This is the best meal I've had in Door County (and I've been coming up to DC for over 20 years). We did lunch and dinner here. Both were spectacular. Small menu but everything was delicious! Staff were kind and caring and helpful. This is slow food for sure - so take your time. Everything was really thoughtful and perfectly prepared. The ambiance is great. All staff were masked and there was abundant outdoor seating. We had vegetarian options. Kids were welcome. (There was a buttered noodle option for them.) Hard to imagine any way to improve it - a perfect dining experience.

Celebrated my 70th birthday here 5 years ago. Five years later we went to the island for my 75th. Once again we stayed at the Hotel Washington. After the years Jeanne recognized us and welcomed us home. A firm mattress and organic cotton sheets in a comfy, albeit small room. No TV's, no gym...you don't need them as entertainment and execise are all around you. The walking and birding are the pleasures here. You can even participate in a yoga session. Sixteen steps take you to the second floor. A building length hallway that takes you to your room and two communal bathrooms, which are kept spotless. Set your water temperature before you get into the shower. The controls are...sensitive. The breakfast nook provided eggs, scones, fruit and various quality cereals. The fridge had fresh milk and various milk substitutes..oat milk, soy milk. And a yogurt parfait that is to die for! The grounds are beautiful and beckon you to explore. Everywhere you go on the island, you will hear red eyed vireos. I think they should be the island's official bird. Bottom line spending time on Washington Island is a real treat, The Hotel Washington is a classy place to stay while you're there, Jeanne and her staff will make you think you are welcomed and valued as a customer. It's like coming home. The restaurant serves outstanding food. We will not wait five years to return again. This will be a yearly trip from now on.

Great location, food and staff. The menu changes but is always interesting. Tonight we had a pizza with zucchini, red onion, and sausage. Also mouthwatering steak with glazed carrots. Our server Lillie was fantastic. Don't forget dessert, their ice cream is legendary...we had dark chocolate sea salt and Free the Ripple (Smoked plum and caramel ripple. ) . Pro Tip: you can get the ice cream to go.

Amazing place! On a whim I decided to visit the island. As it was taking longer than anticipated to get there (there are numerous breweries and wineries along the way), I called to see if they had vacancy. To my delight they did. I was advices up front that this is an old hotel (1904) and that the bathrooms were shared. They also include breakfast. The rate was fair for being in season The Hotel Charming old building with modern upgrades (the men's shower had a steam option). The king room I got was lake facing, but you can't really see the lake. Still, it's a very nice view of the front yard and lake. The king bed was very comfortable Supper The menu changes, but the food was awesome. Only complaint was the waitress was a little off on checking on drinks and dessert, but we are on island time. The baby grilled eggplant was a great start. The grilled whitefish over the spelt berries was amazing. The wines were a perfect compliment to the food. Although not normally a dessert person, the green coriander semi freddo was amazing. Especially with a Port. Breakfast Coffee (very good coffee) is available at 7 am, and breakfast service begins at 8 am. Breakfast opened with yogurt(which is made on site) over granola and topped with blueberries. The quiche had young sweet corn in it, which brought natural sweetness. It was accompanied by a salad and roasted potatoes.

Wine, French press coffee, and smoked fish dip!

This is a wonderful spot for an afternoon break in the shade with outdoor seating! We enjoyed a glass of wine, French press coffee and smoked fish dip! Our waiter was attentive to our needs. The only reason I didn't give this four or five stars is that I felt like portion sizes were not commensurate with cost.

June, 28, 2019. I had the most delicious Pappardelle with Beef Ragu. Egg pasta and delicious slow cooked beef. The staff was very kind and greeted us four when we came to the door. We were taken to our table. We had made a reservation. The waitress provided a wide variety of drinks, including the sprite, which I ordered. She brought over a glass with ice and a can of sprite. I usually add a small amount of water to my glass of sprite. When we first were seated at our table the waitress brought water over to pour into tall glasses. Delicious water. The seating was fantastic, we were seated inside in the most comfortable restaurant chairs I've ever sat in. This food is some of the best I've had. I have eaten at hundreds of restaurants across the country but this one definitely stands out as one of the best. Gourmet food. The Rhubarb Curd Frozen Yogurt is divine and incorporates the rhubarb perfectly. I also had a bite of the Dark Chocolate Budino which has a beautiful stripe of sour strawberry on the side. It goes perfectly with the sweet olive oil cake topped with dark chocolate. There is hazelnut imbedded in the cake which adds flavor and crunch. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

    Washington Island, WI

After a year of teaching, I felt the need to truly "Get Away" and relax. I chose Washington Island. I had stopped at Hotel Washington the year before for lunch. The food was awesome, and the atmosphere was tranquil. This year, I decided to stay for a week just to soak up the serenity of the Island. Jeannie, Matt, Shanae and the rest of the gang took great care of me! I'll definitely return next year.

Stopped here recently on a chilly fall Friday night with Lady Anne and Harvest Walker. As soon as we walked in we were treated with a warm, cozy environment. We were seated in the main dining - almost every table was full. We were then treated with a wonderful meal. For appetizers we ordered a Side of Warm Bread which came with chives butter, strawberry rhubarb jam and a citrus olive oil. Excellent. Then we had the Smoked Salmon Plate with capers, pickled onions, cream cheese and tomatoes. Very good. I had a Caprese salad which was fresh, and although the tomatoes were not in season, still had a very flavorful taste. Quite Good. For entrees we had Lamb Chops with rosemary mushroom Demi glaze and wild rice. Awesome. Harvest had Pork Tenderloin with a terrific blend of bacon, caramelized onions, white beans and fresh veggies. Flourless chocolate cake and Cheesecake with door county cherries for dessert. Excellent finish to an excellent meal. Highly recommend for a great dinner on Washington Island. It should be noted that Jalapeño's were not present on the offered menu. Still, 5/5

What a memorable stay over the long Memorial Day weekend. The Hotel and restraunt run more like a classic B&B with shared bathrooms 2 full, and two half. So never a wait! The on-site restraunt uses the farm to table and has breakfast at included each day, and nightly dining open to the public. The rooms are appointed with plush linens, spacious and clean bathrooms,The owner was so accommodating to everyone's needs, helped the Mrs. Lower her BP with several breathing tips, and of course the spacious grounds and plentiful outside seating just doing no

But you are not going to Washington Island to be fancy; stay at home to wear your Channel and frolic in satin sheets. You are warned. The double room is rather on the small side but has a bed, a sofa, a few lamps, a TV/DVD set and an attached bathroom. The bed is TINY and squeaky - so be prepared for a bed night of sleep or just send your significant other on the sofa in the middle of the night (works best for couples over 2 years). But what sold me on the place is the free bikes available to all guests. There are plenty of them, and you can even used tandems if it strikes your fancy (I tried and didn't like it AT ALL but who knows?!?). Very nice to go all around the island. Don't miss it. Several grills, chaise chairs and a fire pit and also there for your comfort. Take advantage of it. A solid option on the other side of the Death's Door.
