Killer vibe as always. It has been almost two years since I've been here again, and man have I missed it. The crew was awesome and it's always cool to me to see how hands-on every single person on the staff is. I was super hungry so I ordered the Niçoise salad which was perfect. The vinaigrette they have is flavorful and I would put it on anything. Since I've been on a ramen kick lately I had to have the wabi-sabi ramen which I highly recommend to everyone. Drinks! I got the good luck, outlaw and it was bright, not too sweet, gingery. If you're not used to consuming turmeric this may kick start your digestion so be wary if you're going somewhere with limited restrooms. Good for the gut really means GOOD for the gut. If you've never visited this little spot, don't be afraid to try something you may have not heard of. Shuga's is avant-garde dining, with a menu of all different kind of items that somehow still co-exist without sacrificing flavor, but still shows love to that menu item's traditional style. My family and I have been going to Shuga's since before I can remember and always enjoy it. The coconut shrimp soup is amazing, the salads actually have some substance to them, and I've never had a better cubano sandwich. Truthfully the whole menu is fantastic, and that goes for the drinks as well. Due to Shugas popularity it has become less and less likely to find an available table without making a reservation, but this is what you expect. Recently, my sister and I decided to meet some friends for an early dinner on a Saturday night. It looked like there were some open tables on the patio, and we figured we would go in and see if we could get one. The person who greeted us at the door was extremely unwelcoming and treated us like we had done something wrong by walking in. He asked if we had a reservation and when we started to say no, he directed us to a two top, saying it was the only thing he had available. I told him we had three more joining us so we would head out if that was the only open table. He then got exasperated, saying we told him we had two in our party (we had maybe gotten a few words out before he directed us to the two top) and directed us to a larger open tables. Feeling very uncomfortable, we decided to leave and spend our evening elsewhere. This isn't the first time we have had poor service, and we always want to give the servers the benefit of the doubt. However, it was a very disappointing experience and I don't think we will be inclined to return. read more

While in town with a couple friends for the weekend we stopped at Shuga's for a quick breakfast before our drive back. I was obsessed with the eclectic vibe both inside and on their patio. The weather was beautiful so we took advantage of the outdoor seating. The menu featured some delicious and unique items. I opted for the bruschetta & soup combo. The coconut shrimp soup was my absolutely fave! So so good! The bruschetta were hit or miss for me, I liked the goat cheese with grape but the salmon I wish had more flavor. This is a quirky spot I have lived for years. I love the cafe tray! The photos I have attached are from over the past year or two. The Spicy Brazilian coconut shrimp is amazing! And you can add the twist to get that large bowl of it that looks almost like ramen. Oh now I am craving it again! The bruschetta's are filling- and the nur-cao-boi my friend loved. Drink selection is odd but the lavender lemonade is yummy. Think I will go see them soon! Oh and make reservations if you can - eating areas are inside, outside, and there was a tee-pee I loved. It's not often that I can say every item I order is great but at Shuga's everything really is great. Shuga's Favorite Cafe Tray is an order that could satisfy one's entire meal but is best when shared as a starter or if you are looking for a light meal. The Mediterranean selection with the hummus and tapenade is amazing with the coconut shrimp soup being a must try with its creamy and spiciness. Though I love the almond butter cake the most to add a little dessert to the meal. The Madame of the Pletzl is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The bagel is perfectly salted and has a wonderful crunch the sandwich needs. The egg melts into the sandwich, mixing with everything it needs to. The ham is fried up to crisp it up a bit but the ham seems to be lacking flavor wise compared to everything else in the sandwich. The Cuban Mojo Sandwich also is an amazing sandwich. The pork shoulder is crisped up nicely and works so well with everything else. The winter soup was a tomato soup with some grilled cheese croutons and it is the best tomato soup I've ever had. The tomato soup isn't puréed, there are noticeable definitions in the tomatoes in the soup. The soup isn't too acidic which is the usual issue in tomato soups. The croutons really amplify this dish on to another level and I just wish there were more in my soup. I can't wait to come back here and my biggest issue will to try and order new things. read more

Came here with a few work colleagues and had a great time. Sat outside in the climate controlled tent (there's a name for it) and it made for an intimate atmosphere. This place was so well designed, it was really a pleasant and very welcoming atmosphere. And this place was PACKED!!. We sat at the bar. Watching the bar tender do his thing and making his drinks, how all the staff maneuver around without being in each other's way, was quite intriguing! I ordered the "Rufus stole the chicken, too" and the creamy asparagus soup (seasonal), with a Spanish coffee. The coffee was really really good and the presentation was very nice! The soup and sandwich came out and the soup was heavenly!! The soup was the best soup I've ever had!! I ordered a cup, but I should have ordered a bowl! I inhaled it! I'd never had this type of soup and wow.. just wow!!! The sandwich was also delicious! I seen a couple order a 2-part drink, and found out it was coconut cold brew with coconut cream. This spot was a random choice between my friend and I visiting from out of town, but we were so glad we made that choice. Shuga's was delicious for both food and's drink options (alcoholic and non). I'd gladly come back for these tasty sandwiches and drinks. I got the Montreal Village sandwich, and though I wished the peppered honey was a little stronger, the Brie cheese was melty and salty which balanced the sweetness from the apples, honey, and ham. I don't know a soup and sandwich can be so magical, but Shuga's figured it out! The asparagus soup was probably the best soup I've ever had. I don't know how but it is! I tried to recreate it at home but I couldn't make it as great as this. The sandwich was also really good! Pistachio, garlic, porchetta, mozzarella, basil scallion butter... what's not to love? It was balanced and actually quite filling! Everything came out super fast and our server was very nice. I loved the outdoor seating area--it was so quaint and cutely decorated! What a fun place. The food is fun, the vibes are fun and the employees are fun. Just check out their menu. It has evolved a lot over time, and they are so creative with their dishes. I mean, have you had their shrimp soup?? It's recommended on almost every page. I had a nice laugh about it. It's also delicious. They expanded the way they use their shrimp soup and made it a base for their ramen. It was a great idea and a huge hit with my group. Asking the host for what he recommended helped me zero in on my choice, or in this case, choices. They have a sampler that includes the shrimp soup (get it with twist!), caprese toast, Mediterranean sampler, salmon salad, and the taste like grandma's (not that my grandma did, but SOMEBODY had a grandma that did) sugar cookie, almond cake. Can't believe we have been in the springs for as long as we have and haven't been here. It was a busy day but the staff was super friendly and attentive. The bartender helped me narrow down my drink choice (there are so many great options) and he helped me pick the perfect one! Naked beekeeper was a fresh and different drink! We absolutely love Shuga's! Everything we've tried on the menu has been delicious, and it's one of those places where you really can't go wrong with whatever you order. One of our favorite things to do is order food to go and head into the mountains for dinner with a view. It makes an already great meal even better!
