I have to start out by saying I love the food. The tacos, guacamole and queso dip are all delicious! The service is not very good, however. We went to dinner there tonight, and 25 minutes after we ordered we finally went up and asked for our meal to go, as we had plans. the response was "I'll start that order now." It had been 25 minutes since we ordered, and no one has started our order... they were somewhat busy as it was about 6 pm, but there were 5-6 people behind the counter making food. We'll likely go back just because the food really is good, but I wouldn't advise going here if you're on any sort of time crunch. read more

Slowest. Service. Ever. Waited 30 minutes for two tacos. And they were out of chips. Yup, never going back.

I ordered 4 margaritas with no ice for curbside pickup. I called and they told me a girl was waiting at the back door with my order. I pull around to the back and no one is there. The door is locked. I called multiple times to get my order and they kept hanging up on me. Finally I went inside, waited in line and got my order. I got 4 margaritas (prepare) with ice, which sucks because I have to drive 15 mins home to drink a watered down drink. I will be calling management tomorrow because the bartender told me it wasn't his problem. I wish I could have cut my loses but I paid via credit card in advanced. Don't take curbside orders if you don't have designated parking spots or actually offer the service. read more

The overall quality is okay, the service was amazing! The lady that took our order was super nice and was very personable. Having said that I paid 14 dollars for 3 tacos a drink and chips. The fried chicken taco literally taste like a McDonald's crunchy snack wrap, the ground beef tasted like a taco kit you make at home. And the brisket was definitely out of a tub. So for the price it's not worth it for 3 dollar per Taco. read more

My number one taco ingredients. My number three favorite shells. The chips and salsa are also a good choice. I think the next time i go i am going to bring my own shells from Taqueria Mixteca. read more

Not sure if we caught them on a bad night, but last night at R taco was brutal. Sounded like the were short on the line, but regardless, waited 45 minutes to make 2 breakfast tacos, didn't have any chips and they threatened to 'dump out our drinks' if we didn't leave. First and only visit to R taco. read more

Great tacos! Good variety, service. Salsa and queso better than Chuys. Great outdoor patio and walk up window for service for and to bar access. read more

I am not sure exactly when R Taco opened, but after reading the good reviews and saw the menu, we decided to give it a try. It is located in the heart of UD, near Milanos. Went this morning during the 11 o'clock hour and it was packed. Lots of people in line, lots of people eating, and a steady stream of people (college kids) coming in after we got in line. Their menu is pretty simple, basically tacos (all under $3 each if I remember correctly), breakfast tacos, which are served all day, chips, a couple of desserts, a limited kids menu and cheap margaritas and beer. When I finally made my way to the front of the line, I had questions about different menu items because I don't like spicy food, and I was pretty disappointed that when I asked if different ingredients were spicy, the answer was "I don't know." If you work at a restaurant, you should know answers to questions like these. We wanted to try a variety of tacos, so we got a crispy chicken, bbq brisket, regular brisket, and the texican taco and two orders of churros. It took about 10 minutes for our order to be ready and we got it to go. When we got home, my brisket taco had no cilantro but was otherwise fantastic! Extremely tender, delicious brisket which, as another reviewer stated, was not at all fatty. My chicken taco and texican tacos were good too, but not my favorite. Hubby loved the BBQ brisket taco. Next time we will get only brisket tacos. Try them, you won't be disappointed! The churros were SO good as well. Two for $2.00. We didn't get chips since we got our order to go, but they must be good because almost everyone eating in had them, and it appears that you get free refills. Score! Unfortunately, none of the staff were friendly. I think probably because they are overwhelmed at the popularity of the place and constantly being slammed, but really it doesn't take a lot of effort to put on a smile and be kind. I definitely think they have some kinks to work out, but definitely a promising contender of UD area restaurants. read more

Rusty Taco - Inside R Taco - Tex-Mex Near Me - Dayton, Ohio

My wife and I tried R Tacos last week for breakfast and again tonight for dinner. Neither trip impressed or even satisfied us. The chorizo in my breakfast taco has been overcooked to the point of being almost crunchy. And the tortillas weren't even warm, they tasted like right out of a bag from the grocery store. Which particularly disappoints me after the restaurant posted pictures on yelp of tortillas on the grill. Must be a fake. Tonight the brisket was so lean and dry it was hardly identifiable or edible. The beef fajita was little dry lumps of some vaguely beef-ish thing but not at all good. The "guacamole" is only avocado and tomato; no jalapeno, no cilantro, no onion, no flavor. And the tortillas weren't even warm! I didn't even bother finishing my margarita. This space used to be Qudoba, before that is was a Cajun restaurant, before that a coffee shop... I expect it will be something else in 2 years when the novelty of bland tacos wears off. Update: R Tacos is based in Dallas. If you look at the Yelp Dallas reviews, most R Taco locations get 3 stars. Same complaints over and over, small portions served cold. Why would the owners of this new place (from Milano's) buy in to a mediocre franchise? read more

