Rusty Taco immediately became our go-to lunch on 4.12.2025 when we realized how close it was to the Canyon West shopping center off of the Marsha Sharp Freeway. Easy parking. Nice service, albeit a little slow and not clearing tables as quickly as they should have. My youngest daughter and I both tried the Dynamite Shrimp tacos ($4.95 each). I preferred these over the Baja Shrimp ($4.25) variety which my oldest daughter ordered. We'd go here again. I'd probably opt for a fish taco and a margarita next time. Thanks to my Yelp friend Jonathan B. for his recommendation in his 5/24/2024 review. TIPS + Free Taco when you join Friends of Rusty! + Breakfast tacos are served here all day. Today I made my second visit ever to Rusty Taco. The first time I liked it, this time I loved it. I now intend to be a regular here for my Tex-Mex fix. For a weekday at lunch time, it was quiet. There were only a few other diners, which I think enabled the staff to really focus on excellent service. After ordering, I picked a table and they brought my food to me. The ambiance was fairly relaxed. They play a kind of random assortment of music - I heard both classic rock and modern pop. There are at least five TVs with an array of channels from sports to game shows. I ordered just one taco, the Baja shrimp. It comes fried or grilled with choice of flour or corn tortilla and it was marked on the menu as a "team fave". It didn't disappoint, though I think it was light on flavor to really knock my socks off. I got the Tres Grande to accompany my taco. This is a pile of chips with guac, queso, and salsa. The chips are "endless", so if you run out (and I did) just ask for more and they'll bring them right out to your table. I got all that for right at $15 and it was every bit worth it. The employees went above and beyond to thank me for being there this day, a level of service that is rare in this category of restaurants. Just writing this review makes me eager to go back again. read more

DON'T USE THEIR APP OR ORDER ONLINE. I like the food but had a horrible experience after ordering on their app. They didn't have the fritters and I was told I would get a refund. Never happened. Messaged them online, no response. Went again in person and was able to get a partial refund but they were trying to give me $6.50 the price in store, not what I paid online. They ended up giving me $11 cash, not the full amount with taxes. Very annoying and felt like I was an inconvenience the whole time. read more

One of my favorite taco places. However, their bowls are what I continue to get. They have so much flavor and the price is better than most other places. It's always clean and staff is great. read more

Rusty Taco - Tacos Near Me - Lubbock, Texas

This place has potential! First off, the service was excellent. Friendly and helpful and I couldn't have asked for more. The restaurant was clean and looked after. As for the food, the chips and salsa were pretty decent! My wife has a chicken fajita bowl and said it was "okay". Nothing special. I tried the brisket nachos and they were not good. Just bland and flavorless. The sweet BBQ drizzle didn't work well with any of it. We both thought it was a waste of money. Next I had the Texican taco and it, too, was bland and just a barely decent taco. I wouldn't recommend them. The BEST thing I've eaten in a long time was the Crispy Chicken taco. I could have eaten 15 of those things. Absolutely delicious! I definitely recommend and will be returning to Rusty Taco soon, if only for plenty more of those crispy chicken tacos!! read more

Came in for lunch with the family. we were told it may be a little slow as they were short handed as they only had two employees. Every time we come in, we see the same young man in the kitchen. Today he was working the kitchen and the counter and passing out orders. His name is Roan , and I hope the company appreciates him. He was a one man show today, and didnt let us down. great job Roan!! read more

This place is delicious, clean and great service. I got the texmex..... I went back inside to order another one it was delicious ! Service was great salsa chips and queso. Wayyyy better than torchys.... read more

Very similar in concept to Torchy's Tacos, but some differences for sure. Queso was good, but not quite as good as Torchy's. Tacos were very good. Lots of variety, nice environment. Would go back for sure. read more

Very yummy! Everything I have tried at Rusty Taco has been great. The place is always clean, including the restroom. The staff has always been friendly and fast weather I am dining in or picking up. read more

The tacos are great - filling, several choices, toasted tortillas, and awesome flavor. Their chips and guacamole, along with hot sauces, are great tasting as well. read more

The staff was friendly and attentive. Inside and outdoor dining areas were clean. The tacos were a disappointment. I ordered the Rusty Taco and expected fresh pineapple only to receive dark brown, tasteless pineapple and more diced onion than protein. The restaurant was empty so there was no need to rush anything and the produce to be served in such a state seems wrong. I only wish I took pictures. Also, no hot sauce is offered? read more

Tacos were very good! Loved the fried chicken and Baja shrimp. Salsa, Queso and guacamole were all good. Churros filled with caramel were the best part! Oh and the staff was wonderful! read more

Good food. Nice service. Chips and Queso are great. Prices are good for amount served.

Food is great. Not badly priced . Staff was friendly. Place was very clean . Got food as soon as I got there

Really enjoyed this new spot ! Great service and alot of items to choose from on the menu ! Not to mention the pricing is not outrageous

The food is wonderful. We ordered 3 different tacos and all of us were extremely pleased with the taste and the amount of food on the taco. We ordered chips and queso. Queso and chips were good. Their teas is delicious and fresh. Service was extremely good, very friendly, happy, helpful workers. It's a very comfortable atmosphere and the music is just right to enjoy, not blaring where you can't even talk. Plenty places and choices of different seating. We will defiantly be back. read more

Not good. Very low quality food. Chips were the best thing we ate. Margaritas were awful. They were very slow, and I could see why with the food they are serving. It was very pricey for very small tacos. read more

I've worked in service and I would leave 0 if I could. Wasn't even greeted upon entrance until about 4/5 mins and ended up getting the food and it was undercooked and super soupy/greasy. I asked for a full refund, and they just refunded me for just the raw tacos.. even tho I had just lost my appetite due to eating raw meat. Sure I had a sip of a margarita but that should be null and void imo.. something I shouldn't even have to explain.. awful management because he didn't even say a word to me and middle manned the whole thing... I will not be back to try this.. though I doubt they'll be around longer if they keep up this shit. read more

customer service was horrible. Took a while to be greeted when walked in. Both blonde girl and the male manager were looking at me from the back the whole time before the blonde girl came to the register. She was very rude from the start. Talks to quite, and rude. Food was not cooked, (beef was raw). all around not a good place to go! good value Torchy's tacos is what it is. don't go here, not worth your time or money. Only refunded for the one taco instead of the whole order. Pretty disappointed I wasted my time going here, idk why it has such high reviews. read more

A knock off of Torchys taco I found this restaurant to be of much lesser quality and much pricier. We were greeted by a very polite young lady who was well versed on the menu and extremely customer focused. We order multiple tacos and queso and found the meat to be very dry and the taco to be very skimpy. The queso had great flavor but not of the quality of Torchys. Overall the place was clean and staff made multiple table touches to check on us even though table service was not expected. read more

Absolutely love this place! I personally think the Taco's are excellent, plus you can get breakfast tacos all day. My favorite is the grilled fish taco, I get it every time we go, plus one experiment taco. I also think the chips and queso or salsa are great. Rusty has replaced the other taco shops for me. read more

food was decent. wasn't the best taco i've had but also wasn't the worst. however the service was pretty awful. i felt like an inconvenience to the workers there when i asked for the smallest things. the soda was literally flat water and the sweet twas was just icky:( for a brand new place i'd hope that they would try a bit harder. read more
