My sister and I both got some socks and I got some earrings for myself and a hacky sack for my friend's son. It is a cute little store with very unique items. With the infrequency of my visits, the stock changes quite a bit. Over the years I have collected good looking table items and found exotic gifts for people. Yesterday I bought two stupendous greeting cards just because I liked them. All of this would be enough but the business model is fair trade items to benefit areas and peoples of the world which traditionally are not paid a fair wage for their labor. As a result the prices are fairly high. I like the idea of paying people a wage they deserve and getting quality, hand crafted merchandise that are more one of a kind. Later that afternoon the owner called and said she couldn't accept the items after all and I needed to pick the couch and chairs up yet that afternoon. I made emergency arrangements to have them picked up. When the driver got there he was told that they also didn't want the table and he needed to take that as well. This experience cost me extra money, endless phone calls to arrange the pickup. All because the owner changed her mind and wasn't present as promised causing this second pick up. To make it worse she wasn't even nice: she was curt and abrupt. Avoid this business at all cost.

When we first arrived, the check-out line wrapped around the checkout area and all the way down one of the main aisles of the store. Even with 4 cashiers busting their tails. Should I have visited on a Saturday? No. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I thought this HG had a great selection. Even Hobby Lobby seems to be a disappointment with their dates product along with broken, dented or scratched merchandise. Their customer service is great so I keep going there. Their picture, flower arrangements seem dated too. My first go to store is now Home Goods. Check it out you won't be disappointed. The Home Goods in Chicago and Normal were the pits and I swore I'd never go back but I am glad I did.