So good! I just tried their Philly cheese steak tacos(only for a limited time!) And they were the bee's knees! Awesome tacos, super friendly staff and two thumbs up! read more

This is a great place to get a quick bite, but you could sit for a while on their indoor/outdoor bar or patio. Being close to University of Dayton's campus is a big plus. The tacos weren't too big or too small and the flavors are yummy for the price. I got a grilled fish taco and a fried shrimp taco on my last trip and they were delicious. I've also had their black bean and veggie tacos, which are also good. Their margaritas are worth the trip, too! The only picky thing is that the breakfast tacos come on flour tortillas, and the dinner ones come on corn - and as someone who can't eat corn, I didn't catch that until after I ordered one time, so just be wary of that. Overall, this place is great to go in the morning, afternoon, or evening. read more

Cheap tacos and margs, tex-mex style. Fast service, fresh flavors, and the best churros outside of Disneyland. People next to us waited a long time for food but the manager comped their meal. Will be back! read more

Place is slamming. Great mix of tacos and can get breakfast ones anytime of day. Clean, new, friendly, and great food, all make for a worthwhile stop. Oh and I can only imagine in the nice months how hopping this place is with the roll up garage doors and patio. read more

Has a fun college vibe but the food is nothing to brag about. The tacos are dry unless you pay extra for toppings like sour cream and guac. You don't even get to choose between a corn or flour tortillas, I guess they only do corn. The margaritas aren't great either but you get what your pay for. Personally, I won't be going back, there are far better places to get tacos. read more

Ordered fried chicken taco, brisket taco and Baja shrimp taco. Shrimp taco was tasty. Brisket was ok . Fried chicken taco was ridiculous. Had 2 of the absolute tiniest pieces of chicken known to mankind in this taco. First piece was a max of 2" x .5" (and that's generous) and second was about half the size. Slaw was dry and tasteless. $3 for this? I've had better tacos from Taco Bell for cheaper. I won't be back. Ordered with DoorDash and took FOREVER. read more

The tacos are okay. Being from Chicago I've obviously had better. What killed the entire experience was the fact that they allow smoking on their patio. Obnoxious, disgusting, vile smokers pollute this otherwise reasonable taco joint. If you're a lovely and wonderful non-smoker get your food to go. They keep the windows open by the bar and the smoke comes in at a heavy clip. Imagine eating your tacos in a smokers lounge with zero ventilation. read more

I really, really want to like this place...as street tacos are some of my favorite. But, sadly, I just can't give a good review. First of all, the service is SLOW in every aspect. It took 16 minutes to get the tacos. And, to get a drink at the bar takes 6 minutes. The margaritas taste like watered down margarita mix and no sign of tequila flavor at all. The beef in the taco was super greasy and lacked flavor of any kind. The chips and guacamole were great. Order some while you wait 16 minutes for your food. read more

The tacos are good as well as the queso and chips, my only issue is that they usually have one person operating the cash register at lunch time and the line will get to the door very quickly. read more

Drew is the best bartender in town. The food is fresh and fast. Great outdoor seating. Greenstreet and chimichurri taco are our favorites.

This is a great riff on SoCal Mexican and that's coming from someone who lives in SoCal.The tacos are inexpensive, so there's a lot of variety. Surprisingly one of my favorites was the shrimp that my husband ordered. The iceberg beer-margarita mix will keep me coming back again again, because they are excellently refreshing. read more

Ate here for the first time tonight. I thought it was fantastic! I had a brisket breakfast taco, some sort of pineapple taco and a shrimp taco. Everyone of them were great. I'm going to go back and take my wife. Reminded me of a place we love in northern Cincinnati called Tortilla Garcia. I really liked the fact they had breakfast all day. The place was clean and the staff was very friendly. The only thing I would change would be the strength of the margaritas. I thought mine was pretty week, but overall very good experience here. I would recommend to anyone. Very budget friendly as well! read more

