I like a good farm & feed store. This place has everything except common sense. $80 work jeans, will they do the work for me? The farmers I knew growing up were about getting the work done, making money, and surviving. This is about brand name, high prices, and fancy. I tried to buy a bag of pop corn - two of the clerks were too busy standing around talking to each other. Ringing me up was an inconvenience. But Rural King did have American Flag Tshirts made in America - Nine Lines. I appreciated that. read more

Rough and down to business. Not a fancy hardware store or animal supply store, but instead an all-purpose warehouse with clothes, kitchen stuff, tools, and lots of things for animals of all kinds. I particularly like that Rural King is a Stihl dealer: great chainsaws sold here. read more

If you're ever running low on seed for your fields or mud for your barn, Rural King will fix you up real good! If your tractor needs fixed or your horse needs washed, all the supplies you'll need can be found at RK. They also got lots of nice shirts and hats with imagery ranging from bear scenes to deer scenes to wolf scenes. There's also plenty of hilarious slogan hats like, "Get the buck outta my way, it's pheasant season!" The place is run by good Christian folks, so no need to worry about safety or anything like that. Rural King - Guns for boys AND girls! - Home & Garden Near Me - Champaign, Illinois

Rural King is a pretty awesome store for good ol' country folk (I don't really fall into that category, but I like to pretend every once in a while). The best part is definitely the free popcorn at the door. There's no better way to make me feel welcomed than free food. It's "America's Farm & Home Store"... one of the few places I know that you can get so much assorted stuff! The have lots of spices (and only $1 each), clothing (all your rugged essentials), gardening (vegetable garden anyone?), hunting gear, hardware, automotive supplies, pantry goods (lots of stuff for baking & frying), kitchenwares (lots of cast iron!), and plenty of food for your dogs, birds, or horses. Definitely check it out in the spring when they have all their little baby rabbits, ducks, and chickens for sale... so cute (and a little odd). Be careful though... when you see a large display of dirty potatoes, don't get this confused with Meijer... those are taters for planting! read more

Store review: Being a city dweller I wasn't sure what to expect with this store that we had driven across many times as we left Champaign. I decided one day to hope in and see what they had to offer. I was very happy to read about the free hot popcorn they have when you walk in the store. The store itself is a cross between hardware store/k-mart/farming supply. It has a little bit of everything from food to kids toys to farming equipment. Prices were good and people were friendly. There is a few scattered clearance aisles, with okay prices. Not too cheap like Target. All and all a fun place to stop by for some popcorn and shopping. Great store for a lot of things, but the best part is the gun counter. They have friendly staff, a good selection, and the best prices in town. It would be nice to see them expand their selection even more, and sell some of the more unusual ammunition sizes (like some of the east-bloc calibers... 7.62x54R, 9x18 Makarov, 7.62x25 Tokarev, etc..) read more

I challenge any store to beat the selection, value, customer service and down home American pride that Rural King can offer. Not possible. This place has it all. I can get flannels, boots, 9mm, shovels, weed wackers whatever you want and the best part is that it's cheaper than anywhere else on earth. This store hasn't forgot about the common man. I saw some boots marked down from $149.99 to $89.93 and then down to $59.95. I went up to the register to purchase them and they would not honor the $59.95 that was advertised on the box. They said it rang up for $89.93 and that they couldn't do anything about it. I own farm animals and purchase several thousands of dollars in supplies a year from them and they just lost my business. If you advertise a price, you honor it. Very disappointed in the Manager. read more

I was emailed directly by Rural King to do a review of a product they shipped me. The product came damaged. I indicated that in my review and gave a low rating. They didn't like my review and decided to "moderate" my comments from their website. I would be skeptical of any positive ratings they have on their website, since they delete the poor ratings. read more
