My family loves dining at El Loro, we definitely have our "fav" locations but are generally open to checking out the nearest locations to where we are at when we decided to dine. This was my first time checking out the Eagan location. They have parking on both sides of the restaurant (parking lots) which is nice. As we were walking around to the entrance a person sitting on the sidewalk patio was throwing something to the trash (which was risky to begin with) and hit my sister. Not sure why they felt the need to be throwing things and the fact that they missed and didn't even get up to pick up their litter was distasteful. We were able to get a table right away. We were place by the door/cashier area. We typically eat the same things every time we go so we were ready to order right away. My sister gets the burrito ruleta and I get that or the taco salad but sometimes I forgot to tell them no beans which I almost always regret. I also ordered a glass of horchata, which comes in a giant glass. You get complementary chips, dip and salsa which the white dip is my fav! Food came out quick and was good. We were given the bill and at most locations you pay at the cashier stand, the receipt actually says to pay the cashier. We got up to pay and all of a sudden no one is at the stand. A man eventually some over and my sister hands him the money and receipt and walks off (idk why she did that) but the man assumed he could keep the change despite me standing there waiting (it was my money, he seen the whole time we were on the same tab). At first he refused to give me my change but I called my sister to come back to tell him that that was my money and he then gave me the change. The whole situation on both parts (my sister and the cashier) was odd and how the cashier handled it rubbed me wrong. Like we were sitting less than 20 ft from the cashier the entire time and all of sudden you don't believe/recall the table? And then the waitress came up to the stand to see if we're going to tip, which I did & always do but the whole thing was a mess. Also charge an extra fee for using cards doesn't matter if it's a debit card or credit card. Besides the check out situation the service was good.

Had a great experience, came here around 4 o'clock, super empty. It got sort of busy around five so plan accordingly... Parking lot has many spaces because it is in a strip mall. Everything was exceptional and as ordered, this time we were not charged for extra salsa as we were the time before hence the five stars! Noise, level wise, the busier it gets, of course the louder it is, it's not too unbearable, though and conversations are easily heard. This is a fan favorite in our household, and we will always be returning.

I sat at the bar for 15 minutes before I received any service. I listened to the male staff say inappropriate things about every person in the restaurant in Spanish (how silly to believe people don't speak Spanish) ... Because of the ridiculous delay we had time to look around and the place is filthy. Terrible servers. Terrible food. Never again.

I've loved this restaurant for 20 years! A true gem in the Eagan neighborhood. CONSISTENTLY, food has been delicious, service has been excellent and the value is awesome enough to bring the whole family. Ambiance is good, but not modern. It's clean and the walls have beautifully awesome cultural murals and paintings. The full bar makes for a nice happy hour too. Here's what we ate: - Complimentary Chips and 2 Salsas (5/5). Not sure what the white sauce is made of, but the kids and I love it. Hubby prefers the salsa. - Steak Fajitas $15 (5/5): the portions are large enough for 2-3 people, and my favorite part is when it comes out sizzling on a hot plate. The meat and veggies are so flavorful! - Chori Pollo $15.75 (5/5): Chicken breast meat with chorizo sausage and nacho cheese. Really good. - Carne Asada $16 (4/5): meat was a bit dry for me but still tasty. - Combo 6 $11.50 (5/5): Enchiladas and Taco. They do the basics really well here. All of our meals came with beans and rice. The rice is just ok, but they serve the BEST beans with melted cheese on top. Delicious! Even when the place is packed full, I've always received amazing service here. Everyone is super friendly, checks on you frequently, constantly refills our drinks, and the food is out quickly. When I used to work nearby, it was my department's favorite lunch spot because of the great food AND quick service.

Spontaneous late family dinner one Saturday night around 7:30pm. Our table of 6 was seated quickly. Service was spot on... I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he was friendly and funny. Kept us on our toes. Restaurant is in a strip mall in Eagan. Not super big, but there's plenty of tables and appeared to be outdoor patio seating as well. Decorated festively, too! I enjoyed the jalapeño poppers and nachos. Both were served hot and tasted good. Each tortilla chip had meat on it... not something you come across all the time. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. We all left with full satisfied tummies. Lots to pick from on the menu. I'll have to come back sometime.

The food is always great, and the staff is always very pleasant and efficient (like you're going in starving, and you're coming out fat and happy, ready for a siesta in 30 minutes). The helpings of food and beverage are always huge. They make their own chips, and I LOVE their chips and whatever their queso blanco sauce is. It isn't a cheese, more of a tangy crema. I give it 4 stars for two things - first, it always has this very strong odor of cleaning agent. Like pine sol or something. I appreciate that they keep the space clean, but it's honestly a really overwhelming perfume smell when you're wanting it to smell like food. The second thing that I don't love is that their tabletop sauces look unmonitored. We use some of the same hot sauces and such at home, and they're supposed to be refrigerated once opened and I'm guessing they don't refrigerate and replace them regularly because they are off color. Still overall recommend for generous portions of Mexican fare for a good price.

I came here with my family one day after work and it wasn't too busy. We were able to get a large table for everyone at around 6 pm. I called ahead and they told me that the tortilla chips were in a dedicated fryer and gluten free. For a meal I got the chicken fajitas with corn tortillas. They were not my favorite corn tortillas but it was still a good meal overall. They were very reasonably priced for how much food I had, I had leftovers to enjoy the next day. There's a parking lot that has plenty of space as well. Our server was great at filling up our waters and making sure we had everything we needed!

Chips, salsa, spicy ranch

Dropped in for lunch after an airport run. The place was clean and quick. They served their chips with a bowl of salsa and a bowl of spicy ranch that was surprisingly delicious. I ordered the Jalisco; the meat was a little overcooked but the shrimp was perfect. And they had Horchata, which is reminded me of my visits to Guatemala. Would stop by again.

Good food and service, the portions were generous. It was a welcoming environment and a very busy place. It's definitely worth a visit.

I really like the story that gets told about how this cookie-cutter gas station has a food counter…read morewith mind-blowing food. But that last part doesn't match my experience. I had so-so birria tacos (no consomme, single soft-corn tortilla) and so-so horchata (served in a sealed bag that looks like an IV pouch, actually kind of funny), along with a tasty and particularly juicy elote. My friend got the Asada Mulita and he quite enjoyed it. That seemed like a good deal for $9, and $4.90 per taco for what I got is okay. The ambiance absolutely does not rise above what you would expect from an unremarkable, utilitarian convenience store with a few tables that aren't routinely wiped down. You can order online (highly recommended) or from a screen near their covered-up window. Whenever a food place is clearly hiding its employees from its customers, I'm nervous that I will be ignored. But someone was constantly popping out and asking people what their names were, and telling them how many minutes they can expect to wait. (Waiting = standing next to the salty snacks shelves.) I see now that they have Al Pastor Chicken with Pineapple Pico and I definitely want to come back and try that. Maybe I'll raise my rating if I love it. Meanwhile, I'd recommend considering this at least for the experience, but order ahead and expect a 30-minute wait. Also note that they close at 7pm.
