I wasn't in the best of spirits, but once I got on the skating rink, my mood improved quickly! I love the feeling of skating and they were playing some old school pop, which I enjoyed. On Tuesday nights, it's 2 for $22 to skate, which includes rentals. They have specials all week long so check out their calendar. I'm definitely coming back for Thu adult skate night when I get a free day! I did check out their snack bar as I forgot my water bottle and was thirsty so I got a small soda, which was $3.75 (price is high), but it's free refills. I give this place 4 stars because they really could use a face-lift here, I mean its 2025 and I felt like I was back in the 80s or 90s here. Also, their wrist guards that they require you wear were pretty gross, that could use some improvement. This is a great way to get some exercise in and I had a great time here! I'll be back!

Love coming to Skateland Mesa…read more My wife and I have now been here for our niece's last two birthdays and one other time just to skate. Birthday parties are handled very well here. Our niece is getting more and more comfortable skating all of the time and has nearly graduated from using a helper. No shame in using it though as she knows she needs some assistance. Nowadays she will skate with it but then push it ahead of herself and skate to it. It is great to see kids to adults of all levels having fun out there on the rink. Slower skaters are encouraged to stay inside the oval in the middle of the floor so the more advanced can go around on the outer skating floor. You are reminded of the rules, but nothing is heavy-handed in any way. Good music and fun little games by the staff throughout the night. So glad they have my size - 15s in a skate. They also have rollerblades, but I am not a fan. Have to have four on the floor and spread out to stay upright. If you are in the area and looking for some fun that you may have not had in 30 or 40 years - go skating at Skateland Mesa. Plenty of theme nights for all and even some adults only skating nights. They are also willing to share their time/knowledge about other coaches or classes not just their own. My kids love Coach Marcus and Coach Peyton, great energy/examples for kids. I'm always entertained by these big guys (coaches) working with small/sometimes tiny kids, gentle but still teaching them how to have fun safely. Love that Coach Marcus doesn't let my older child slide, within a group of different sized kids/skills, he still knows exactly what he is capable of, challenges him and will teach him how to do something specific 1 on 1. Both Peyton and Marcus don't seem to mind/are entertained when either of my kids takes a moment to dance or be goofy in middle of class. Dakota (program manager)is always floating around the gym, helping out in a class, teaching a class or helping a kid master a skill-he singled out my oldest recently to help 1 on 1. And he has worked with my youngest son as well. BHe seems to know or is familiar with all the kids across various classes- ninja and gymnastics, calls them by name and encourages or teaches them as he walks by. All the staff truly cares about all the kids in the gym whether in their class or not. Front gals (Kaitlyn & others)are always friendly/helpful. Kayla (manager )seems to do it all- with patience and a smile. Always Amazing Energy packed music that provides me with energy too. Management must good to their staff because they all seem to love the job/kids and stay- no constant turnover like you see other places. The Good: The rink does have a nice snack spot, and a full bar. Super nice lady (Sandy) that I talked to while getting my food in the smaller snack bar. There's a Pure Hockey here that, despite being small, is very well-equipped with helpful and knowledgeable staff. I bought a pair of skates from them and they made sure I got a great fit. The Bad: The ice is in pretty rough shape, especially on the south side rink, it's clear that they don't properly flood or cut it in between sessions. Parents let their kids run around like feral animals, yelling and screaming, climbing on things, and no one seems to care and the employees certainly don't do anything about it. One of the worst parts about the rink is the bathrooms. I can't speak for the ladies, but the men's room is absolutely disgusting. There's always at least one urinal that's "out of service" and the last couple of times I've been (over the past two months) only one of the three sinks has worked. Half the time there's a 1/4 inch of some liquid on the floor, not sure if it's piss or water or what, but it's nasty as hell. Whoever runs this rink is a joke, I've looked into how much you charge for ice time and you clearly aren't investing a single dime into any improvements or even basic maintenance. Get your sh!t together and fix the bathrooms, clean the place once in a while, and invest a little money into making the ice better!

As a train loving house we had to stop by Desert Breeze Park once we heard about its existence. The snack shop appeared to have some affordable snacks and treats for your visit. $5 per train ride per person isn't terrible given it takes the train almost 20 minutes to make its lap! Which is one of the longest train rides in the area based on time. I definitely think it's worth the ticket. The train takes you on a loop that nears the lake back through the station via tunnel and out and back past the tennis courts. The first half is the most scenic and the second past the tunnel is meh. This train is a nice addition to the area, fun little outing for littles. The carousel was dismantled with a large banner saying it's closed for refurb. Based on the looks of it, they are doing a complete rebuild so that may take time to reopen. In addition to the train they had a few coin operated rides. Now think they of those tiny rides in the mall. You know the ones. Little cars that just rock back and forth. $0.50 per ride and they take coins only. Like everything else they are sun fades and weather torn. While this park needs more love, it's fun and your kids will enjoy it. Nice that it's local, the playground across the way is expansive with many slides and things with swings flanking the lake. We will be back!
