Hungry and in West FortWorth I saw "R Taco" and checked it out on Yelp. (As one tends to do) The star reviews were promising so I took a leap of faith and visited the establishment. The decor is outstanding. It's hard for me to explain but let me take a shot at it. It's Lucha Libre meets Arizona. I'm adding some photos and you can make up your own mind. The restaurant had one table top (i.e. one table worth people) the rest of the place was desolate. In fact, it took a bit to get someone form the back to take my order. I ordered three tacos. The BBQ Brisket, The Rajas, and The Beef Fajita. The tacos were "meh". The Brisket lacked any brisket flavor. The Rajas were dusted in queso fresco which really isn't what rajás are usually mixed with since queso fresco has little flavor and as the name suggests is more fresh and light. This really didn't help the tossed ancho pepper and onion's flavor much. The Beef fajita missed the mark as well. There was no caramelization, and no real beef flavor. It tasted like the beef was over braised. And none of the tacos were properly oiled. I.e. there was a serious lack of grease or fat. For the love of all that's holy in this World, at least add a squirt of olive oil. And, yes, before you ask. I did taste the three sauces they provided. They are reasonably named Mild, Medium, and Hot. The Mild was tomato sauce, the Medium had some flavor and the hot had some habanero in it but no flavor. I would have named them Tomato Sauce, Mild, and Habanero Medium. I'm sure the "stars" this establishment has must come from something but it wasn't anything I saw or tasted on this trip. I give this establishment 2 stars for the decor and that it might be a good place to meet up with the friends before going somewhere else. read more

We stopped by for a quick lunch and were seated and served in less than 10 minutes! The service was great, and the staff was warm and welcoming. Worst experience ever. First of all, I ordered a margarita and per the cards sitting around they are $3.50 on Tuesday but the girl kept trying to charge me $8. Finally I showed her the card with the Tuesday price and she rang it up. But they never gave me the margarita. I had to ask for it multiple times. The girl taking the order was struggling just taking our order. I kept having to repeat myself. I ordered a large chips and queso and had to go ask them if they could give it to me while I waited on my tacos... the manager gave it to me but gave me a small queso. I had to tell her I paid for a large. Then... I had been there the previous week and ordered the shrimp tacos and they drowned them with the sauce. It was terrible. So when we went back 10/17 I requested the sauce on the side. When they came out one had sauce on the side and the other the sauce was again drenched on the taco. So I requested they remake that taco and actually spoke to the manager. She took my taco and then they never remade it. So I'm sitting there waiting until finally I had enough. Went to the register and asked for a refund for that taco. The girl I spoke to said she didn't take my order. Does it really matter who took it? Just give me the refund. That girl had been training the girl who took our order and was standing there when we placed the order. Anyway the entire time she was processing the refund she just kept smirking at me. I was so angry. That was so rude. I looked over at the manager and she gave me a dirty look so I went over to her and asked why she was looking at me like that. She said nothing. I have been to Rusty Taco twice during lunch hours. I was surprised at the few folks on premises. Both times the staff out numbered the patrons. why? Their tacos are good but they are not OMG CHANGE MY LIFE tacos. They are good tho. The absolute do not miss offering is their queso. Queso and chips are pretty much OMG, tho maybe not life changing. This place ought to be more popular. Maybe its their prices, tho I think they are affordable. Maybe it is because they are on the corner and a little hidden. We went here for the first time this afternoon for a quick lunch. We ordered chips and queso, the rajas taco (vegetarian mushroom), the picadillo taco (beef, onion, cilantro, and potato), and the original fried chicken taco (fried chicken and coleslaw). The chips were awesome! They were not greasy at all! They were lightly salted and thin, which I love. The queso was had just a little bit of spice and was really yummy. The rajas taco was delicious and had a little bite to it. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, slightly soft but not mushy. I could eat one everyday and be happy. The picadillo taco was spicy and greasy in a good way! It was flavorful and we'd get it again for sure! The fried chicken taco was crunchy and soft and tasty! And we'd get that one again too! They had lots of drink selections but we just got a regular fountain coke. The people were all very nice and friendly! The decor was modern and clean. 10/10 would go again!!!! read more

R U Ready For Some Tacos?! Rusty Taco, aka "R" Taco, isn't too bad. The tacos are tiny, but good. The queso is really good and it's really inexpensive. You can feed the whole fam for around $25-30, easily. It's not quite authentic taqueria quality, but it's better the Bell, Bueno or Casa. If there's a line, the ordering process is a little slow, but we always seem to get our food fairly quick. Check it out for a quick, inexpensive sit down meal for the fam. read more

I came to rusty taco with my best friend from high school and it was delicious! I had 2 tacos, 2 sides and a frozen sangria swirl. I paid ~$11 (it was happy hour), so that is a steal in my book! My pastor had cold chunks of pineapple on top, my order came out incorrect and it wasn't very busy. It's better than fuzzys but not up to torchys level and far behind taco heads and salsa lemon. I think it is super weird that they check the ID of everyone that orders drinks, regardless of age (meaning my 75 y/o grandma) with a machine that connects to the DMV/DPS registry. This place is good. Now is it the absolute best tacos ever? I mean with the taco revolution these days, the competition can be fierce. However, you can get you a pretty good taco, with no skimping on the inside of it(got brisket, was plenty meaty,and had good bits of onions, cilantro,cheese etc) and at a great price. Its good. The elotes, pretty good too. They had great flavor and seasoning. I felt like I was winning when I got a nice yummy filling taco and an order of elotes for right at about 5 bucks.
