Door County is a lovely place but I would come just for this place! Everything is impeccable and shows good taste. The gardens are lovely, the rooms are attractive and have great features such as rain showers and fireplaces, the beds are comfortable, it has a great view of the bay and the town of Ephraim, it is within walking distance of some nice places, and the staff and owners are pleasant and helpful. I'm sure there are other nice places to stay but I'll never find out because my family and I have been staying here the last couple of years for vacation and I can't imagine staying somewhere else! The larger suits are big enough for larger gatherings to play games, which we do often while here. We also loved being able to sit on the large patios and decks to enjoy the fresh air in comfort.

I knew this place would be great when I stepped into the condo and saw that my bedroom had a giant jacuzzi tub in it. Plus a fireplace in the bedroom and the living room! The coziness and luxuriousness was turned up all the way to 11 here. My condo also had a balcony that faced east and overlooked Lake Michigan. I visited when it was snowy and cold, so I didn't get to sit out on the balcony, but I loved looking at the sun coming up over the water every morning. The condo had a full kitchen: refrigerator, stove and oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, bar counter seating, all of the utensils and dishes and cups and storage space you could desire. It was like a home away from home. Plus, there was a living room, small dining room, and a big bathroom, with a shower that had great water pressure. If I visited during warmer weather, I would have taken advantage of the pool outside. But I visited when there was snow on the ground, so the pool was closed, obviously. They do have a gym here. I was able to visit the fitness center each day of my stay, and it also has a dry sauna! I didn't use it, but I love that they offer a sauna. Inexplicably, the fitness center also had a bookshelf full of books that you can borrow. The woman at the check-in/check-out desk was lovely, and gave me lots of good tips about the local Door County scene and suggested that I visit a local bar (Bad Moravian), which I ended up visiting and loving. The front desk also has a big bowl of chocolates, so make sure you grab a handful when you stay here.

We were told this was due to the building being so old, and that we should have called for maintenance every time we wanted to close/secure them. (We ended up propping oven racks and a cutting board inside the window tops to prevent them from being opened from the outside.) The doors didn't line up either making it impossible to open them fully. If you don't mind dealing with some of the issues that come along with an older building, this one definitely has a wonderful view and some convenient amenities.

We rented a 2-storey townhouse unit through our owners membership in Club Wyndham Destinations. It's a beautiful unit with a dedicated garage, two full bathrooms with jetted spa tubs and large shower stalls. The fireplace is real and there are wood logs provided. The master bedroom is massive, the kitchen fully stocked (as with all Wyndhams), but for us the best feature is the enclosed, heated patio with a comfy 4-chairs/table set. It leads to an outdoor deck with a Weber grill. The Recreation Center has a good sized heated pool indoors and outdoor hot tub. You can rent cross country ski equipment or ice skates for outdoor Winter activities. The townhouses are truly young-family-friendly as evidenced by the high chair and booster seat in the front closet. Little Sweden is in Fish Creek, WI, a very cute touristy town. We enjoyed shopping and even attending a local church service on Sunday. For the Summer, we look forward to boating and fishing. We hope to return in the Summer.

I even emailed the Event Coordinator Marie Fende and Event Manager Kayla Myers that we had been working with for the wedding over a week ago about these issues with no response from either of them. We were asked THREE days before our wedding to move where we had planned to have our reception since the resort was having a karaoke event in the bar near the reception room and they didn't want to figure out whose drinks should be free and who they needed to charge for. The chairs weren't set up for our ceremony so my husband started to do it in his tux, a bridesmaid found a staff member who said that this "wasn't his gig" and he needs to be working on the golf course (it's closed for the season) and not working on a wedding. Our cake and cupcakes were all thrown out by staff at the end of the night even though they were not asked to and they were on our personal trays we brought in. We also had two bottles of homemade moonshine in with our belongings that came up missing the next day. Staff yelled at our bridal party for my husband & I taking a golf cart that was supposed to have been left outside for us to make it easier to take pictures on their property, there was never an apology offered after they realized they were supposed to have one out for us. A bridesmaid and myself were unable to get into the space where we were having the reception the morning of and we were told by a front desk employee that housekeeping unlocks that but she had no way to contact them, but would tell them IF she saw them. Our officiant found bugs in his drink, when he told staff about it she replied with "Okay, do you want a new one or what?" Another relative, who I will admit was fairly intoxicated, walked up to the bar and said "I'll take whatever" to which the bartender responded "Oh I bet you fucking will." The 2nd bartender walked past my husband saying "I don't get paid enough for this shit." Almost all of our family members and guests told us that they had called several times leaving voicemails trying to reserve a room but no one ever called them back. One guest was told she needed to listen to the message a little bit better on when to call because it clearly states they're in the their winter hours and not always available to answer the phone, our guest was calling in early September when they were still open during regular hours. The shower nozzle in the "presidential suite" they gave us for the night didn't work, I basically had to splash myself with tub water to try to get clean. The venue is beautiful and we got a lot of amazing pictures, but to spend thousands of dollars and to be treated the way we were, I couldn't recommend anyone get married here, vacation here, or let alone eat here.

If you have never been to Washington Island, it is a real treat. It is totally different from the hustle and bustle that city live requires. I don't remember ever staying anywhere else besides Gibson's since we have been coming up here. Herb and his family have always been extremely nice to my family in welcoming us into their home. Essentially, that is what Gibson's is. There home. The resort used to be an old loggers house. About 20 rooms fill the top of the house, all complete with the exactly what you need for your stay - a bed and a dresser. No bathroom you say? Correct! That's what the outdoors are for.. Just kidding. There is a bathroom, but it is located towards the end of the hall. There is a men's washroom and a women's washroom, complete with a stand up shower and sink (and toilet). If you are looking for the following: *Luxury *Air conditioned splendor *Suites or executive style beds *Continental Breakfast You will not find those here. What you will find is peace, quiet and one of the most beautiful views of Lake Michigan you have ever seen, at an affordable price. As well as the rooms, Gibson's offers several cabins to rent as well, however, if you are looking to book a cabin, you better know you need one about a year and a half in advance because that's how far out the bookings are! If you just want to enjoy the beauty of Washington Island without breaking your bank, Gibson's is the way to go. It's old fashioned, it's beat up, but it feels like home.

We typically stay in Fish Creek, but since we booked our trip only a week in advance, there were no available accommodations there. We decided on Bailey's Harbor instead, which is just a 20-minute drive from Fish Creek, offering stunning views of the lake, surrounding nature, and charming villages along the way. I paid $200 for one night in a Trailside One Bedroom Suite, which featured an apartment-style layout with a queen bed, a pull-out sofa in the living room, a full kitchen, parking, and a lovely view of the wooded trail area. The room was spacious and clean, providing a cozy, cabin-like atmosphere that was more than enough for two people. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with walking trails, stunning views of Lake Michigan, and a peaceful, secluded ambiance. It also offers a dock, beach area, hot tub, and pool, all surrounded by majestic pines. We were able to easily walk to the water, the breakfast hall, and other areas of the property. During our stay, we also noticed a small wedding taking place, adding to the charming atmosphere. The only thing preventing me from giving a 5-star review is the quality of the breakfast. It was typical of a basic hotel breakfast--scrambled eggs made from powdered eggs, cereal, coffee, juice, and so on. As someone who loves breakfast, it would have been a nice touch to have freshly made scrambled eggs and hashbrowns, which would have really elevated the experience for me. Overall, I'm excited to return in the summer to take advantage of the outdoor pool, hot tub, beach area, dock, and outdoor seating. I'm also looking forward to trying the restaurant on the property next time.
