Consistent food. Excellent chicken soup and enchiladas. Has been a great place for takeout

Ordered over phone for pickup two afternoons ago. I repeated my order twice, clearly. Order was acknowledged. I purposely repeated because a couple weeks ago I orderd twice (I wanted burritos for my dinner) and it was for 4 of us. No burritos in packages. I had no dinner. I was not charged for the burrito plate. So, two days ago I tried them again and once more, after being very explicit and asking the order be repeated back to me...opened bags-no burritos. Not charged and not on the receipt. I cannot figure their problem out. I will no longer order from Mesquite Grill. Done. read more

First timer here. We started with the obligatory free chips and salsa. We added some white queso. Cheese was delicious. It always disappears too quickly. For dinner, the waitress came and apologized that she had made a mistake with the order but it was being fixed. Not sure what happened but it definitely slowed things down a bit. She wasn't the most attentive throughout our visit but she wasn't horrible. I had the Burrito Mesquite. It was steak, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. Topped with queso and a sauce. It was mostly mushrooms and onions. Delicious flavor but not much meat. One friend had a chicken quesadilla, which looked delicious and she also said the flavor was great. My other friend had the Baja tacos with tilapia. They looked amazing. It was much more than was expected in terms of portion size. My friend barely ate one and took the rest home Portion size was great all around, and while the food wasn't bad by any means, there was just a bit that was still to be desired. This review is only based on take-out and the taco salad. We have ordered delivery from this establishment twice ((via DoorDash) and the order is always accurate and we absolutely love the chicken taco salad bowl. Another coworker ordered the chicken soup and it was very good, I'm told. read more

A casual Mexican restaurant very similar to Monte Alban in taste, menu offerings, and decor. I found Mesquite Grill on Yelp while searching for takeout near an appointment (and conveniently located near a post office, which was also part of the day's errands). They have an online ordering system through Clover, which I love (who wants to call in an order anymore?) though honestly it gave me trouble and I had to back out and enter my order a few times. I don't think it liked my debit card for some reason. Food was very tasty and ready on time. My entree came with a generous portion of chips and salsa, and I added avocado to top my meal for $3.99. A filling lunch for a reasonable price, and easy to access with a large parking lot. I will definitely stop here again. read more

Last night was my first time here and everything was absolutely amazing! Service was great, the portions were quite generous and prices, very reasonable. I had the Pancho, which was chicken and shrimp with cheese, guacamole, rice and refried beans. My date had the Chiles Pablanos. We both had enough to take some home for the next day. A friend and I ordered food for lunch this week. I love that they have an online ordering platform rather than me having to call. Walked in to pick it up but they do offer curbside if you prefer. The food was basic, nothing to complain about. I loved the queso and refried beans. My friend really liked the salsa and her tamale. I'm sure that we will order from here again. It's lunch time and I forgot to pack my lunch. I was going to give in and get fast food, but for the same price now in days, it's better to get better quality foods. So I called for pick up and ordered Baja shrimp tacos ($16). Literally was a quick call and was ready in 10 min. When I got back to my office food was still warm( weather outside -8°F). The tacos were so tasty, and there was three of them. I'm a 6 foot 4in heavy set guy, and I get full with two out of the three. Shrimp was cooked perfectly , the rice was not mushy, and there was enough cheese and sauce for me, and Im a sauce guy. Overall pleased with the service and food. We went for lunch. Loved the place. Cheerful, beautiful painted tables. To start, Guacamole was freshly prepared and chunky. Very good. Entrees: Vegetarian Combo and a la Carta were our choices. The Veggie Combo B: One cheese enchilada, one bean tostada and rice. A la Carta: Hard Beef Taco( t was supposed to have Lettuce & Cheese), Rice & Black Beans( a bit too salty for my palate). I first tried Mesquite Grill at their original location on Elmgrove and enjoyed it, so I was happy that they opened up a location closer to me in Brighton. I ordered a Changa (chimichanga) to go and picked it up. The location is in a plaza along S Winton with some outside seating. I was greeted at the door and my order was ready when I got there. The food was really good. I know chimichangas aren't the most authentic Mexican food, but sometimes you just need a fried burrito. I loved the cheese and red sauces, and I chose chicken as the filling. It also came with refried beans inside. It was a bit soggy but I think that's more bc I ordered it to go and it obviously had to sit there as I drove home etc. The rice is really good. I ordered an extra side of it because I like it so much. It's really flavorful and has corn, peppers, and peas mixed in. I really enjoyed my food from Mesquite Grill and will be returning regularly for more! read more

Margaritas can be premium so they don't use the mix oops yes they do you have to order the skinny margarita for fresh squeezed juice and it's absolutely worth it. I think it was the best margarita ever. The food was also solid. The garlic shrimp were very flavorful and the chili relleno was seeded and stuffed with tender seasoned chicken. read more

***.3.5 Stars*** One of the better Mexican restaurants in town, in my opinion. After visiting twice, nothing has blown me away but I've found the food to be good overall. I've enjoyed their mole enchiladas and also their fajitas. Their margaritas also pack quite a punch and one might just be enough, especially on an empty stomach. I am a fan of their frozen mango flavor. The service is fast and friendly. The food also comes out super quick. The pricing is fair and the portions are generous. I'm also a fan of their decorations. It seems like they have custom made benches and tables with "Mexican"-themed illustrative drawings. Each piece seems original and it's a nice touch that adds some warmth to the restaurant. read more

