Day trip to Cooperstown to see Escher collection at the Fenimore. Stopped at this local brewery for a bite to eat and test out their beer. Cute little facility with the friendliest of bartender. Despite the number of people at the bar, she worked with everyone to ensure they were paid attention to and answered questions. I tried the stout, burly Beard, very good, full flavor. They had a good truck, Gabriana's Mobile Express. Pizza slice, quesadillas and loaded waffle fries! All fabulous. We ate all of it. Decent enough brewery but not particularly spectacular. My wife and I stopped by on a whim as we saw a sign pointing out the turn where the brewery is. We went in and tried a flight. Everything was ok, but nothing more. The server was friendly but after serving our flight we didn't really have much interaction. I wouldn't say he ignored us, but the staff (there were 3 people working) weren't particularly engaging. The ambiance is pretty cool with a baseball theme. Makes sense since Cooperstown is home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. They have one back room that has a wall that is painted to look like a scoreboard and outfield wall and another wall painted to look like a bench of a baseball field. There was a food truck on site the day we went (looked like a pizza food truck) but we had just eaten so we didn't get any food. I don't think they have their own kitchen. Another thing that's an oddity is that 2 out of the 4 beers I tried weren't in the Untappd app. Seems like they were slightly disorganized in that way. We also noticed that online it says they're only open Friday - Sunday; but when we went in they were advertising being open 7 days a week. We stopped in for a beer while in the area. It was a rainy day so we could not sit outside. This place is a little off the beaten path, but once you get there- there is plenty of parking and a few outdoor seats. WHen we went in, the small customer area was pretty small. There are only a few seats and there is a table in a large room. When we got there, all the places were taken so we stood at one of the cash register areas. The girl working the place was super friendly and very nice . Plus she knew her beers. She was able to give good information on all beers. We had a flight of the beers so we could try them all. Stopped in on a Friday evening and there were a good amount of people but it wasn't packed. We were able to score seats at the bar- otherwise, there is a back room with additional seating but I don't know how much as I didn't go back there. They had a good variety of beers, and actually really great prices too- I think a flight was about $6. The only major downside was that you don't get to choose your flight, it's predetermined. But if you know you won't like one, you can get two of another kind. The size of the flights are great too. They gave us 3/4 of a pint per beer on the flight! Six beers per flight- so we tried the Special Ale, Backyard IPA, American Amber Ale, Pale Ale, and Golden Ale- we opted out of the Porter in the dead of summer, and after trying all of the beers we decided that we really liked the amber, so we got a second sample of that. They do have plenty of other beers to offer though, and I sampled a New England IPA that was great. I wanted to pick up that or the West Coast IPA in six packs to-go, but I knew they'd just sit out in the hot car the whole following day. Service was really great and friendly. She opened on a day she had off to host my sons 13th birthday after we traveled with his baseball team to play in all star village from Arizona, Tabitha was gracious, hospitable and fun During the 3 hours we were there. Though Yelp says they are closed on Mondays, that's incorrect. After knocking out the arguably more well known brewery of the area this past Sunday, my buddies and I headed to this town-named brewery that's been around for longer than you might've expected. The result? A quality brew house with a lot to offer. If you like baseball and you like beer then Cooperstown Brewing Company is the place for you. This standalone building off the beaten path offers up several baseball-named brews. Not too large on the inside for the initial tap room with only a couple stools at the bar and the gift shop. Head to the right and there's a door that leads to the brewery as well as a bundle of picnic tables and board games. At the time we were there, the place was rather empty so this room wasn't really utilized by us but could be the spot for a beery good time. Back in the tasting room was where we hung out and sipped some suds. The bartender was friendly and we chatted a little about the area, beer, and sports. After stuffing ourselves with tastings from our first stop, we decided to share a couple flights between the three of us. Prices are super cheap as you can get a flight of four for $5 or all seven available for $7. We ensured that we got to try all they had to offer by going for a four and a seven. Of the seven, a few really weren't too memorable (Nine Man, Old Slugger Pale Ale), while others had a lasting taste on the palate (Benchwarmer Porter, Pride of Milford, Bambino Amber). I didn't end up buying any beer to go, but they bottle basically all their choices. The gift shop had a nice selection of goodies, but a sticker, coaster, and a few bottle caps was all I needed. Overall, Cooperstown Brewery is a spot to check out when visiting the town area. They have some decent brews and a nice, casual set up that would bring me back if I find myself in this cozy location again. Batter up! read more

