Jimenez is like Bruce Wayne by day and Batman by night. On the weekdays, Jimenez is home to the best tacos you can get in Lubbock. So many times in college, I would stop by Jimenez mid-day for my fix of their Three Amigos plate: Asado de Puerco, Carne Guisada, & Picadillo. Served with a fair helping of chips and salsa, it was a perfect lunch. Their tacos made them one of the best spots in Lubbock. Their placement in the Top 50 Taco Joints in Texas by Texas Monthly is well deserved. On Saturday, the game changes as they serve a Texas Monthly recognized barbecue. Their brisket is delectable, their sausage has a perfect kick, and all their sides are delightful. One of their delights is the La Tia. A barbecue sandwich except it's served on a house-made concha. Holy smokes. It's sugary and if served with brisket, is a glorious creation. I was driving through Lubbock and had to make a stop when I found out they were serving barbecue on a Friday. I got their Brisket Specialty Taco: two corn tacos with beans, shredded cheese, fried egg, and, of course, brisket. In addition, because my greed has no bounds, I got their Philthy Taco: 2 corn tacos, fried egg, potatoes, salsa ranchero, queso, and their smoked barbacoa. I called ahead and ordered before they closed at 2 pm and picked them up right at 1:57 pm (praise the lord). I mowed down both of them. For two tacos, they are most filling. I would've been full off of one. I am still wowed by what they can whip up. It's to-go only as Jimenez runs a small little shop on 34th Street, but they pack it with a ton of love and might. saw a lot about the brisket breakfast taco, but it's only sold on the weekend as a heads up i opted for a lemon empanada and la boracha bfast taco. the lemon empanada was soooo delicious. the crust was soft, buttery and smooth while the inside was not too tart. the taco however was a bit too messy for me. the corn tortilla was great along w the egg, but overall it was not groundbreaking. the service was amazing however!!! read more

This place is EPIC. Sometimes you feel as though you are just ordering from a place that GETS YOU. That's exactly how I felt at Jimenez y Friends in Lubbock. I loved all the wonderful options that they had. Getting the taco plate and substituting for the pork belly, barbacoa, and brisket was a top 5 decision of my life! Apart from the wonderful food, I had an excellent experience getting recommended the favorites of each of the staff members! It is such a cute and cozy place as well. Yum, yum, yummy!!! You have to go early though we got there at 11 and brisket and sausages sold out. My husband had the pork belly tacos and they were delicious!! Stop here for some amazing bkft tacos & stellar service! It's to-go only, but no factor. The La Borracha Taco add Bacon & the El Cochino Taco add Potato were both superb. The El Cochino had a nice little bite to it, and both were packed with flavors. The fried egg was cooked perfectly on both. YUM! Jimenez y Friends is a hidden treasure! We ordered several different breakfast burritos so we could try most of their options. Sausage, brisket, carne guisada, potato, and barbacoa. All of them were delicious, but the carne guisada was outstanding! The burritos are huge and to make it over the top, you get to grab a free beer as you leave with your to go order. WOW WOW WOW! It was love at first bite. The philthy taco is top notch along with La jefa taco the egg was a delicious touch! Now the carne, guisada burrito was really good not that big, you could have 2 if you are really hungry. Heaven. Some of the tacos i have eaten outside of the Valley. And these guys do some mean work on the smoker. I had some brisket and ribs that were off the chart. If Aaron Franklin from the world famous Franklins BBQ in Austin were siiting down with a plate of these guys ribs he would be crying like a baby over how damn good they were. In fact i think these guys should change the name of the joint to Jemenez Heavenly Tortilleria and Taco because their has to be an angel somewhere to make food this good. read more

GREAT BURRITO...BEST IN LUBBOCK. FAMILY RUN AND OWNED. Man, I couldn't believe the taste. You can order off their extensive menu or do like I did, order how you want it. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito with Everything...The kitchen sink. HUGE Burrito with real authentic home-made hot sauce. This thing was SO Huge, I ended up putting the last 1/3 of it on a saucer and eating it with a spoon. What a delicious treat. And speaking of treats, there is a good variety of Fresh Baked breads, cookies, sweets to choose from too. One of the owner/managers came out from the back to great me and ensure that I was filled in with all they had to offer.
