Rating is not for the food. I'm hoping to one day try a taco from this establishment- but at this point I'm doubtful that the universe will align in the precise way it needs to, in order to obtain a meal. Going back to April I became very excited to learn a much loved taco place was moving into the old Landing space. Months later I spy an open sign. That following Friday I attempt to spot after work, but at 8:10 they were closed. Oh well. Weeks later on a Sunday- I have time to go out for a meal with the fam. Ah shoot, closed on Sundays. Weird choice for the village of Fairport, but ok. Today, doing a bunch of work around the house and could just run down for some to go and maybe a refreshing beverage while I wait. I walk in and see what appear to be employees or owners at the bar. A host makes eye contact walking towards me from the kitchen. I say I'd just like to place a to go order. Host looks at the group at the bar, a woman sends the host into the kitchen to ask if they can do a to go order. Host advises me to have a seat at the bar and look at the menu. A moment later host returns to tell me no- they are not taking to go orders and that it's just "hit and miss" for dinner, but they do to go for lunch. (Dumbstruck I smile and figure I'll just see if they have margaritas for when I come back) at that point a very sweet bartender ask me if I'm ordering. I say, I wanted take out but was told I couldn't get it. She replies "is it a big order?" I say no, and she says she doesn't mind doing it if it's just a couple tacos. Now I'm confused. But I let the bartender know that the kitchen had been involved and she withdrew her statement. As I'm leaving, hungry, hot and dismayed I realize how very off-putting the whole interaction was. And the bigger issue of limited access to the tacos makes me think this is not going to be the taco joint I've been hoping for. Now that I'm back home and find that the hubby and kids are hungry too, I think I'll order to go tacos from Lulu's- just down the street too. read more

This was a really great pork taco. Though I am always a little disappointed when they are served on flour instead of corn tortillas (which probably would've been messier). Probably the best food truck experience I've had in Rochester to this date. The quality and flavors of the food are top notch. It is pricey, as you would expect with any truck in the area. This is not for the food as we didn't have any. We walked in about 8 PM on a Friday. It was a holiday weekend and the place was busy. I asked if we could sit on the patio. The lovely hostess said wait a few minutes and I'll clean off a table. She comes back and says "Follow me". So we head to the patio door and a waitress says something to the hostess that I can't hear. All of a sudden we are directed to a crummy little table by the kitchen door. She said we can't seat anyone else on the patio. Every other table on the patio was full and I could see the table the hostess cleared off for us. So we left because the noise level inside was about a jet engine level. I have heard that there are major service issues at this place because the owner has never run a restaurant before but decided to give it a try anyway. Will not be back. read more

We had dinner at Rustic Taco on Friday evening and found both the food and service to be excellent! We ordered a variety of tacos, and each one was flavorful and fresh. My husband ordered macaroni and cheese that wasn't very hot and when he mentioned it to our server she immediately apologized and went and got him a new, fresh and hot bowl. Hands down the worst dining experience of my life. No reflection on the lady who seats you or the server who kept apologizing, they were fine. But starting with the grumpy bartender, to the long wait for a table, to the band that was SO LOUD (6 piece band in a tiny space) that we couldn't hear ourselves think, and finally to the forever wait for our food, blamed on the large party they were trying to service, it was absolutely ridiculous! We told our server we had waited too long and she came out with a platter of loaded taco chips on the house. Nice gesture, but if the cook staff had time to make that platter, why couldn't they just make our tacos? We have gotten take out from the restaurant location at 153 Lake Rd, Ontario, NY several times and enjoyed everything we have tried so far. Our current favorite is the DRUNKEN NACHOS with the ROOTSTOCK PORK, yum! It comes with fresh chips, Beer queso, amazing roasted corn and other toppings. They graciously offered to pack it deconstructed so it travels safely and remains crispy. We find there is enough for dinner for two. I ordered the pork taco with ginger slaw, pickled onions a chipotle aioli, however I switched out the pork for chicken. The favor profile was phenomenal. Even though the chicken was not the original meat for this taco. I can just imagine how it taste with the pork, even though I don't eat pork. I tried Rustic Taco after reading some reviews that were positive. Sad to say my experience was not positive. The environment was not very clean or sanitary. The individual that cooked my food had gloves on while preparing . However, while I was there another employee or possibly even the owner came in. This individual seemed quite angry. Never said hello nor had a smile for this new customer. Stood behind the counter and started to help with my order. Put a glove on one hand only. Started to grab things out of the cooler and then just start touching everything. I wanted to cancel my order but I felt bad for the person that originally took it. The truck did a popup in our neighborhood tonight and it was A M A Z I N G! I had the pork taco and it was a party in my mouth. My wife had the shrimp taco and although she's not a big fan of spicy things she loved it. We ordered nachos to share with friends. They were also excellent. This is not your typical Mexican food.
