On the plus side, the bathrooms are top notch for a camp ground. Very clean and beautiful stone. Shiree, the manager or owner went way out of her way to make things right for us. There was an issue of odor in Hattie Wells cabin and she found a solution for us. I'd like to see them let folks know where the recycling dumpster is. I noticed most of the stuff in the recycling dumpster was in plastic garbage bags. If recycling arrives in plastic garbage bags, they won't take it and it goes out as trash. So please, Rustic Timbers, please let people know. Besides that, it was a nice stay. Shiree gave great recommendations on things to do. read more

Nice clean place. A lot of maintenance equipment running all day during the week. Dump trucks, tractors, gators. Less, of course, on the weekends. The pool is very cold, granted, it was barely 70° outside while there. My son liked the pool and bounce pad. The owners/management thoughtfully rescinded the $20 activity fee due to some wind damage the week before that took out a play area attraction. Did not visit the bar on site, it was mostly closed during the week. If we return to Door County we would consider this place again. read more

We drove around Door County to several different campgrounds looking for the best spot for a seasonal campsite, and rustic timbers won our hearts!!! So clean! Freshly laid gravel! Such clean and nice bathrooms! Several playgrounds! Jumping mat! Pool! Ice cream and coffee shop! Jumping mats! Water slides! Awesome clothing! Friendliest staff we've ever encountered! So helpful! Great porch hangout area!! Every other seasonal camper that we met were so friendly! This place is so welcoming, I can't say enough great things about this place! read more

Horrible Management. Worth the read. This is our third, maybe fourth time at Rustic Timbers. Management has never been overly nice, but this time is was ridiculous. Our group of three sites checked in on Thursday. When we previously called we asked about putting two campers on one site and they said no problem. We knew that there was campsite dividing our group so we asked the staff member upon arrival if we could park another camper on our site, no problem (again, each camper had a paid site). On Saturday (we checked in Thursday), right before we were leaving for the day, a staff member came to ask why we had two campers on one site. We explained we had been given permission and she said all was fine. She came back again shortly after and said that the owners were not going to be happy with this and we said ok, could we speak to them as we have been setup since Thursday and we were packed up and leaving for the day AND had been given permission. Also to note: she never once spoke to our friends who had the camper that needed to move, even though she knew it was theirs and they were standing right there. She said we wouldn't want to speak to the owners - and we said we did, and she said ok she'll have them call us. We reminded her again, that we were packed up and leaving for the day. We got to the beach (about an hour or more later) and for the next 5+ hours (of which we had MINIMAL cell service), we received multiple calls and voicemails saying we needed to come move the camper within two hours and then it changed to immediately, that they were unplugging our campers, then they DID unplug our camper (in 85 degree weather)and "they don't know if there is an animal in there" and so on. My husband called back multiple times to explain, that we had already talked to someone and were gone for the day, we had 10 kids at a beach in Gills Rock (over an hour away) and that we could take care of this when we got back. Multiple people spoke to him and each one of them became more and more rude and threatening. The owners husband (Brian), who prior to this, refused to talk with my husband, finally spoke to him and the first thing he said was that he was an "F-Ing idiot" and that we needed to be there within 20 mins or he was throwing our stuff in the hwy. Being that we were an hour away, we called the Sheriff, who said they could not do that to our stuff and to finish what we were doing (which at this point they had ruined our day with all the threats and calling). But, we headed back and sure enough, they unplugged our campers and took our adapter for the plug. When our group went to speak to the owners, she just screamed at us and was so incredibly rude. She also was incredibly horrible toward her staff - who, even though they painted us in the wrong when we weren't, should never have bene treated like that. Again, they never even acknowledged our friends whose camper actually needed to move, which makes me question if this was a strictly a racial issue! I asked why they refused to speak to them and if they had something against them and the owner LOST IT and said we had to leave immediately - 7 months pregnant, 3 campers, 10 kids AND in the rain (We were supposed to be staying through Monday). We went back to pack up and they came with a police office saying we were belligerent and refused to leave, which we told the officer was not true as we were clearly were packing to leave. The police officer could clearly see we were not an issue and left. They refused to reimburse us for the two nights we had left (for 3 sites). Bottom line - had you had a problem with two campers on a site, why did give us permission? AND wait till Saturday to say something and then wait till we were GONE to start calling and threatening us? -Why did you refuse to speak to the owners of camper who needed to move? Was this a racist issue? - why couldn't you simply have said there was a misunderstanding and even though WE WERE GIVEN permission, they would appreciate our moving. You might be SHOCKED at how people respond simply asking kindly or respectfully. -Why on EARTH would you unplug our campers on an 85 degree day!?! Even unplugging our camper in general!?! And even say in your voicemail "I hope there's not an animal in there" - are you kidding me??! -And then to lie, scream, swear at and belittle us. When we did not yell, swear, or be disrespectful at all. I guess I don't care, because you will never take a take a cent of our money again. And I hope everyone reading this review thinks twice about giving this a business your money either. There are alot of beautiful campgrounds in Door County and this one isn't worth your time. Also, all the other reviews referring to the "screaming lady" or the "Karen of the campground" - that's the owner. Very unfortunate. THIS is not how a business operates or how people should be treated. Regardless of the situation. Trust the reviews. Find another campground. read more

