I got married at the Silvertip so I am bias about this location. However, I do have to admit they make a really good steak! I have been to Rustica a couple times since my wedding. One was an anniversary dinner and another time because I craved an AB steak after moving to Toronto and knew this place is good. The restaurant does make a good steak. They are expensive but the meat melts in your mouth and is cooked to perfection. Portions are quite large. I ordered a French onion soup as a appetizer and regret it. It was DELICIOUS but it was huge and I was full by the time I got my entree. Therefore... heads up if you decide to order an appetizer, you might want to share it. Tip: When you make a reservation and want a window seat, make sure you indicated it to the restaurant to ensure you get the table you want. All I can say is excellent service, delicious food and wonderful ambience and decor, beautiful background music. Our server,Isabelle was truly delightful and I highly recommend you be seated in her area. I asked for a refreshing cocktail and I was treated to a very refreshing Lychee Orange Twist which consisted of gin, lychee, lemon, grapefruit, bitters, simple syrup. Perfect drink for a hot day, not overly sweet like most summer drinks. Rustic is located by the Silver Tip Golf Course, amazing views with plenty of outdoor seating. Prices are not cheap but you truly get value for your money. We ordered Caesar Salad-romaine lettuce, croutons,bacon,special Caesar dressing, shredded parmesan cheese. We were treated to a palate cleanser of mango and jalapeño. Absolutely delicious! Our main dishes were Seared Prawns and Jumbo Scallops-Seared Hokkaido Scallops, Jumbo Gulf Prawns on a bed of Cremini Mushrooms and Spinach, Fresh Shucked Oysters-Fresh Oysters with Mignonette, Worcestshire, Horseradish,Greens,Lemon, Rack of Alberta Lamb-Alberta Raised Lamb, Herb Crusted Sour Cherry Sauce. Had a Mojito and one of the best Americanos I have had in a long time. In fact the Americano was so good I ordered another. Our dessert was Parfait Suchard-Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream blended with Nougat and Kahlua. The grand finale was a 40 year old Tayler Fladgate Port. Overall, a truly exceptional dinner evening. My fiance and I had a great dinner at Rustica. Service was quite slow but our waitress was very attentive. We had the table d'hote, which at the time was based on french cuisine. The starters of frog legs and quail were both delicious. The main course was a filet mignon topped with goose liver and it was easily one of the best steaks that we've ever had. Unfortunately, the desserts that we had that night were practically inedible. They offered the whole dessert menu to us but we ate the ones off the table d'hote menu which I think was the problem, maybe stick to their traditional desserts if you choose to have one. There's no mistaking the fact that this place is known for their steak, stick to that and you will have a great meal. read more

Wonderful food and service at Rustica! I had the tenderloin while my husband had the sirloin steak. And be sure to add the peppercorn sauce, it's fantastic. The smashed potatoes and side veggies were perfect. Our server Stefanie was very friendly, courteous and attentive. We would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, as we liked it so much we went back a second time during our trip. BTW on the second time my husband had the Elk Tomahawk. They updated the decor and the menu but the service is still just ok. They always seem short staffed . The views at the Silvertip golf course are always stunning and the ambiance is comfortable so it's not a bad place to chill while waiting for food and drinks. The food is good and they feature seasonal menu choices. This is one of my neighborhood restaurants in Silvertip Resort. Honestly, Rustica didn't blow my mind, but I'm no fine dining expert. The food was great as was my glass of wine, but there was only one main dish on the menu that I would eat because I'm not a huge meat fan. I ordered the Tuscan style chicken breast, which was expensive but very flavorful. My favorites, which are likely less exciting to most, were the escargot stuffed mushrooms and the fresh bread. The views of the golf course are fabulous and if you're lucky, you'll get a good seat. The atmosphere isn't anything new and service was just fine. We had a tiny squirrel visitor, which was the only other living being in the restaurant looking for food along with my spouse and I for some time. There were eventually 5 other patrons but otherwise it was dead. My spouse and I agree that it's worth the visit once if you happen to be in town. read more

I went for the Canmore Uncorked $49 3-course set-menu dinner. Turns out it was also on the regular menu for $45 but without the free glass of wine which they were offering al la carte for $7. So basically $3 off as a bundle. The Diablo Prawns appetizers was very tasty. I went with the server's recommendation of the 5 oz beef tenderloin which was excellent and perfectly done. The asparagus was perfectly cooked (al dente) and the recommended dessert (waffle with peanut butter ice cream) was good. read more

Need to say I ventured out of our normal places in Canmore to try the restaurant at the club and I've NEVER been more disappointed in a lunch in my life. Asked in the reservation for outdoors if available ... you know Father's Day and all ... but was denied as a whole section of the restaurant patio was closed?? We then had the slowest and most uninterested service I've had in a long time (especially since Calgary and area service is already so fucking poor). It ended with a lunch bill over $150 for sandwiches and wings. A complete disappointment and something I will suggest all friends steer clear of. read more

