I have to start out by saying I love the food. The tacos, guacamole and queso dip are all delicious! The service is not very good, however. We went to dinner there tonight, and 25 minutes after we ordered we finally went up and asked for our meal to go, as we had plans. the response was "I'll start that order now." It had been 25 minutes since we ordered, and no one has started our order... they were somewhat busy as it was about 6 pm, but there were 5-6 people behind the counter making food. I ordered 4 margaritas with no ice for curbside pickup. I called and they told me a girl was waiting at the back door with my order. I pull around to the back and no one is there. The door is locked. I called multiple times to get my order and they kept hanging up on me. Finally I went inside, waited in line and got my order. I got 4 margaritas (prepare) with ice, which sucks because I have to drive 15 mins home to drink a watered down drink. I will be calling management tomorrow because the bartender told me it wasn't his problem. I wish I could have cut my loses but I paid via credit card in advanced. The overall quality is okay, the service was amazing! The lady that took our order was super nice and was very personable. Having said that I paid 14 dollars for 3 tacos a drink and chips. The fried chicken taco literally taste like a McDonald's crunchy snack wrap, the ground beef tasted like a taco kit you make at home. And the brisket was definitely out of a tub. Sounded like the were short on the line, but regardless, waited 45 minutes to make 2 breakfast tacos, didn't have any chips and they threatened to 'dump out our drinks' if we didn't leave. I am not sure exactly when R Taco opened, but after reading the good reviews and saw the menu, we decided to give it a try. It is located in the heart of UD, near Milanos. Went this morning during the 11 o'clock hour and it was packed. Lots of people in line, lots of people eating, and a steady stream of people (college kids) coming in after we got in line. Their menu is pretty simple, basically tacos (all under $3 each if I remember correctly), breakfast tacos, which are served all day, chips, a couple of desserts, a limited kids menu and cheap margaritas and beer. When I finally made my way to the front of the line, I had questions about different menu items because I don't like spicy food, and I was pretty disappointed that when I asked if different ingredients were spicy, the answer was "I don't know." If you work at a restaurant, you should know answers to questions like these. We wanted to try a variety of tacos, so we got a crispy chicken, bbq brisket, regular brisket, and the texican taco and two orders of churros. It took about 10 minutes for our order to be ready and we got it to go. When we got home, my brisket taco had no cilantro but was otherwise fantastic! Extremely tender, delicious brisket which, as another reviewer stated, was not at all fatty. My chicken taco and texican tacos were good too, but not my favorite. Hubby loved the BBQ brisket taco. Next time we will get only brisket tacos. Try them, you won't be disappointed! The churros were SO good as well. Two for $2.00. We didn't get chips since we got our order to go, but they must be good because almost everyone eating in had them, and it appears that you get free refills. Score! Unfortunately, none of the staff were friendly. I think probably because they are overwhelmed at the popularity of the place and constantly being slammed, but really it doesn't take a lot of effort to put on a smile and be kind. Rusty Taco - Inside R Taco - Tex-Mex Near Me - Dayton, Ohio

My wife and I tried R Tacos last week for breakfast and again tonight for dinner. Neither trip impressed or even satisfied us. The chorizo in my breakfast taco has been overcooked to the point of being almost crunchy. And the tortillas weren't even warm, they tasted like right out of a bag from the grocery store. Which particularly disappoints me after the restaurant posted pictures on yelp of tortillas on the grill. Must be a fake. Tonight the brisket was so lean and dry it was hardly identifiable or edible. The beef fajita was little dry lumps of some vaguely beef-ish thing but not at all good. The "guacamole" is only avocado and tomato; no jalapeno, no cilantro, no onion, no flavor. And the tortillas weren't even warm! I didn't even bother finishing my margarita. This space used to be Qudoba, before that is was a Cajun restaurant, before that a coffee shop... I expect it will be something else in 2 years when the novelty of bland tacos wears off. Update: R Tacos is based in Dallas. If you look at the Yelp Dallas reviews, most R Taco locations get 3 stars. Same complaints over and over, small portions served cold. Why would the owners of this new place (from Milano's) buy in to a mediocre franchise? read more

This is a great place to get a quick bite, but you could sit for a while on their indoor/outdoor bar or patio. Being close to University of Dayton's campus is a big plus. The tacos weren't too big or too small and the flavors are yummy for the price. I got a grilled fish taco and a fried shrimp taco on my last trip and they were delicious. I've also had their black bean and veggie tacos, which are also good. Their margaritas are worth the trip, too! The only picky thing is that the breakfast tacos come on flour tortillas, and the dinner ones come on corn - and as someone who can't eat corn, I didn't catch that until after I ordered one time, so just be wary of that. Has a fun college vibe but the food is nothing to brag about. The tacos are dry unless you pay extra for toppings like sour cream and guac. You don't even get to choose between a corn or flour tortillas, I guess they only do corn. The margaritas aren't great either but you get what your pay for. The tacos are okay. Being from Chicago I've obviously had better. What killed the entire experience was the fact that they allow smoking on their patio. Obnoxious, disgusting, vile smokers pollute this otherwise reasonable taco joint. If you're a lovely and wonderful non-smoker get your food to go. They keep the windows open by the bar and the smoke comes in at a heavy clip. Imagine eating your tacos in a smokers lounge with zero ventilation. read more

I really, really want to like this place...as street tacos are some of my favorite. But, sadly, I just can't give a good review. First of all, the service is SLOW in every aspect. It took 16 minutes to get the tacos. And, to get a drink at the bar takes 6 minutes. The margaritas taste like watered down margarita mix and no sign of tequila flavor at all. This is a great riff on SoCal Mexican and that's coming from someone who lives in SoCal.The tacos are inexpensive, so there's a lot of variety. Ate here for the first time tonight. I thought it was fantastic! I had a brisket breakfast taco, some sort of pineapple taco and a shrimp taco. Everyone of them were great. I'm going to go back and take my wife. Reminded me of a place we love in northern Cincinnati called Tortilla Garcia. I really liked the fact they had breakfast all day. The place was clean and the staff was very friendly. The only thing I would change would be the strength of the margaritas. I thought mine was pretty week, but overall very good experience here. I was left disappointed. The ingredients were not fresh, the meat was bland, and the overall combinations of ingredients did not work well or compliment each other. If you should order fish tacos, don't plan on getting fish with your taco. I asked to have my taco remade because there was 4 tiny lite pices of fish. Tacos were pretty plain. It's decent. Nothing to write home about. I got the shrimp, pork and rajas tacos. The rajas I took one bite of and didn't like it, so naturally I took another bite and liked it even less. The shrimp was a 7/10- pretty good and the pork was a 6.5/10. I only went once, and I think I just ordered something bad. It was a pork taco with pickled something on top. I don't remember, because I couldn't even eat it.
