I moved to Buffalo last year and Russo's was recommended to me by my landlord. Having a mechanic you can trust is really underrated. I've brought my wife's vehicle ('10 Altima) and my vehicle ('09 RAV4) for service. They do our 5K maintenance, and have helped us solve some big problems all at a very reasonable cost. My wife's car had a cracked coil (thank you, Buffalo potholes) and Jeff took the time to explain our options. My car has had a few more things. A mouse chewed through some wiring to my transmission (fun!) and I've had other brake-related issues from my car sitting a lot, Buffalo climate and road salt. I'll start this by saying I am not very car savvy, and other places I've gone to get work done have taken advantage of the fact that I am a girl in my late twenties. I went to Russo's because it was literally next door to my work. Dropped my car off for an inspection. Knew that I most likely had to have a wheel bearing replaced. They called and confirmed-yes wheel bearing needs to be replaced. I always get a little nervous when that happens because a $500 job can quickly turn into a $2,000 especially with a car that is 10 years old. Jack at Russo's was awesome. He walked me through everything, had pictures to show me of what had to be replaced, and even gave me advice about my 2007 Toyota. Their customer service and communication was impeccable and left my mind at ease. I will definitely be returning for all of my car maintenance. PS I FORGOT THE BEST PART-THE CAR WASH! Why? 1) They told me what was wrong with the car and offered recommendations, 2) Pricing was fair and clearly stated before work was done, 3) Communication was exception; with a regular status call, 4) repairs were top notch, 5) they even cleaned the car when I picked it up. This was an easy, pleasant experience from beginning to end. As for value, they repaired the car for 25% of what I was quoted at Northtown and their diagnostics turned up the need for brakes where as Northtown never even looked at the brakes. What amazing service!!! I've had to bring my vehicle in a few times and every time they made me feel very comfortable. They very clearly explained everything. I had brought my vehicle into another local shop because my car wasn't starting. The other guys found nothing wrong and sent me on my way. I've going to this location for a number of years and there are a couple of reasons that I am very pleased with this auto repair shop. I knew that I had a good repair shop when I took my car back to a family friend (who owns a auto repair shop) in my hometown and he was impressed with the work and price. There have been a number of times (most recently this week), where I needed something repaired quickly and they were able to help out. With my new job,it can be difficult to get downtown from the Northtowns and leave the car all day but I'm still bringing my Camry back each time and not finding somewhere new. Heading out of town this week on a 1,200 mile trip. Took my 2013 Ford Escape in for an evaluation, and was referred to Russo's by a friend. It was the best recommendation I could have received. These guys are on it. When I called they said I could bring it in the next day, which I did. Their customer service and follow up...outstanding. They did a complete evaluation of the car and came back with minor things (filter changes) that we done really fast. The rates are so reasonable. I will definitely be going back for any further service on my car. They are conveniently located downtown, and I saw a courtesy shuttle car on site so they must pick up and drop off to your home or office. I only work a couple blocks away so I didn't use the shuttle, but nice to know it's there. Russo's is an upstanding customer focused operation. Without a question I would recommend. read more

For the past two years my husband and I have taken our cars to Russo's for service. We have had a normal wear and tear done and major issues repaired. We have ALWAYS been happy with the service we received from them...until recently... my husband dropped his car off for an inspection and the report came back his car had a cracked spring. We were quoted a price for the spring. Because we were days from our wedding - my husband decided to hold off on a major repair and we were going to check around for pricing. I was telling a friend of mine about the spring and he offered to check the car out for us so we knew how much we were looking at - he brought the car into his automotive shop checked all for springs - there was no crack. He had another mechanic look at it just to be sure - no crack. We took the car to get a third opinion and was again told no crack! Which makes me wonder - how many jobs did we pay for that were not needed by Russo's? I am very sad because the reviews and the recommendations have generally been good. We never thought they were that type of mechanics. With that said - I wonder this - was it just a mechanic who gets paid by the job and is dishonest or is it the entire culture. read more

