Elote corn, Steak frites taco, and whiskey bbq taco.
    Jeremy J.

Cool place with a comfy feel that was very busy, which is always a good sign. Our waitress was nice and attentive for how busy it was. The tacos here are unique with a garbage plate taco, steak frites taco among others. They don't skimp on the the size or fillings for the tacos which I guess warrants the higher price per taco. You shouldn't leave hungry which I love. Overall the food was good. I had the steak frites and whiskey barrel bbq taco. Both were very good and my wife had the rustic beer fry(fish) taco and mango marg taco. 2 downsides that pushed me from a 4 to a 3. We ordered the elote corn side dish. It came out as corn on the cob which is not practical for dining out given the amount of toppings. We managed to cut a bunch off and the flavor was great but a mess. The other was a takeout order that we were bringing home for our daughter. It was entirely incorrect and the items we got were about 1/2 the price of what we ordered. We didn't realize until we were home staring in the face of disappointment and refusal to eat what we delivered from our daughter. That said I would still go back, but lesson learned on the corn and takeout.

Service was attentive, parking up in the lot behind isn't a far walk. The place is cozy and comfy enough, well lit. The food was very good, the only thing I'd pass on next time is the fish taco. The flavor was great, it was cooked perfectly but by the time I got to it...the 3rd taco, it sogged out a bit. Or next time I'll just have to eat it first.

The food is delicious! The spicy sober shrimp taco is so delicious, I want it all the time. The service is a bit slow and could definitely use some work, but I know the restaurant is newer so I'm sure they are still working out some kinks. Ambiance is okay. Food is a five for sure and service is a three for now

Good service, clean restaurant, chill bar atmosphere. Tacos were delicious. I loved the variety and freshness. Wish I had one of these places where I live!

Great service with a friendly attitude. We have come here twice within a month. Servers are always super accommodating and friendly. Not to mention the margaritas are amazing. I would say the tacos are okay. It depends on which one you get. We came here during canal days with our 8 month old son in a stroller and they were able to find us a spot with him. That alone and the margaritas will keep me coming back to this location.

    Rootstock Pork Tacos

I tried Rustic Taco Bar at the Roc Holiday Village and got the Rootstock Pork Tacos, which also came with salsa and chips. I loved the salsa, it was fresh and had a hint of heat. The tacos themselves were just okay. The portion size was huge, I was full after just one, so you could definitely split an order (comes with two) with someone. The pork is cooked in Rootstock Original Cider but I unfortunately couldn't really taste any notes of that. The pork itself didn't taste like it had much flavoring at all. The chipotle crema was the majority flavor, which was delicious, but I was hoping for more flavor from the meat, too. They have a lot of creative combos on their menu and I would definitely return to try more.

Great place to eat. Love the atmosphere. The staff was friendly. The food was not typical Mexican cuisine. They have a very compelling menu, and the Tuesday specials are awesome.

This is a really cool unique place. They're sort of Mexican and that they have tacos but that's where the Mexican part ends. Their tacos are very unique. Ingredients mixed together, they come open faced so you can see everything. Bring your appetite for sure. Turns out on Tuesdays they have a musician as well. So bring your selections of old time songs or songs you want to hear someone sing.

Overpriced bougie bs tacos. They may state their tacos are infused with spirits but they are in fact soulless.

The location is great right on the canal, especially in the patio weather months. The service is pretty slow on busy nights, like they're always understaffed or something, but we've never had any issues with the service other than the pace at times. Overall a great place to stop in for some quality tacos and a margarita or Tecate on a sunny day for sure.

While every restaurant has its own style, quality ingredients and careful preparation are what make great Mexican food. Unfortunately, despite its exceptional location on the Erie Canal in the charming village of Fairport, NY, this restaurant fell well short of those expectations. The queso fundido appeared to be made with inexpensive processed cheeses, which resulted in an overly oily dish. The chorizo quesadilla was disappointing as well. The chorizo tasted like a low-quality, filler-heavy product with an artificial heat rather than the rich, well-seasoned flavor you'd expect. The tacos were average but didn't stand out in any way. Service was friendly throughout the evening, but our server wasn't very familiar with the menu and couldn't answer several questions about the dishes. Despite having a reservation, the meal took nearly two hours from start to finish. Our bill came to about $60 for two adults with no alcohol, and based on the overall experience, it didn't represent a good value. The restaurant's greatest asset is unquestionably its location. Sitting along the Erie Canal is a wonderful experience, and Fairport is one of the most charming villages in the Rochester area. I genuinely hope the kitchen elevates the quality of the food to match such an exceptional setting.