We were disappointed with this campground. You have to pay to use the pool, jumping pillows and other amenities! It's $20 per child just to use these things that should be free. I complained and was told "well it cost money to put them in". The only thing that was free for us was the playground, where we found human feces (it was promptly cleaned up after we complained, but still). My cabin was also pretty dirty upon check in. There were long hairs all over the bed. I would not go back or recommend. read more

WE WILL COME BACK!!!!! We camped at this wonderful place and loved it!!! The owners make you feel so welcome and are excited to help make your experience a great one. The campground restrooms and shower houses are clean and modern. Some campsites are rustic and some are open so you have a variety of choices. They also have a variety of cabin sizes! The play area for the kids also welcomes adults too!!! It includes a bounce pillow, water slide, giant sorb ball, playground, game room and more. Being family owned I could tell they took pride in their campground. They are conveniently located in Door County so you are able to do any traveling or sight-seeing you wish. We had a great time here. The bathrooms were spotless as was our campsite. The staff was amazing and very helpful as it was our first time in Door county. There was a lot to do on site that kept the kids busy and happy. We had a great dinner at The restaurant and bar on site. My only suggestion would be a coin machine in the laundry but next time I'll know to bring more change with me. We will definitely be back again soon. The campground overall is very nice. Fun activities for the kids. We are usually tent campers but thought we would upgrade to a cabin since we were staying for a few nights. Unfortunately, we arrived the day of a big storm which took the power out until the next morning. Therefore, the amenities we were paying $145 a night for were not afforded to us. While I understand the weather and power is out of the owners' control, the fact that our toilet was leaking water all over the bathroom floor, therefore, making the entire carpet wet, was in their control. When we raised the issue, they said they would look into it. Well, they didn't and my husband managed to fix the toilet. The next day, my husband asked the owner if we could receive some sort of discount on our first night stay since it so uncomfortable and we were unable to use most of what the cabin had to offer, she basically screamed at him wondering how he could even ask such a thing and gave him a small bag of ice "for his troubles." For the remainder of our stay, they were very rude to us and our children. Again, the campground itself is nice. However, I wouldn't expect much from the owners and would not pay the $145 a night for a cabin. Tent camping would have been more comfortable and cleaner. read more

