Rustic Ridge Winery was so much fun! It is a friendly, family owned winery in Burlington Flats. There are sometimes food trucks here as well and they get packed on the weekends. We did a tasting of 5 different wines for $7 - the Lazy Days Dry Rose, Untamed Red, End Post Red, Riesling Semi Sweet, and Blueberry. You can pay $10 to keep a souvenir glass! My favorites were the Untamed Red and the Blueberry. The Blueberry went really well with some Sparkle too - almost like a blueberry mimosa. We ended up bringing a bottle of the Untamed Red back with us! read more

Always a stop when we're in the area. Rustic ridge and their sister/brother brewery next door are a favorite of our family's. Their tastings are generous coming from NYC at $6 for 5 tastings and their bottle average around $17ish for high quality wines of many varietals. Their sparkling wine is a favorite, also the traminette and the cab franc. You'll feel like family when you walk in, the owners/hosts are so sweet and kind and take great care of their patrons. Girls' day out winery hopping was cut short when we arrived at the Rustic Ridge winery. Why? Because there was no need to go to any others. Stopped into Rustic Ridge Winery on Wednesday afternoon as we headed back to NYC from the Finger Lakes. A cozy spot with a wine that I absolutely loved in Black Dog. Quality: Rustic Ridge Winery was the final wine stop on our Upstate New York trip, and while it may not have had the same consistency as other wineries we visited, it had my favorite wine of the trip by far. During our Tastings we tried Chardonnay-Barrel Born, Untamed White, Riesling Semi-Dry, Sparkle, Wildcat!, Native Port, Black Dog, Lazy Days Dry Rose, Dragon Eye Red, and Untamed Red. And immediately after we finished the tasting I ordered a full pour of Black Dog, plus grabbed a few bottles of it to-go. This semi-dry red, which they serve chilled is packed with flavor. Complex and just a bit fruity, it is not to be missed. Quantity: The Tasting involves less options, but the pours are significant. Value: $5 for a Tasting of 5 Wines. $11-$20 for Wine Bottles depending on the selection. Ambiance: Rustic Ridge Winery is located in the Upstate New York town of Burlington, not too far from Cooperstown. It is a bit off the beaten trail, but smartly they opened a new brewery next store making it a more enticing journey for visitors on tasting trips. The property is pretty large, but it was hard to get a good sense of it with the piles of snow built up. Once in the parking lot you have the choice to go to the right for wine or left for beer. The wine tasting room is small and cozy, with a long bar along the far wall and displays of wine throughout. Two large dogs make the rounds to say hello to guests then settle into their respective beds. Classic rock music played over the speakers, which was a nice change from the Christmas music that dominated our trip, but based on the Christmas decor I assume it switches back and forth. Crowd: On a cold Wednesday before Christmas, I expected the place to be deserted, we were not even sure if it would even be open. Instead we found the tasting room full of life with multiple groups drinking wine and beer. Service: The owner was behind the bar providing great insight into the different wines as well as wonderful entertainment. It is clear he loves what he does and it makes the experience even better for the guests. Parking: Large parking lot located in front of the two tasting buildings. read more

Not your typical winery as they do not use grapes in any of their wines. Very tasty flavors of blueberry, currant, elderberry, apple, and more. $6 gets you a tasting of 5 and wine glass to go. We chose to sit on the open deck and enjoy a glass while eating our picnic lunch. Beautiful field and trees with relaxing music. Almost in Greene, NY, worth the drive. Very nice woman enjoyed speaking with her and her suggestion to mix two flavors for the glass to drink with lunch. read more

Long Island, went to all of the wineries there, went to Napa, went to the wineries there, and this place is just as good as any of them. my husband and i were traveling and thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. we are wine lovers, and used to visiting wineries, so we're always curious to see how other parts of the country measure up to the wine trails we're used to. of the wineries in the area, Rustic Ridge was definitely our favorite. it's a beautiful, pastoral setting. we happened to be there on a day that was quite hot, but if it were cooler, we definitely would have sat outside and enjoyed the view. the wines were delicious. we found some of the wines in the region to be a little flat or thin, but these were more nuanced and complex. their sparkling wine was phenomenal, as well as the sweet little blonde. my husband is more into reds, and he was very happy with what he tried. what i liked most about this winery was the atmosphere. we felt very welcomed, and there were clearly some regulars/locals who were joking around with the owner and staff. sometimes it can be awkward in that scenario, when you're the outsider, but we felt very included. we had some great conversation about the history of the winery, and it was just a really incredible experience. if you're in the area, this is a must-try winery. read more