We are up in Cooperstown for my son's baseball tournament and heard from word of mouth about this place. The beer was great and the pizza even better! I've eaten some of the best pizza this country has to offer and this could quite possibly be the BEST! The pizza truck is a start up by two really nice guys. I will say we have absolutely no connection to them or this business. We got a pepperoni, a pickle and a pepperoni, sausage & mushroom stuffed pizzas and the garlic knots. We ate pizza, drank some great craft brews and played some cornhole. We had six pieces of pizza, garlic knots, a soda, two waters, three beers and a beer flight and it was only $50!! If you are ever in Cooperstown, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. We will be back!! read more

Finally stopped in here a few days ago after waiting for them to re-open after the winter. The brewery is now under new management and they've gone back to the original recipes of their beer from the 90s. They've also changds the logo and labels of the beer and are in the process of building a new brewery in Oneonta (this address will stay open as a tasting room). Unfortunately, their porter wasn't available, but I got to try the Old Slugger, Nine Men Ale, and Back Yard IPA as well as a Davidson Bros Scotch ale. Their beers are quite good and better than I remember (which harkens back to the recipe change). The staff were very friendly and the tasting was only $3, which is great. I didn't do the tour as I didn't have time and have been on plenty of brewery tours). This is a small, but nice brewery and they're definitely changing things for the better. I would recommend stopping in and trying their brews! read more

Wait, I see a pic posted of 'an extension to the tasting room.' Where the hell was that?! I was just here less than a month ago and I was forced sardine style to stand around the bar with 35+ dudes (a bus full o bros came in) and we all waited while ONE person served the tastings, switched out the taps and manned the register. Did the other employees all come down with norovirus or wtf happened?? I don't find these brews to be very unique or palate appetizing. I tend to like lighter beers yes, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate complex flavors too. Overall on the beverage trail, i usually vote to skip this stop but then we won't get our free glass so ugh, must we go. The people running the place are super friendly. Place is very clean. Lots of great choices for beer. We ordered flights and tried them all. Cute little gift shop. They don't brew there anymore but they are sisters to a brewery in queensbury, ny so happy to support. I have to say that the place on the outside is totally uninviting. First thing they don't brew beer here due to not being economically feasible. Its brewed offsite. The tasting pricing was weird $5 to taste 4 beers but had to be these 4 or $7 to try all 7. I chose the $7 option. My favorite was the Old Slugger Pale Ale. They had cute baseball theme teeshirts. I tried the 2016 Induction and liked it. The dark one that tasted like coffee I did not like. This place is great! Is was a random find and I'm so glad I did! They have signage on Main street which made it so easy to find. So for Covid vise they are IMMACULATE! The whole place is so clean and can see how hard they are working on it. Now the beer! I got the Bambino Red Ale which was the best red ale I have had in such a long time and the squeeze play DIPA. This brewery was my favorite in Cooperstown. When you walk in it feels like a brewery back home in the Carolinas. The two girls working the bar are extremely nice and friendly. This brewery is unique in that their flights are $6 and come with all of their signature beers for you to taste. You can add on the 3 or 4 others for $3. For $9 you can literally taste every beer on tap. What a deal! I liked them all, but Old Slugger was my fav. Babe Ruth was great as well. Continuing our journey on the beverage trail we stopped at the namesake brewery of Cooperstown. We pulled up and it was kind of quiet. We went inside to order some beer and the bartender was very nice and attentive. Everyone in our group ordered flights but I opted for their summer ale which was decent. I had a little sip of the beers in my boyfriends flight. The beers were ok nothing special. We heard there was cornhole in the other room so we headed in there after we ordered our beer. It was a tiny room with 2 sets of cornhole cramped together with some picnic tables thrown in too. There were big tanks in the room that were meant for brewing, but I got the idea that they wouldn't brew beer in a place where people are throwing bean bags around so they must brew offsite. Overall this place is just meh. Compared to other breweries, there's just nothing really appealing about it. The beer is underwhelming and the building itself seems a little run down. For better beer I would suggest going to Council Rock or Ommegang. read more

