Our dinner at Maria's last night was terrific as always. Upon being seated, homemade chips and salsa were brought to the table. Best in Rochester ! For starters we had asparagus soup (a special) and Holey Moley -cheese covered chips with a large dollop of guacamole to spread on top. Sooo good. The staff are always super friendly. Must have starter is their quesadilla. I prefer just the cheese, but others in my party get it with chicken. Their salsa is amazingly good. I will typically order the Jesse or Gloria. Allows you to pick a couple items from ala carte. If you get a burrito, recommend you as for the toppings (L, O, Tom) inside and get it sauced (pick a sauce they put over the top enchilada style). I have dined in Mexico while on vacation and the food at Maria's is comparable. Our waitress was very attentive as she came out with a basket of homemade nachos and salsa. Ordered to go, overall good experience. All orders were filled correctly, it was easy to pick up, they even deliver the food to your car so no need to go inside. As for covid procedures, seems to me like they have a pretty solid system. It can be a bit difficult to find if it's your first time. It's in the back of the building. There's a small sign in a window of the front of the building facing the street. GPS recommended. The quality of the food is good. If I'm in the area I would definitely come back but overall it wasn't my favorite compared to all of Rochester. I had the burrito supreme. It looks to me that they use shredded beef instead of ground in most of their items. The beef was tender and nicely seasoned. Their refried beans are medium smooth, with chunks of intact beans present. The salsa is decently spicy, if you're not into spicy I would say its def hotter than your limit. I've been meaning to try this place for a while now, so when my boyfriend and I were in Webster we decided to stop and try it. Since they are takeout only now since the pandemic I placed our order online and we sat in the parking lot and waited for our food. We only ordered two shredded beef tacos, with added cheese, two sides of rice and Maria's chips and salsa. After waiting 30 minutes and not receiving a call back or update on their website of our order status I called and the staff member told us he saw us out there and had an order ready but didn't know it was for us. He was very friendly, I just think their ordering system might be a little off. Two simple beef tacos with not much flavoring, and no added cheese. Only one side of rice, and while the salsa was good the homemade chips were so thick and hard they really weren't edible, without the fear of breaking a tooth. We ordered take out from this place and overall I think it was pretty good. I personally really enjoyed the blanco y negro enchiladas, and thought the beans were some of the most delicious I've really had- not processed to death they were flavorful and chunky. The guacamole was really delicious as well- very homemade tasting and full of flavor. All the meals we ordered were chicken and everything was really jam packed full of it, which I liked because sometimes you get scant amounts and can barely find it. Maria's. I just met a Mexican place named Maria's. And it was the most beautiful mexican food in Rochester (to this date) I ever had. Maria's... The West Side Story for Mexican food is pretty lame. (see what I did there?) So we traveled to Webster, sent by multiple friends and co-workers, to this colorful restaurant in the downstairs level of an old school/church/community building. The minute I walked in and smelled Maria's, I knew it was special. It has the chotkes and the good music and the cactus in the window. It's the kind of sunny Mexican spot that I've been craving since I moved here. Get the fajitas, and a side of sour cream--that is my only complaint about this place (it didn't come on there on its own). The soft, pillowy flour tortillas are the way to go. The chicken is butterflied and golden, and the platter comes with lettuce, tomato, rice and guacamole to fill the tortilla. The chips here leave something to be desired (okay two complaints), but I have since returned three times to get more of Maria's fajitas. The service is great, the tortillas at least taste fresh, and it's just a fun experience. Snap, snap I'm ready for the next stomach rumble. read more

Well I have to preface that I was a big fan when I first discovered this place approximately seven years ago. In the last three years I have come a little less and less to Maria's because the overall experience has gone down each time. My most recent check in\visit, will likely be my last. Why? Well let's start with the fact that this place was very successful early on, and yet no improvements to the place they are located in has been made. This time the "temporary" bathrooms were upstairs. The bar is still approximately 4' x 4', the waiting area even smaller than that. And then to top it off the place was very cold even with the plastic on the windows attempting to keep the heat inside. The restaurant is located in an old-school house, or church, and so I understand that the owners of the building may have certain restrictions. However with the early years of success a move to a larger place and/or more options would certainly be in order. And unfortunately it wasn't just the building itself that has really run its course this time. Our food came out superquick; for those who visited Maria's early on you would know that the wait was worth it because the food was very good. The only thing that came out warm was the kids quesadilla and nochos; both tortillas with cheese on it. And finally the reason that many of us for started coming here, the margaritas, at this point are okay at best. They had a number of special margaritas. I ordered the coconut, which was delicious. After finishing the coconut I had a regular margarita and that was also very good. They offered such flavors as raspberry, honey dew and pomegranate. For the brave souls they even had a jalapeño. We ordered coconut shrimp and chicken nachos as an appetizer. The coconut shrimp was seasoned just right and was cooked to perfection. Nice and crisp on the outside. The nachos were served with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. The chips were exceptionally crispy. I ordered the special soup which was butternut squash. I especially enjoyed this because it was not loaded with sweetness. It was served with a bit of cream on top. It had a hint of spices. It was a hit with me. I ordered a chicken burrito with white sauce, loaded with lettuce, tomato and onion and a side of mole. It was served very hot and had a great deal of flavor. The mole was wonderful with just the right hint of chocolate. What a wonderful meal! read more

