Russ' Place is a whole in the wall little bar with a restaurant. If you pass on it for this reason, you are not as smart as you look. The staff is friendly and outgoing. The restaurant itself is clean and has a very local feel. All that is fine and good but what you will come here for is the food. Good God! The food is incredible. We had poppers. They were hands down the best poppers I have ever had. They are not hot but more sweet and filled with the most amazing cheesiness. My husband got the bison cheeseburger with a patty of fried Mac, cheese, and bacon. He didn't say a word while eating it. He loved every bite. I got the Jiffy burger. It was a bacon cheeseburger with a scoop of peanut butter on top. Yes, I said peanut butter. I was really skeptical about it but wanted to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. It was fantastic. Such an odd combination but it worked very well. Also, the buns are homemade on sight and it shows! The buns were delicious. I got onion rings but they were a little well done and for $3 extra they only give you about 4 rings. My husband got fries and loved them. He ate every one of the fries on his plate!! We came here on a recommendation for the cheesecake and ended up loving this place. We were in the area for the week and dining options are limited. Russ's is an out of the way quaint little bar/grill with an interesting menu and the make several items from scratch. We tried the Ruben, but will be back to try the chili and one of the burgers. My husband and I love this place. Far better than the "Irish" pub in the next building. The food is always delicious and consistent. You have to try the wings! They are our favorite. Full wings that come cooked perfectly crispy with homemade sauces for dipping. I also really love that I can get a pitcher of Eddyline's Crank Yanker IPA. We first found Russ' thanks to the not-too-friendly and non-apologetic "No" we got from another (very close) restaurant when asked if could bring a dog into their enclosed patio area. A short walk up the hill and we were warmly welcomed onto Russ' patio and a bowl of water was brought out for the dog. Sometimes it's the little things that make a big impression! (We also love their shirts that say "Russ'... Where you go when they kick you out of [name of restaurant down the hill]" ) It's been hit or miss on whether our order will be correct here every time, but the food is always good, no matter what comes out, the drinks always cold and the wait staff always friendly. Even though we're not full-time locals, we don't feel like outsiders coming here. read more

HOLY BANANAS! This place is killin the game! I love everything that I have ever had there but my fav is the the pulled pork with fries and a good beer. They have a zillion choices but not so many that it is overwhelming. They have great beer, they are family friendly and there is a bar in the front if you just want a frosty cold one. We have lived here in divide co for almost a year and these people hate tourist supposedly. Just because we are not in there everyday we should not be treated like shit. My wife just went to pick up our food for delivery and the bartender female is rude saying she's a tourist? The first time we went there one of the locals tried to fight someone playing Jenga outside. Also cold food when it arrived, and being rude has made us not want to eat here ever again. We love this little hideaway kinda place. They really need a bigger sign to get their word out!! Food is awesome, staff is helpful, friendly and seem to be attentive and pretty quick. There is a wait sometimes, just sometimes, so expect it and you wont have any complaints :) Super big,.fresh, juicy burgers. I always have a salad with mine but fam loves their fries!! Nice atmosphere. The only thing I would recommend to change is a no smoking policy...or at least not right by the open front door! But I am not sure if that was a customer or an employee. This is a very small town, but you will find they have good choices in places to eat. This is a nice small local bar with good food. The views from the outside seating of the Peaks' is outstanding. Wow! If you are within 250 miles of this place, it is a must go! The burgers are the best I have ever had. The buns are baked fresh daily! My husband had the bacon-avocado burger and I bet there was more than half an avocado on the burger. My bacon cheeseburger was cooked to a perfect medium- so juicy. The burgers are very reasonably priced and include steak fries, coleslaw, a bag of chips or a side salad. We opted to split an order of onion rings (5.99) and we could not finish them even though they were outstanding! In addition to beef burgers, you can get bison, chicken breast or black bean. This place is continuously improving in atmosphere and food and has become my favorite place for a beer and snack in the area. I live just down the road. The wings are full size, grilled outside and very delicious. The cheese fries with green chili are awesome! They also have red chili. Most the food is cooked outside and they take pride in making tasty food. The service can be slow when they are busy but they are always friendly and make you feel like you are a regular. I'd review this place as a zero if possible. Ordered French Dip, tasted and smelled bad. They offered a replacement and served a raw cheeseburger. When I spoke to the owner he blamed me for not specifying how I wanted it cooked. He didn't care that I wasn't asked, when I ordered. OK, so this is one of those places that you would never expect to be as good as it is based on the looks. My family and I were staying in Woodland Park on vacation and the road to our rental house actually got washed out in a late afternoon thunderstorm, so we were looking for a place to eat and kill some time while waiting for the road to re-open. We headed north up 24 and just started Yelping and stumbled on this place and boy are we glad we did. Started with an order of onion rings, we had wanted fried pickles, but they were out. This was probably the single problem with our visit and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. The onion rings were really really good though, so maybe it worked out for the best anyway. The beer selection was not great, but was adequate, and they had a pale ale that I liked. For entrees, I had the brat, my wife had the BBQ pastrami burger, two of my kids had chicken tenders and one had mac & cheese. All our entrees were excellent. The mac & cheese may have just been from a box, but my daughter still enjoyed it. The service there was what really set this place apart. I wish I could remember our waitresses name, she was so personable, it just really made the experience great. She talked us into having Kahlua cookies for dessert, which we really didn't need, but they were soooooo good, no regrets at all. Bottom line, if you happen to get stuck in a storm in Divide and need a GREAT place to eat, this is the place. Or even if you just happen to be in the neighborhood. read more