I was looking for someplace special for my wife and I for dinner to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Given our love of the mountains and the Canmore/Banff area, I decided to concentrate on finding something in the area with great food, and a great view. Ultimately, I settled on Rustica, and I'm so glad we did. While it's a bit confusing to figure out which building it is in, as there are 3 with no signage that jumps out at you, the general location isn't hard to find. Just follow the signs for Silvertip golf resort, and you can't miss it. The restaurant itself is actually in the back of the club house, and I have to admit that I was a bit concerned about the ambiance given that it's just down the hall from the pro shop. Having said that... The decor is an interesting combination of fine dining, heavily influenced by western decor. By that, I mean western style chandeliers, and wood, but at the same time, nice chairs, candles, and what I generally refer to as "snooty" music - you know, the kind of easily forgettable piano music that just sort of plays in the background. While not the most "romantic" place I've eaten, the service, mountain view, and their attempts to project class more than makes up for it. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated promptly, and given the wine list (on a tablet no less, which is fantastic as you can get a description of the wine you're considering just by tapping it - though our waiter knew enough to make this unnecessary). The menu is fairly small, with a handful of dishes other than steak, and a few salads and desserts. Both my wife and I settled on a 10oz Filet Minion, and a salad. The Caesar I had was one of the better I've had anywhere, and my wife was thrilled with her salad, which sadly, I can only describe as being a mix of greens, herbed feta, and Swiss dressing. Our steaks... Wow! Just wow! Cooked absolutely perfectly, and so tender. They're served over a mix of roasted potatoes, and a few veggies that we're all cooked well, and a bit different than most restaurant veggie offerings (broccolini? Apparently, I love broccolini. Who knew?). The one downside, if you can call it that, is that they are definitely not cheap. 2 steaks, salads, and glasses of wine worked out to about $175, but honestly, it was worth every penny. While I wouldn't go that often based on the price, I do recommend dining there at least once in a while, or for a special occasion. If you're like me though, and considering ordering the 10oz steak, maybe reconsider and get the 5oz if you want to try dessert. We never did get that far as we were just too full. Hands down the best steak I have ever had. This is an absolute must visit if you are going to Canmore or Banff. I would say that this place actually puts Calgary Steakhouses to shame! The chef has just released a signature steak, a 30oz bone-in Prime at a cost of $99. I witnessed two of these go out during my visit and both were shared between two people. Wow, I really enjoyed myself at Rustica! The Alberta beef was excellent, the few was perfect, the service was top notch and the food was just memorable! There's nothing wrong with paying a little more for a fancy dinner, and that's what we did for my birthday. 4 of us total celebrate this dinner with me and everyone left with the biggest smiles on their faces! Although pricey, this was well-worth a visit. The servers are pleasant, and the ambiance is perfect for the occasion, whatever it may be. The food was fantastic and the evening sublime. The views were stunning and the experience was worth the money spent, given that we have older boys who are very busy, and a trip together is a rare treat. Had one of the best steaks ever here and start to finish, all the courses were perfect. The food was fantastic and the ambience is probably the best in Canmore. The restaurant, as others have said, is extremely well laid out and it's easy to have a private conversation. The staff are easy going, attentive and they all were nice and relaxed which allowed for a nice flow to the meal. Lots of seating near the windows, which have great mountain views. We were lucky enough to catch the moon going over a mountain during our meal AND watched two full grown male Elk outside our window. What a gem, we will be back often! read more

This location was selected for Christmas day dinner as we were in Canmore enjoying a break from the hustle and pace of the city. The choice of Rustica could not have been a better choice from the physical restaurant through to the service. Upon arrival we were promptly seated inside where they have no more than 70 seats which makes it very close in and intimate. The main room has a high vaulted ceiling with a large timber trusses showing through which certainly confirms that you are in the mountains in a lodge type atmosphere. The menu for the evening was price fixe that offered many selections including beef filet, traditional turkey and a salmon section. Personally, I could not resist the beef as I had heard Rustica sears a mean beef - they did not disappoint! The menu offered sides that when ordered as a group allowed one the have a little of everything. Rustica had a very talented musician named Charlie Butler whose soft mellow working of his guitar provided an excellent backdrop to the sense of being in the mountains high up top overlooking Canmore. The server was attentive and personable with a good knowledge of the food preparation and its pertinence to setting the food apart. Overall, I would return and would suggest that the drive out from Calgary would be well worth it. read more

I had read the fab reviews on Tripadvisor so I was really looking forward to eat the steak here. I wanted to eat the famous (?) alberta beef. The steakhouse is located in Canmore, a little town outside of Banff, and it is in a golf course. The setting was really nice. We were seated by the window, and we could see a deer and a great mountain view. Price was really reasonable. Three course meal for $50. You get a choice of truffle mushroom soup or harvest salad (with strawberries and mango), choice of your meat, one side and a dessert (lemon tart or chocolate cake). Everything was very very tasty and we were really satisfied except for the steaks... I ordered medium rare filet but it was medium, almost well done... and was drenched in this salty sauce which was completely unnecessary and really killed the flavor of the meat.
