We stop here all the time when we don't really have much planned for dinner. I've taken several groups of people here so they can try it out or my husband and I just go the two of us. The queso is really good, the food comes out fast, and the tacos are unique both in style and flavor. We keep going back to the original Rusty with the hope that it magically gets better when in fact it's worse each time we go. High rate of turnover in employees has resulted in staff that's frequently barely competent enough to do their jobs; I'm often left waiting for my chips and queso while the cashier who just took my order stands around checking her phone or chatting with other employees. Shrimp tacos used to come with a lime wedge but now I have to ask to get a sliver of lime that was obviously cut days ago. Tacos generally take for-ev-er to get made and are cold more often than not. I need to stick to the Inwood Rusty; it's weird what a difference it is between the two locations but it's like night and day. read more

Rusty Taco, upper-Greenville's new Austin-esque taco shop, features 9 corn-tortilla based tacos, each priced simply at 2 bucks. For me, the standouts were the Rusty Taco with pork, grilled pineapple, and a semi-spicy red sauce and the Shrimp Taco, lightly fried popcorn shrimp in a creamy hot sauce. Less variety and overall flavor impact than my favorite of this breed, Taco Joint, however a good location on busy Greenville Avenue and a large patio mean it's not a bad choice for a weekend lunch and a couple of Mexican beers. Summer could be challenging since most of the seating is on that large outdoor patio and July and August aren't exactly outdoor dining friendly in Dallas. read more

I find this place a great place for a quick snack or light meal! I find the prices are economical for the delicious food they serve! I went to this place once and fell in love! The service is friendly and they take the time to explain out the options available to you! Plus they set your expectation for when to expect your order. The only reason for the two stars is their super friendly staff mostly college students and their killer habanero sauce.. That being said, the food is not up to standards. Tacos are cold and the chicken fajita is rubbery and does not look like fajita at all. Too small tacos but I guess that is what you get for 2 bucks each. Tried this place twice before writing this review. The breakfast potato tacos are not that good. The potatoes are too crunchy for me.. Overall. an ok place and good for single try... I might be wrong and might had bad experience both the occasions. Go judge for yourself. Hope the owners realize this. But I don't think they will have a big problem with 15000 students roaming around every semester. read more

Have been to Rusty's three times now. I think their grilled fish tacos are really, really good. They are fresh, never fishy tasting. The slaw and sauce is perfectly balanced. I add salsa to mine. Love these tacos and for the money, you cannot beat it! I also like the 5.00 margarita! Not so sweet and perfect with my tacos. This place has delicious tacos and fast service. The menu has a wide variety of gourmet like tacos for a very affordable price. My favorites are the shrimp, fried chicken,vans breakfast tacos. Their corn and flour tortillas are chewy and delicious. The tacos are quite small, so, if you're new to this place, I would recommend to order 2-3 different tacos. Con: the margarita is terrible, this is def not a place for margaritas. I had one this morning for brunch, and the mix and alcohol contained in the margarita taste cheap and horrendous. I had about two sips before tossing it, what a waste of $5 for that drink, but I didn't expect much out of this place for margarita. I will only come here for their tacos from now on. I'm dropping Rusty Taco down a star for the bottom falling out of my taco. The past 3-4 times in a row that I've been there, They only use 1 corn tortilla instead of 2 and it gets very soggy from the juices and simply falls apart. I live down the street from here and have been here a few times now. I like the atmosphere and staff there but could use improvement for lunch and dinner. Im kind of a picky eater and all of the tacos come premade with thier own gourmet customization within it so its hard to ask them to leave things out. I would be in favor of a plain taco that I could add my own ingredients to. Breakfast is a completely different story. The potato taco's (nice and plain my style) are to die for. I visit there more than once a week to get my day started in the morning. I highly recommend trying these. read more

I love Rusty Taco. They are super cheap and have a nice reliable product. I usually get the chips and queso, which is excellent, especially for the price. In addition, I usually get the Raja (veggie) or Baja shrimp taco. Both are excellent. I tried the brisket taco once and it semed dry to me. The tacos are small, but very tasty. I like going when the weather is nice so I can sit out on the patio, as the ambience isn't great inside. They have very fast and friendly service. I like them far better than some of the other super quick taco joints. As some have said, parking leaves something to be desired, but for a cheap fast meal, it can't be beat. The first time I came here I came back the next day for lunch again... and then dinner on the third day in a row. Definitely recommend their shrimp tacos (without cabbage for me at least), their brisket taco (lunch, not breakfast) and the fried chicken one is unique and tasty.
