Dock and view from water front

We took our boat from Chicago around Lake Michigan and stopped in Door County, specifically Alpine Resort and could not be more impressed with the level of service. They have a full area to dock your boat overnight with electric and water (although at the time, the water was not set up but they FULLY accommodated by bringing a water line to boat). We ate dinner at Burton's on the Bay and thoroughly enjoyed the steak bites to start and the pesto shrimp was out of this world. We stayed on our boat but our parents stayed in the cottage Mississippi. The cottage was freshly renovated and very charming. Today is our last day and we are very sad to be going but we will forever remember this resort due to the kindness of its staff and the beauty of its grounds. We'll done Alpine Resort, until next time!

Garbage! Probably the worst golf course I've ever played. One of the workers was aroused the whole time we were checking in

Being on the lake is a bonus but in February the point is moot. It was very strange that coffee was not included with the room, but I was told it could be found in the vending machine! This was a major diss satisfier as the hotel lobby. Coffee was very watery and not drinkable for me. We were quite a large party, and it had a nice space for setting up our food up in a loft area above the lobby. Nice pool and whirlpool but with an early checkout time of 10 AM we didn't get to partake. That was disappointing. Asked for a late check out and was given an extra 30 minutes lol this one and done for me.

It is quite spacious, moreso than what some pictures indicate. It's pretty modest, some basic utensils in the kitchen, small electric stove, microwave, sleeper sofa, etc. The TV is very small and old, we ended up watching movies on our computer. Overall the room was dated but pretty clean. Water pressure could be a little better. The heat got hot pretty quick, which is nice in the middle of a Wisconsin winter. If you are in town and spending a lot of your time exploring Door County, this is a nice home base. Excellent location with a few shops and restaurants in walking distance. Check out the Big Easy for breakfast, it's immediately next to the resort. We tried to walk to the Main Street Shops Saturday afternoon but they were all closed. Much of the town is seasonal and we had trouble with places being closed down or shortened hours. The pool was was indoor and they have a heated jacuzzi. I couldn't spend much time in there because the chemicals were making me cough, but my boyfriend enjoyed this amenity. There is no fitness center. Front desk offers free coffee and you can apparently take games to borrow from them, too. We would come back and stay here, it was definitely a reasonable price. However, we probably don't recommend Door County in the dead of winter.

The property is surrounded by woods, which gives it a peaceful, cabin in the north-woods kind of vibe. The lake views are really gorgeous but good luck getting one... By the time we checked in all those rooms were taken, so we ended up with a stunning view of a parking lot and some trees. Postcard material, if the postcard is from a rest stop! Walking into the room, the first thing that hit us was this strong, leftover food smell - like someone had just cooked something super spicy and the scent decided to stay for the weekend. It wasn't exactly the fresh, clean place we were hoping for. And to top it off the other side of the building had its own thing going on - its own kind of funky, musty odor that hung in the air. Not AWFUL, but noticeable. Not the kind of scent that says "welcome" more like "something weird went in the walls". The room did not do itself any favors either, there were dust, and dirt in random spots, and when we made the mistake of checking under the couch and cushions, we discovered a little time capsule of old food crumbs and debris. Cozy! It looked like the furniture had not been updated in a while - unless " 1990s cabin chic" is making a comeback. On the bright side, the shower actually worked pretty well - hot water, great pressure. Honestly that was probably the highlight of the room. Outside there is some tennis courts , and a basketball hoop. Which is a nice touch if you are into that kind of thing, ( or if you need to burn off frustration from your room situation.) Overall the Landmark has potential - the location is solid and the grounds are peaceful - but the rooms REALLY need more attention and care. If they put in the effort to clean better and refresh the interiors, this could be a great spot. Until then, maybe bring some freshener, and DO NOT look under the cushions, and keep your expectations in check!

We called and had maintenance come to the room. The two men said they were really old units and took forever to heat up. They even mentioned we could start the oven to try and warm it up. They also shared that the pool had been closed briefly because a kid pooped in it. Um, pretty sure it takes quite awhile to shock the water so it's safe for swimming again! Gross! We were still being easy going about it all and decided to leave the resort and let the room warm up. When we returned 3 hours later the room went up one degree!!! After calling and asking to switch to another room we waited and waited and eventually went to another freezing room. We were told that all the rooms would be like that and there was no guarentee they would warm up. So packed everything up and headed to the front desk where we were treated extremely rude! The woman refused to tell us her name, told us she would sleep in a 55 degree room and didn't see why we wouldn't. While simply talking to her she claimed we were yelling at her and swearing and even said she was going to call the police. Long story short we wasted a ton of time with the rudest woman. She finally refunded the room and offered not other compensation or apology. We then drove to another hotel where they could not have been nicer. They even gave us a discount because they felt so bad about our experience at the Landmark. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere other than here. They clearly do not care about their customers!! 0 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We rented a 2-storey townhouse unit through our owners membership in Club Wyndham Destinations. It's a beautiful unit with a dedicated garage, two full bathrooms with jetted spa tubs and large shower stalls. The fireplace is real and there are wood logs provided. The master bedroom is massive, the kitchen fully stocked (as with all Wyndhams), but for us the best feature is the enclosed, heated patio with a comfy 4-chairs/table set. It leads to an outdoor deck with a Weber grill. The Recreation Center has a good sized heated pool indoors and outdoor hot tub. You can rent cross country ski equipment or ice skates for outdoor Winter activities. The townhouses are truly young-family-friendly as evidenced by the high chair and booster seat in the front closet. Little Sweden is in Fish Creek, WI, a very cute touristy town. We enjoyed shopping and even attending a local church service on Sunday. For the Summer, we look forward to boating and fishing. We hope to return in the Summer.

We stayed at The Shallows for three nights in October 2024, and the resort is still wonderful under the new owners. Unfortunately, staying at The Shallows now comes with rules - no daily housekeeping service, leave dirty towels outside our door, and receive new towels that are crawling with mosquitoes and bugs. Also, empty our own trash at the dumpster if we don't put the garbage can outside the door by 10:00am, and make your own bed. This was supposed to be a nice get-away weekend where we don't have to worry about housekeeping. While we understand that some things have changed since Covid, we don't expect to pay $200 a night to clean our own room and remove dirty towels and garbage - not our idea of a vacation. We've stayed in many motels and hotels since the Covid pandemic and have always had daily housekeeping. Unfortunately we will not be staying at The Shallows again. The "new rules" should be stated on the web site, and they are not - very misleading. We, and our friends who join us each summer, will not be returning to The Shallows.
