Choose your own place to sit, and the server will be along soon. Courtney was ours, and she is as friendly and efficient as can be, and she's very easy on the eyes. She pops a few "sweeties" and "honeys," in and genuine at that. The pricing is right on, even tho they have added a 3.1% "inflation fee."?? They have breakfast or lunch, and plenty of it. Cooked to perfection, and delicious. They always have a collection of homemade pies, with ala mode ice cream, if that's your jam. The customers are dressed casually, look like working folks, a few retired folks and cowboys and you'll see some "bib-alls'" that I wore working on a ranch in my young life. I just got back from deployment and needed to move property from the storage to my new place so I needed some coffee to get me going. As I was leaving I seen this place and I'm from TN so it reminded me of the "Mom&Pops" spots back home. I'm really happy I stopped in. The food was good but it took forever and was over priced. We sat at the counter and watched as obvious regulars arrived after us, ate and left before we even had our food. We were there for almost 50 minutes before we had our order. The Ruben was fantastic! Very nice employees, cute little diner atmosphere, awful food. I felt like I should be able to trust reviews, but this was just not good. I ordered my burger medium, it was a well-done, unseasoned little hockey puck. My son's pancakes were drowning in the crisco they were cooked in (there was a puddle of what looked like butter-flavored crisco on the side of his plate and underneath the pancakes) and everyone else's food tasted and looked like tv dinners. I know this is a hot place for older people who just want straight breakfast items. I used to work there. After today's visit, I won't set foot again. The food has turned even more mediocre (if that's even possible) since I worked there. My home potatoes where cold and bland. The green chile was the only thing got on my plate, and I dare to guess it's because the green chile is keeps in the steam table. On top of my food being cold, I had to wait for the server to bring my condiments AFTER my food was served. Service was cold like my plate. Oh well. At least the Waffle House serves their food hot. He had the chicken fried chicken to which was his first time of having and yes his plate was clean and I had the Open-Face Roast Beef (1/2 size) but still had a huge amount.. Then I had the Gourmet Vanilla Ice Cream & my husband is having the Peach Cobbler Alamode and yes I had to taste it so you could know what it tasted like...... this is what I thought, "WOW, that was amazing!!!" Yummy!!!! The customer service here was great...... Sheldon's is exactly what you'd expect from a place in strip mall with a $7.50 chicken fried steak breakfast. It's just right. My friend Bob refuses to go anywhere else for a breakfast get-together so I admit I would not have gone in otherwise. That being said, having had breakfast at Sheldon's a half dozen times or so, I think this place is awesome. Bob (I call him Bobert cuz it's funny) says he eats hear because it cheap, the people are friendly and because there aren't any damn hipsters there. It's true, none at all. I should add, Bobert would never say 'damn' but it'll be good for a laugh next time I see him. To the pretentious, asshat, "foodies" who get down on this place for the Wonder Bread serve or the old, dated look... are you for real?! Look around, get a grip... do life with a little understanding of context. And for the love of Pete, learn to enjoy things for what they are. You don't take a dump on a delicious piece of fried chicken because it's not Ortolan. You will not find the words 'artisanal' or 'hand crafted' or 'vegan' on the Sheldon's menu. There will not be a carafe of ice cold cucumber water while you wait to be seated. If you ask where the eggs come from, the response will very from "the store" to "up you're... you get the idea. I've only had their open face turkey sandwich and their Reuben. Both leave plenty to be desired. It's not bad food, but there are certainly better place to go in town. The open face turkey sandwich (Thursday's only) is one of the things they are known for. The turkey is only average. Very plain tasting. The mashed potatoes and gravy are similarly pretty bland. It's all served over a piece of wonder bread. As you can imagine, the bread turns into a tortilla thickness piece of mush. Serve all of it over a hearty piece of good bread and it might be memorable. As it stands, it's only memorable in how bland it is. read more

At the time of our visit, one staff member was wearing a political T-shirt that made dining there incredibly uncomfortable.