What a wonderful stop on the Cooperstown beverage trail. We were greeted on a Sunday around noon by a sweet old hound dog--he came out toward our car, said hello, escorted us to the porch, and immediately laid back down on his bed for a nap in the sun. It turns out the couple we saw sitting on the porch chairs while driving in = the owners. By the time we reached the door, Rick was already back behind the bar. We each did a tasting and he was professional, friendly, informative, and kind. I chose the dry reds for my tasting. Couldn't pick a favorite--they were all great. I also (surprisingly!) really enjoyed Black Dog (I'm not usually into sweeter, but it was so flavorful that it had me at hello). We each used the (clean) bathroom (with super fun decorations) before leaving--Rick even chatted with my partner while I was in there, and then me while he was in there. He didn't have to do that--we had already paid for our tastings and a bottle, he wasn't going to "get" anything else out of us. But he's just a kind man who has a real love for what he's doing. Strongly recommend--there's something for all palates, and it's a great place to hang out. read more

The owner is an absolute doll. He's charming and charismatic, and he went far over the 6 wines we were supposed to try at our tasting, he was just that passionate about letting us try wines. He was very knowledgeable about the wine locales and when the recipes and products come from, so, while you're not getting local wine persay, it's still NY State wine. He seemed a little scattered with the three, later four groups that popped up to taste at his venue but we all left feeling great and appreciated as wine patrons We were able to find a few we all liked (I left with 7 bottles). read more

This winery is a bit misleading as they have a small plot of grapes and wine is fermented and bottled elsewhere in Finger Lakes region of NY. We had a tasting and my friend stated it was one of the best ports she's ever had. I liked the blueberry and Tramattia one. Beware as you turn into property, as I almost hit fence and I was sober. There is a hairpin right turn. A bit out of the way but good wines. read more

What a fantastic spot to spend some time and experience some (a bunch) of excellent wines. They have a variety of tasting options to chose from, all at really reasonable prices. A few of us in our group decided it would be a great idea to try all twenty wines on their list. There were seven of us and Rick, the owner, kept control of a totally chaotic situation (which we caused, sorry Jill [Rick's mom]) like a true pro. The wines they presented ranged from good to excellent and not one was of an inferior quality. After we did our tastings we purchased a few bottles of wine and retired to the picnic area out back and sat around and just enjoyed the wine and the scenery. The wines were so good our group purchased another three cases which they are happy to let you mix and match and luckily give quantity discounts. Jill was cordial enough to take a couple of us who had a ton of questions for a walk around the property and explain a bunch of stuff to us. This is a family run operation and you can see and hear the pride in everything they do. If you are visiting Cooperstown and only have time to do one thing I strongly recommend you spend your time at Rustic Ridge Winery. read more

Great selection of wines, cheap tastings, reasonably priced bottles, and a wonderful atmosphere for a nice day. On Fridays during the summer they have a food truck with brick oven pizzas. The setting is beautiful and the owners are awesome. If you're nearby Cooperstown, its worth the little trip. read more

This was our first stop on our Beverage Trail tour. For $3 you can taste 5 wines or for $6 you can taste 5 wines and keep the glass. There is a wide variety of sweets and drys, reds and whites. This place is incredible. Wine samples are 5 for 3 dollars or 6 dollars if you want to keep the glass. There was only 1 wine of the 5 I tried that I didn't particularly love. All of them however were very good and I wouldn't have a problem polishing off a glass. The lady who worked there was extremely friendly, and was very knowledgeable. She mentioned that there were a few wines that you could mix together for a different delicious flavor (of course I bought those). I never liked wine until I tried Rustic Ridge wine. They have a wide variety of wines and are always doing tastings and special events that are always a ton of fun! The owners and staff are always extremely pleasant and always willing to assist. They are the best place around and in my opinion, the best wine I've ever had! We started and ended our Otsego County vacation at this spot. We stopped in at Rustic Ridge on a whim when we arrived, needing a place to go for about an hour before check-in. We were greeted by Rick's mom (I never did get her name), who was so welcoming and helpful! Awesome greeting to the region. Both the Hubs and I did a tasting, and we ended up purchasing 4 bottles. Favorites were the Untamed Red, Lazy Days Rosè and the Blueberry wine. On the last night of our trip, we stopped in for 3 more bottles to give as Christmas gifts. We didn't get to enjoy the property because we had our dogs with us, but we'll definitely stay a while next time! Best winery on the Coopertown Beverage Trail! read more

One of the greatest little wineries in the Cooperstown area. Owned by a crazy cool guy named Rick. He hosted our fun tasting of five different wines that came with a free Rustic Ridge glass. They also have shirts that say "New York is for wine, Napa is for auto parts". AKA New Yorkers are better than Californians! Haha just kidding. Kind of. What can I say you gotta have pride in your area. Anyway, don't come here if your a pretentious wine drinker because everyone else is there to have a fun, chill, down to earth time with bikers, dogs, and the likes. Try their unique blueberry wine or sweet little blonde. The property is gorgeous with a pretty view especially at sunset and a big old barn. Truly a countryside gem. You might even get lucky and get to play with their dogs. And I don't know about you but dogs plus wine equals my kind of place. If you're getting married in a couple of years you may want to consider this place!! read more