We decided on Bickering Twins, because can you go wrong with Mexican food and a margarita? Luckily we had no wait on a Friday evening at about 7pm. I was worried that since not many people were there it was a bad sign, but that was not the case. We were seated at a nice, sort of private high-top table near the door, which made it feel like we had privacy and our own little space. We ordered drinks, and I wimped out and went with a paloma instead of the tamarind maragarita. The paloma was great, but I'm still wondering whether I shouldn't have risked it. Our group of three decided to get chips & salsa (because why wouldn't you), and then we ordered three dishes to share. Our choices were as follows: Peruvian Ceviche, Birria Quesadilla and Chicken Enchiladas. First of all, the fact that they had ceviche and it was good just hands down made my day. It was good - I only wish there had been some corn kernels served with it. The birria quesadillas weren't what we had expected, but they were very flavorful and the juice was tasty. I Really enjoyed the enchiladas for the mix of flavors and textures. There were so many vegetables with our dishes and the sides of rice and beans were more than filling. My only complaint is that the rice was too much of a yellow rice - I prefer a white rice, but that's just personal preference. Even though we kept the menu at the table anticipating that we would want to order more, we ultimately were stuffed and the portions (while they looked small were actually quite filling!). Jose our server was kind and friendly. I would definitely come back as there are a variety of other meals I would try, and they have flights of Mezcal and Tequila that looked tempting. After a long hard day of hiking, this fabulous meal made the day. We returned to our hotel with sore legs, but our bellies full!

We ordered the ceviche as an appetizer which was nice and limey- perhaps too many onions and rather large pieces. We also tried the popstar cocktail which was good- quite strong. For mains we ordered the taco plate with shrimp, chicken tinga, and lengua, plantains and potatoes. I liked the chicken and shrimp tacos the best. The carnitas platter was also very good! I thought that parts of the pork were a tad on the dry side but this is quickly remedied by pairing it with the beans and guac. Now, the star of the show and the reason this review has 4 stars and not 3 is the chipotle chocolate cake. I was expecting the chipotle/pepper flavor to be completely overpowered by the chocolate cake. However, the peppery taste came through! It wasn't spicy per se but it had a very mild kick but was just noticeable enough. The texture of the cake was also great- not your typical flourless chocolate cake, more custardy and creamy almost. Overall, would recommend! Food was solid- I thought the tacos and ceviche were better than the carnitas platter. The cake was the star of the show!

Here, the food is never prepared in an overly curated-for-Instagram-but-empty-inside kind of way, but rather with a focus on simple ingredients prepared with care in a slow-food way that emphasizes their deep, rich flavor. My favorite is the Al pastor taco with pineapple, a combo of guacamole and chipotle salsas, with fried cheese added on top of the diced onions and cilantro. To die for!! And still only $5 each. This afternoon, after eating literally hundreds of their tacos over the last few years, I tried their smash burger. Absolutely outstanding! Might be the best burger in town as well, it's honestly that good. And only $10! A few weeks ago I had a burger from a local restaurant for $20, which seems to be the going rate, and it paled in comparison to their oh!-so-tasty-you-can't-stop-licking-your-fingers burger! And if you ask, they'll customize it for you with a fried egg, or in my case, with lots of extra fried onions. Their torta sandwiches have also garnered a cult following due to their packed ingredients and massive size, still just for $14. If you're lucky, in the warmer months Eduardo might be serving some of his delicious aqua frescas, or even better, some of his incredible lemonade beverages. Sooooo refreshing! The bonus: you get to hang out with these cool and friendly guys Eduardo & Carlos, as well as their friendly staff who work so hard to make your food so delicious. This place is truly an Ithaca treasure! And more good news: they just moved (May 2026) from Press Bay Alley (118 W Green St) to Press Bay Court (114 W Green St), where they now offer plenty of indoor seating, a big improvement over the old place that only had room for a handful of people at a time. Their outdoor seating has grown as well, and the overall ambiance is more festive and fun. Do yourself a favor - go get some of those mouth-watering tacos, and definitely try the smash burger!
