they sure act like school girls. Food is mediocre & never anything special. The only thing I enjoy about this place is the hot tortilla chips, which even then I guarantee are store bought & left under a heat lamp. Tonight we got a huge dish to share, I forget the name of the dish, but it's a seafood platter served in a large stone bowl. $50 for a bowl full of tiny frozen & thawed shrimp, squid & mussels. In addition, my dad ordered a ceviche combo as an app, $16 I believe it was for a tostada piled high with overly soured thawed shrimp & octopus. We got our usual plate of beans, lettuce, sour cream & rice to pair with this dish, but I am not impressed. I'm never impressed. I won't be back. Never again, I have the worst headache, and it was from the singer, I just wanted to eat and have some margaritas, half way through my meal they have a singer come on, he is blasting the volume!!! Me and a few other people were holding our ears, dude is yelling into the mic, plus the volume is loud!!!!!! He also has the vibrato turned on his mic so his voice is echoing off the walls, since there's no sound barriers, he's pitchy, so when he doesn't hit his notes it's painful and sounds worse.