We stumbled across Russ' place because our 1 ton truck didn't fit in the parking lot of another restaurant. We're darn happy about that. The service was great. Thank you Gwendolyn. I had one of the top 10 hamburgers I've ever had. It's called a Jiffy Burger. It has crunchy peanut butter on it. You have to taste it to believe it. My wife had the mushroom swiss burger and it was great too. She was doubtful, to say the least, about the Jiffy Burger. After she took a bite she kept saying wow and then, "Can I have another bite, this time with a pickle slice?" If that isn't good enough, Russ makes the buns fresh every morning. Russ came by the table and we had a nice visit. Russ' makes a visit to Mueller State Park that much more appealing. And, there's plenty of room for my F350! read more

We arrived to an inebriated man berating his family while another patron attempted to intervene. After 20 mins or so the manager told the family that they had to leave. This was out of the staff's control and was handled appropriately once the situation seemed like it was about to get out of hand. Overall, our experience was lousy. Our food took 45 minutes to arrive to our table despite the restaurant being half empty and us asking where our food was on multiple occasions. When the food arrived, we were immediately disappointed. Our burgers we over-cooked and dry. The chicken tenders were over-cooked as well and we receive two less tenders than the menu said were included. The fries were over-cooked and cold. The dismal state of the food should not have been a surprise since the kitchen staff that passed through the dinning area appeared to be uninterested and lacking basic hygiene. We watched the cooks open doors and handle other unclean objects with their protective gloves on and then without changing their gloves go right back to handling food. In summary, the food was awful and overpriced and I consider our party lucky that no one caught a food-borne illness. I will never eat here again and highly recommend others to avoid this restaurant. read more

We read some of the other glowing reviews of this place, so we decided to try it because we wanted to get some good bison burgers. The staff was really friendly, but the experience was terrible. It took 40+ minutes for our food to arrive. About 30 minutes into the wait, the owner jokingly asked "hey are you guys hungry?" I was not amused since it took another 10 min to get our meal. I could forgive service issues for excellent food, but again, we were disappointed. They were out of bison. So we ordered 5 beef burgers and one chicken tender meal. All but one of the burgers was over-cooked to the point of having zero moisture in them. My buffalo blue burger probably would have been tasty had it not been over-cooked. The fries were also dry and over-done. My son got the chicken tender meal and not only were those over-cooked as well, he only received 2 tenders when the menu indicated it came with 4. $12.79 for these burgers?!? We could have gone with frozen White Castle burgers out of the freezer case at Walmart and had a better product. We had family from out of town with us during this visit, so this meal wasn't exactly a shining example of local Colorado cuisine. We should have gone to McGinty's. read more

We just moved to Divide a few weeks ago and had heard that Russ's Place had great burgers so we decided to check it out. I guess we will never know if they have good food or not since we never got to eat! We walked in with several other groups, about 5 tables, at the same time. There was only one waitress. She was nice and had told us it would be a while before we ate. We said ok NP. We sat for over an hour talking and laughing, and commenting on the x-rated image hanging next to the kitchen (don't sit your kids here.) We noticed that food was being delivered to another table of 7 or 8 people that came in and sat about 30 minutes after we arrived. They received their food before we did!!! Well ok... When 2 of our baskets finally arrived, the fries were ice cold. One of the burgers was ice cold and the other one felt lukewarm at best. We asked the waitress to replace them she said, I'll replace this one and the fries, but the other one just came off the grill. Hm ok my son tried a small piece and it was barely warm...so maybe we could have cut into it and checked, but we didn't think about as everything else was ice cold, why would we think this one wasn't. After about 10 minutes, the co-owner Bob came over and said "this is hot! I just watched it come off the grill" as he crushed the burger and strangled the meat with his fingers. At this point our other 3 orders still had not come out. He said "I'll give you your money back and we'll call it even"... I was so upset I almost cried...after waiting over an hour we left never to return. WELP welcome to the neighborhood! We went to a place just down the hill and they were awesome and friendly. We stopped for late lunch on our way to Howard, Co. I found it on Yelp, good rating. There weren't many people in the restaurant so we didn't know what to expect. I ordered the (mild) chili and a side salad, my husband got the Chicken Philly sandwich & fries. The food here is AWESOME. My salad was large & jam packed with super fresh ingredients and the chili was delicious. The Chicken Philly was seriously one of the best sandwhiches we've tasted in a long while like, melt in your mouth deliciousness. My husband saved 1/2 of his sandwhich for leftovers and we fought over them the next day. There's something special going on in that kitchen. Genuinely like this place... it feels like you're at your uncle's restaurant. Been a few times and every time I've enjoyed my burger. So far my fave has been the pastrami burger.