This is a fun little excursion. (Emphasis on the little.) We went on a cold, sort of dreary day -- you enter and - boom - you're in the tasting room/shop/register station. They give tours on the hour, and we were a little early, so we decided to buy the tour tickets and start the tasting flights before the tour. The staff (I think they said there are four *total*) are very chill and relaxed and hospitable. The tour is sort of short but can be as extensive as you want it to be. It was really very cool to be so close to the line/tanks/brewery system. It all happens in a matter of three fairly small rooms. The bottling system used to be Sam Adams' system, but it was too old for them, I guess. Tasting pours are very generous. And you can buy mixed packs and cases and cool pint glasses and kitschy T-shirts. (They do take MC & V.) They grow their hops in the front yard. And there are two awesome store/brewery cats: Barley and Hops. They rule. read more

A couple years back my buddy and I went on a little road trip to Cooperstown. It was a great way to kill some free time before college began again. While camping out we obviously had to have a couple cold beers right? So while shopping we happen to find a sampler pack of Cooperstown Brewing Company and tested it out. Lo and behold, it was pretty darn good. My favs were "Old Slugger" is a sold pale ale, "Nine Man" is a golden ale, and the "Back Yard", an IPA. Come to find out that this place was only 10 miles (or so) south of Cooperstown and offers tours. So we decided to go check it out. It was on a small dirt road and I thought it was the wrong place at first. But inside it was quaint. I even bought a great t-shirt (which I still wear) of a beer I had not tried called "Benchwarmer", a Porter. It has a great line on the back that says "Don't be afraid of the dark." Another one had the beer line up and several baseballs that proclaimed "Beer with balls." HA, brilliant! So in my ultimate wisdom I decided to ask a question. Mind you I was not completely back into the world of baseball after falling out of favor with sports in general during middle and high school. So I ask the proprietor "Hey, who is his Abner Doubleday guy on your Nine Man Ale label?" The look of shock and horror that fell over his face as well as my buddies was absolutely priceless in retrospect. Somehow he was able to compose himself to reply that Doubleday had in fact INVENTED baseball. Ooops! I was exceptionally embarrassed and made a quick exit. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed CBC and would recommend checking it out if you are ever in the Cooperstown area. read more

This brewery is a little less touristy than I expected, and that was refreshing. We missed the tour, so we just did the tasting. The samples they gave were HUGE. That was fun :-) Poor old dog they have there was laying on the floor and had flies all over him. He has a beer dedicated just to him with his picture on the label (from his younger more healthy days I'm guessing). The beers were okay, but I didn't feel compelled to buy any of them. She gave us background info on Cooperstown and she was great. The best CIDER BEER I've ever had Awestruck Hibiscus Ginger. They said they allow kids and since they do not serve food they allow you to bring your own food here. We plan on taking our son here after he checks out Cooperstown as they have a lifesize Connect Four board and cornhole here as well. Great hidden establishment. read more

I loved the baseball theme within their beer names, although I imagine it gets old for the locals. This small brewery is one of the best stops that one could make while in Cooperstown. The family-run brewing and bottling warehouse makes some of the best hand-crafted ales to be found anywhere. The most surprising revelation was the homegrown hops, used to flavor and preserve their India Pale Ale. They hired brewmasters to develop the terrific formulations. Trial-and-error in the brew biz is apparently not smart, and verrrrry expensive! The two types of hops are grown "Out Back", which is especially unique, as we know that two other local brewers (larger) exposed on their tours that they import their hops at great expense. The owner, Stan, was very forthcoming about the family business, the brewing process, the ingredients, and the trials of running a small business. He is very knowledgeable about all of these, and you should respectfully pay close attention to his informally-presented tasting, which included generous pours and much discussion around each of the beers. read more

Stopped here along the Cooperstown Beverage Trail and really enjoyed the beers they offer. My girlfriend and I were given a tour and tasting by a woman (whose name escapes me) who works there who was very knowledgeable about the brewing process. I don't usually seek out British style beers but Cooperstown brews some delicious ales. I particularly enjoyed their Old Slugger Pale Ale. Just to note, besides tasting, tour, and the opportunity to buy some merchandise there isn't really a lot to do at the brewery. No food options or anything but as I've already remarked, quality brews and really nice people working there. read more