These guys are great. I've been going to them regularly for a few years and they've always done excellent work on time and as promised. They're up-front with the estimates and, if something unexpected comes up, they always call to check before doing the work. I have four different vehicles and they keep track of the due dates for oil changes, inspections, etc. and give me a call when these items are due. Russos has been by far the BEST auto shop I've ever worked with. They are so honest, and caring about your situation, and take the best care of your vehicle. I've had problems with my jeep for a few years, and they keep a well run list of what needs repairing, but they're very straight with me as to what CAN wait and what will likely strand me if I don't take care of it. They are incredibly responsive and polite and always have my car fixed within the say with free shuttle service to my office and back. They also seem to wash my car every time it's in - (who needs Delta Sonic right?) As a single female - it's easy to be taken advantage of with Mechanics who assume you know nothing about cars, and Russo's has never made me feel that way. They always educate me on what the problem is, and show me diagrams, etc. Again, they will be honest if the repair can wait, or if it's truly serious, and on top if it, tell you how much each repair costs so you can budget accordingly. I'm very Type A so this has taken so much stress out of car maintenance for me. I love this place! HIGHLY reccommend them to anyone. read more

I would love to rate them nothing for how they treated me. I, knowing not much about cars feel as though I'm pretty easy to rip off, which is why I try to educate myself. I needed something fairly common replaced in order for my car to be safely driveable. I took it in the night before and called in the morning to discuss- Jack gave me an estimate, which seemed excessively high, so after looking into it a little further, I call back (2 hours later- and nothing had been done) and simply asked them to break down the price, he did and I asked if they would hold off for a moment. The part in any corporately owned shop costs $25.99, they informed me that they charge $63, and that they make money off the parts, well okay- but making money and ripping someone off are two very different things. The labor would have been $103 each hour, and they would need to work on it for three hours, which I'm guessing is a stretch. Additionally they wanted to charge me $50-75 to de-greasing my engine (de-greaser costs like maybe $10)! So the grand total to replace a $26 part equaled out to be over $500. He called back and informed me that he would not feel comfortable doing the work and to pick up my car- all of the work they had already done was free of charge (they merely cleaned the inside of my car- thanks by the way, looks great) and "De-greased" the engine, which did not look any different other than one part was wiped down. Leaving it in the parking lot of downtown buffalo with the keys under the visor (which I okay-ed because I couldn't bare to walk in there and see these smug mechanics hand me the keys to my undriveable car). I went somewhere else, and it costed me $210 total. If you decide to use this place, as I'm sure they do decent work, be weary and look up what they are quoting you. I understand this is a business but lets be real not everyone is okay with being overcharged. read more

I had an excellent experience with Russo's last week as an out-of-towner who needed a repair in the midst of a mini road trip. After making the 7-plus hour trek from Boston a few days earlier -- and as my group was about to continue on to Toronto for a few days in another person's vehicle -- I needed a professional to examine a moderately loud rattling in the undercarriage before making the return trip to Boston at the end of the week. I dropped my car off literally within three hours of my group leaving for Toronto (early in the morning), and expected to have to leave my vehicle at the shop for a few days until our return. However, the staff was extremely helpful and volunteered (as in, I didn't have to ask) to look at my vehicle before the other customers due to my traveling situation. It was a quick but important fix (heat shield thing was loose and rattling) and it was done within a half hour. I drove back to Boston worry free. The repair was not expensive. I am very appreciative of the friendly and helpful attitude of the staff and I would recommend anyone patronizing Russo's Auto Service. read more

I'm surprised to even see one bad review! I took my Jeep to Russo's yesterday... first time I'm using them. Obviously fixing the problems efficiently would render my car in excellent driving condition - but these guys cleaned out the interior, vacuumed, and washed my car! I'm old, but I have never in my life experienced that kind of service! The extra mile! Who does that kind of thing! I can only hope that they never try to rip me off for costs, or anything else. I have been taking my cars to Russo's for 21 years and have always been satisfied with the people there and their work. Recently I took my Saturn in for a muffler noise. They got me in right away without an appointment. They fixed my noise and got me back on the road in about an hour. Not only is my car super quiet but they cleaned it inside and out so it's also super clean. The guys at Russo's always treat me with respect and never talk down to me because I am a woman.