Decided to stay at Rustic Timbers because it has always been a place for us to stay at as a family in the past. Multiple things i was completely unhappy with including misleading, and lying. Family fun times "should be" filled with "honest" business for families to have fun! We definitely had looked forward to the use of their new Zorbs and were excited that they had these new items. I checked in and almost immediately paid the $25 for our whole stay and use of all the new blow up attractions. The female owner that sold me the wrist band for the attractions did not bother to inform me that the Zorbs were in need of repair, we stayed 4 nights and it still was not fixed at any point during our stay. They kept telling my son that it needed patches and they were in the process of fixing it, simply they just did not do so. Patches are easily bought at Walmart, and patching is NOT hard. My son, age 12, was not that interested in going down a freezing cold (from a garden hose) water slide nor the air trampoline so they only thing he could really do is the jump shots, pedal carts, and bikes with this $25 wrist band. Frankly, if something is broken in the wrist band package then I should have been informed and given a discount but it was just NOT the case. This is just MISLEADING attractions to sell at the original price!!! I then asked about fire wood to find out it was $10 a wagon. This wagon of firewood is the same amount as 2 big bundles 1/2 mile down the road at $2.50 a bundle (half the price). Regardless, the owner told me that the wagon full of firewood should last me my entire stay of 4 nights/5 days. I thought wow, ok, must be good wood then. Such a lie, it lasted 2 fires (1 day if even, not 4 nights). So in reality they are either selling crap wood that burns fast or they are putting chemicals on it to burn fast. Either way, the female owner LIED, it did not last even close to 4 nights! After arriving and setting up on a hot day i went to take a shower, they appeared clean and well maintained till I set a tiny wet paper ball in the shower rooms main mirror area near the corner, it remained there the entire stay so appearances are deceiving. Not only that, but just after the cleaning girls walked out from cleaning, they did not even have any supplies with them nor did it ever smell like cleaning supplies like it used to with the previous owners. I then accidentally forgot my body soap in the shower which was in a container, not realizing this i went to take a shower the next day and seen their posting in the bathroom area only (not in the shower room) that all things left behind will be thrown away immediately upon cleaning. I decided to take my luck and ask the front office if they possibly kept it, they said it would have been thrown away, yet they checked in the locked stock room near the bathrooms for me. Sure enough i was told it was not in the stock room where the cleaning girls would have put it, it would have been thrown away, and had the nerve to immediately offer to buy their cheap branded, expensive, men bar soap. I made do with my kids soap for the time being and the next day, i specifically asked the cleaning girls about my soap, funny enough they had it at the front office of all places and keep things for 24hrs. Honestly during the entire stay the cleaning girls were at least the only friendly employee's and i was grateful they were considerate enough to hold items for a bit before actually trying to sell me expensive things from their store. My stay started on a Tuesday and ended on a Saturday, the place used to have well lighting near the bathrooms and low lights on the main walkway, but since removed. Yes, frankly you should bring one camping anyway, however it used to have "some" kind of lighting down the main walkway. Friday night everyone rolled in for their weekend stay. The campground used to have strict rules of the 10:30pm quiet time but this just is NOT so with the new owners. It was VERY loud and kept me away till around 2:30 am and waking up at 7am to a father yelling at his kids and other kids playing in the area with pedal carts. Previous stays i used the simple tent only sites to use a water supply when needed, the water supply for tent only i noticed has now been removed.. The tent only sites are not as close to other sites. Renting the water/electric site it was much closer to each other, as told over the phone by the new owner it had woods in between and was the same, but frankly it was not (yet another lie), from my tent to the neighbors tent we had about 10 feet of sand/dirt. More to say about this unpleasant stay, even being pretty rude and ignoring my kid clearly on purpose but not enough characters left, In the end i was not even asked how my stay was or i would have told them directly. read more

What a fun place to stay. Had a great stay with family. Staff is great to hang out with in the Pickled Egg. Goood homemade pizza.

Quaint, clean and cozy cabins with a nice staff. A great alternative to tent camping. Also family and dog friendly.

I forgot to mention how much our kids enjoyed the campground. There are lots of activities for kids; a playground, inground pool, huge jumping pillow, water slide, pedal cars and much more. The camp store ice cream is a huge draw for the kids as well. On top of everything else, Rustic Timbers is in close proximity to many other interests and activities that Door County is famous for. read more

Great campground, especially for families. These folks are new owners and really adding a lot more to the campground for an even more enjoyable experience. I was a little unhappy with the husband of the campground. I parked in an area that was a little unclear about parking and he got in my face screaming and yelling. I understood his point but you don't come at people like that. When I gave it right back he backed off and realized that was wrong but still upsetting. He seemed to growl at me for the rest of my stay. That aside the ladies that run this were very friendly. Restrooms were clean but old and can use some updating. I would bet that's on their list. I have to say ... the campground was very nice. It was clean and there were fun things to do (if you could do them). We got there and walked in to three of the most unfriendly faces you could ever imagine (like no emotion at all). My family was already not happy because it was raining and we were tenting it. We could have really used some friendly faces telling us it would still be a great time despite the rain. After setting up, it was still raining and noticed the game room. Ah, something to do on a rainy day! However, it was locked. I went in to check on this and they gave no explanation except that it was closed down and probably permanently. OKAY... Now what to do on a rainy day?? Um ... since it wasn't lightning or thundering, we thought about swimming ... nope they closed the pool and deflated the slide. There was the basketball with the trampolines ... nope couldn't use that either ... yellow caution tape around that. I got the wrist bands and spent $60.00 (how nice of them to give us a $5.00 discount for each kid because of the rain) and the kids couldn't even use them! We asked if we could get some money refunded to us since they closed everything down ... Nope they told us they gave us a discount already. NOT a friendly environment whatsoever. Plenty of nice places with much friendlier people. Not sure how the other posts could say the staff was great ... Must be different people at different times? Because this staff definitely needed a kick in the butt! read more