My wife and I ventured out to Webster to eat at an Authentic Mexican Restaurant, Maria's has been at the 75 West Main St location since 1980. We had a little wait and for a Friday evening, you're going to have a wait, we waited for about 25 minutes. Then we were seated, we met both Valerie and Iris, they and their Mom are the owners. Very positive and smiling group of people that enjoy what they do. My wife ordered a Mango Margherita and I had a Pina Colada, our appetizers were stuffed pickled jalapeno peppers with chorizo and melted cheese, our taste buds were being teased, and they had a little kick to them, nothing over powering very tasty. I ordered a cup of chicken tortilla soup, WOW! The Soup was Amazing, pieces of avacado, tortilla chips and shredded chicken along with some veggies that are Good for You! I could have that everyday. Our main courses came, my wife ordered the Enchilada Dinner, I ordered the Mexican Flag Enchilada Dinner, oh I have pictures of everything we ordered. Everything was cooked to perfection, I've been to Mexico, there's one thing you always remember when traveling abroad - The Food! I was stationed in San Diego, California I would take weekend excursions with my Shipmates and take the train to Tiajuana and go sight seeing etc, and then it came time to eat. It's taken me a long time to say this, Maria's has brought me back to reminisce about the foods I enjoyed in Tiajuana, La Joya, and Rosarito, Mexico. I haven't had any other so called Mexican Restaurant's bring me back to days of my past. What an Amazing experience, Thank You Iris and Valerie for creating a Wonderful Dinner for us. Our first time eating at Maria's. The service was fantastic, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I ordered two green chili enchiladas which where very good. The rice and beans where flavorful and not bland like some places. My wife ordered shredded beef tacos which where served with corn tortillas and she found them to be delicious. My only complaints are we found the salsa served with the chips to be bland, and the prices. I felt that almost $15 for my enchiladas was a little high. Overall we enjoyed our experience and found it to be better then Monte Albans and will probably be back next time we're in the mood for mexican food. read more

Years ago Maria's was our go-to Mexican joint in Rochester... well that is because there was nowhere else to go besides chain Mexican at that time. In the years since other decent competition has been established and thus we stopped going here despite their fine margaritas (smooth not sour). Their poor service is what kept us away. On Saturday night our group of eight dined here, with a reservation, and were surprised to find it somewhat empty (though it was almost 8pm). It was nice to see reasonably good service that was friendly and fast - a change from our many experiences in the past. The food itself was solid but I think Salena's servings are bigger and a bit less expensive. The margaritas are still good and strong... One big plus over other places in town is that they serve Tres Leches for dessert - very good and moist. Despite the overall positive experience I won't be running out to Webster when there is La Casa and Salenas in the city... read more

They have amazing food, a friendly staff, and great decor - really, you feel like you're in Mexico. I honestly can't say enough good things about Maria's. They even have live music on Fridays. If you enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine coupled with an authentic dinning atmosphere, this is the place for you. I go as often as I can. I will say this, the negative Yelpers are correct that there are sometimes longer than usual wait times but that's only because it's such a popular restaurant. The worst service on 1/13/23 at Maria's. Long day, Friday night, hankering for Mexican food, maybe get a margarita, and we are assigned "Moe" to be our server for the evening. A candidate for anger management classes. Total chip on her shoulder, a real shrew. Yeah, the food was average, small portions & over-priced, but "Moe" really made the night. WORST SERVICE EVER! Rudely took our order, never delivered the margarita and never visited our table, EVER, until again, gruffly dropping off someone else's bill which was 2x's ours. She really was intentionally rude.