Ordered several different tacos off the menu. Overall, they were bland and tasteless. The tacos sound really good when you read the menu. I was personally excited to try them. I was left disappointed. The ingredients were not fresh, the meat was bland, and the overall combinations of ingredients did not work well or compliment each other. Very disappointed because I really wanted to like this place. I left hungry after eating a few bites of each taco. This place needs to improve. read more

I just thought the meat was flavorless, and the shrimp was super fishy. I had beer so I cannot complain there because you cannot mess up corona. The staff was friendly enough, but I just cannot get over how awful the food was. Sorry but we will not be back. read more

We love R Taco, need this franchise to expand. We moved from the Dayton area, really miss our trips to R Taco. The food is fresh and flavorful. My wife doesn't like margaritas but loves them at R Taco - they're that good. Please bring R Taco to Charlotte! read more

Really friendly service! Great atmosphere! I Loved the fried chicken taco and delicious guacamole. Can't wait to try the shrimp taco next time. read more

I really love the chips and queso here! The staff is always super friendly and always happy to chat with you when things aren't busy. I haven't tried the margaritas yet, but from what I've heard, they're pretty great. The Texican taco is really good too. I would absolutely recommend R Taco! read more

Very disappointing for a first time try. We ordered for work. The order was completely wrong. When called they wouldn't offer to fix it. So most people didn't get lunch bc several of the tacos were seafood. I don't think we will try again. read more

If you should order fish tacos, don't plan on getting fish with your taco. I asked to have my taco remade because there was 4 tiny lite pices of fish. I watched the interaction with the counter gal & the guy making my fish taco he was less than thrilled to make another taco that actually had fish in it. read more

Coming from a So.Cal girl - yes - this is fantastic! I've been searching for a great fish taco, and alas, I have found it! I recommend to anyone looking for authentic Mexican street tacos. This fits the bill. Will most certainly be back. read more

Tacos were pretty plain. It's decent. Nothing to write home about. I got the shrimp, pork and rajas tacos. The rajas I took one bite of and didn't like it, so naturally I took another bite and liked it even less. The shrimp was a 7/10- pretty good and the pork was a 6.5/10. Hope this is somewhat helpful. read more

Every time I come in here I feel like no one working has any idea what they are doing. Everyone on the food line is always confused and asking questions. I've been waiting for to-go tacos for at least 15 min and during that time several people have come up to the counter asking questions or requesting items they didn't receive. And everyone behind the counter just is like "Oh ok". It's not even busy. I don't get it. read more

Laura was a great bartender. She was fast and polite. The atmosphere was good and the price was reasonable. I would recommend to others.

I only went once, and I think I just ordered something bad. It was a pork taco with pickled something on top. I don't remember, because I couldn't even eat it. I got it to go, and as I drove home and once I got inside my house, I realized the Taco smelled awful. Horrible. My roommates smelled it too, and we had to throw it out. Don't know what the deal was. The only thing I liked here was the margaritas. read more

We were so excited to eat here and try this place out. Everything seemed great when we walked in... and this is where the "good" stopped... the food was awful, the bartender didn't even acknowledge my husband and most of the tables were dirty with old plates and cups. We had to ask other dinners about napkins and salsa (which are in squeeze bottles everyone handles and isn't sanitary) and never even got water ... yeaaaaa this place sucked read more

Mediocre tacos that are small and include very few ingredients, i.e one of the vegetarian options included only a few peppers and onions as the entirety of the filling. Strange atmosphere as well. read more

Good food, love their breakfast tacos, great management! Maddie was very kind and accommodating !

Love stopping by R Taco! They have great breakfast tacos available all day long. I love the egge, cheese and bacon ones! The pulled pork tacos are awesome too. The margaritas are delicious. They also have seasoned drinks that change...when UD was in session they had a delicious frozen drink that I hope they have again! yum! We love the warm chips, queso and guacamole. read more

The tacos are good. They aren't the best in town. But they do have a nice variety. I like the breakfast tacos best.

Flavorful street-style tacos in a venue with several seating offerings (bar, restaurant, patio). Margaritas are cheap and do the trick but won't change your life. Decent tap list. The service is quick and staff friendly even when it's busy, and the patio is nice when he weather cooperates. read more

Listen I was stoked to see that R Taco was open late since my usual go to taco place closes at 9. However, the brisket and pork was dry as hellllllll. It was all like super dry. It was not good. I am very disappointed and not stoked about it at all. Total let down. Maybe it was a bad night though. The bar was busy so who knows. Everyone has bad nights. It's ok. I'll try again another night. It's ok. read more