Met some friends tonight after work for dinner at 4:30, seated right away, and attentive server took our drink orders. Drinks arrived quickly, we ordered our entree's and munched on delicious chips and salsa while we waited. Food arrived, extremely hot, fresh, delicious & scrumptious. Bill for 3 of us was $58.00 so fair priced. Menu is varied with quite a good selection. This is a nice addition to the area, as there are no Tex Mex places around. I went back and forth between 3 and 4. To start off, apparently this place has 3 owners and 1 of them is the owner of Monte Alban. I love MA! In the back, they have a very small bar. The restaurant is cutely decorated in Mexican decor, of course. It's kind of a long, narrow layout. The bartenders were very nice and eager to serve us and give us their attention. I say bartenders because even though the bar was small, I think maybe servers go back there when they're not busy to tend the bar as well? Not sure, but 3 different people approached us. On Taco Tuesdays, tacos there are $1!!!! And they're not teeny tacos either! They're basic ones... chicken or beef with lettuce and cheese, but who cares?! They're $1 each! Warning...we got a side of queso and it came in a very small bowl and cost $6. I hear their guacamole is the same thing. That's disappointing. I got stuffed poblano peppers for my meal it came with rice and beans. I finished the whole thing. At MA I never finish my meal, so I would say that MG's portions are on the smaller side. So, kind of 2 strikes on those things, but the food was very good. And their chips and salsa are yummy. Will I go back? Yes. Will I splurge on queso? Probably not. Would I rather go to Monte Alban? Solid dining experience. Nice little storefront in a plaza with pleasant decor, cute little bar and, weather permitting, some patio seating. The service is pleasant and efficient but not a particular stand out. The menu has great options and the food is very good... Not the best Mexican I've had but definitely worth return visits. If the food isn't enough to convince you the drinks will likely push you over the edge. This is the perfect example of 4 stars in my mind... Overall fine. We were excited to try a new Mexican restaurant opened in the Brighton area. The chimichanga and burrito supreme were both just fine. But the waitstaff was very friendly, the decor was bright, and the margaritas looked delicious. The best part was definitely dessert, so leave room. Mesquite grill is a perfect example of why I wish there was a 4.5 option in Yelp. The food is absolutely delicious with big servings, but the takeout service is a bit hit or miss with there frequently being a missing item or two. Please note that we have never eaten in the restaurant, so this may be a non-issue there. Also, much like your friend who's late to everything but makes the party when he shows, it's worth the inconvenience. One bite of that enchilada sauce covered deliciousness, and minor issues like missing tortillas are instantly forgiven. read more

I'm delinquent in writing this review -- the hubs and I went for dinner one night in mid-May and we loved it! The decor is FANTASTIC and festive! The margaritas go down EASILY! The complimentary chips and salsa are soooooo nice, and keep a-comin' just when you need more! The hubs had a grilled chicken quesadilla for his dinner, and I ordered a Combo 3 (ground beef burrito, ground beef enchilada and 1 tamale) so we could try a lot of different flavors and items. All of the food was delicious, and the service was truly top-notch! Everyone who stopped by our table was friendly and sincerely cared whether we had everything we needed. Keep an eye out in the ValPak coupons that come via US Mail -- Mesquite Grill has been offering coupons in there, if you need a helpful discount to get you through the doorway (grin!) Weird experience and I know I wont return- Horchata drink was grainy and watery with all the heavy sediment at the bottom- not made with much milk for a smoother taste like im used to- I asked the "server" Angela C what kind of cheese do they have after asking for street tacos plate as i usually get a side since street tacos is generally white onion and cilantro- she seemed limited in English ,looked confused and went to get another server- what the?- the other person then looked confused as well and said "let me ask" then came back and said american - i said american cheese for a taco in a "mexican" restaurant ?? She said yes and then said its shredded white- wth- so i asked what kinda cheese is on the birria tacos and she said its chihuahua - so u do have mexican cheese?? "Yes"- ok i want that as a side - i asked for one birria taco to try it out ( and of course pay fair market price) as ive had sum bland ones here in Rochester and she said no they only come as a set of 3 - i said what if I dont like how it is? She just shrugged- what is wrong with these places -how they are training people??? - the street taco meal comes out with red onion? and im having to ask for my birria tacos which they wrapped to go and didnt put on my table with my food - i ask whats the cheese on the refried beans at the end of the meal- the server is limited in English and rolls her eyes and asks the other server in spanish to confirm its american cheese- "yes it is"- (so we shouldnt ask questions because she doesnt fully understand??) New Mexican place opened near us, so we tried it. We ordered a variety, it was all thoroughly underwhelming. The vegetarian combo was particularly bland, not much more than some tortillas smothered in mozzarella and red sauce. One of them had a thin amount of refried beans inside. My son's burrito was really bad. Big hunks of tomato and mushroom spilling out of the damp (?) tortilla, it literally looked like someone poured vegetable soup into a tortilla. He took one bite and was done, and the kid is *not* a picky eater. Everything else was just kinda OK, but not very flavorful. Including the chips and salsa, just flat and flavorless. The other location (never been myself) seems to have a following, maybe after this place has been open a while we'll try again. That will be tough, though, with Old Pueblo Grill just 10 minutes away. read more
