I came in for the first time last Friday looking for insoles for my 12 year old son's flat feet. His pediatrician recommended that I get something with some arch support for him. After going to some of the typical shoe stores in the mall with no success, I stopped by Run Republic to see if they could help. I only live 5 minutes from here, not sure why I never thought of stopping in sooner! I think it was because I thought they only serviced adults and runners, but my son's feet are big enough that he could get something in an adult size now! And he plays basketball, so I guess technically he runs on the court...This shop also offers a good variety of running shoes, clothing, and sunglasses, as well as fitness classes. The girl who helped us, Madison, was SUPER nice and helpful!! She had my son step on some kind of plate to determine his foot profile and then found the appropriate insole for him. This is exactly why I prefer to go to a specialty shop in person for stuff like this - there's no way I could've figured out this insole situation on my own. She also told us that we could get the Father's Day discount promo which was a pleasant surprise! She also mentioned that Run Republic has a community run on Saturday mornings at 7 am, so I decided to go the next day to check it out. I consider myself a slow runner, but the route was a nice 6 mile loop that I was able to complete at my own pace- not too many hills, and relatively flat. It was led by Coach Nico, and it was really nice to see such a large group of participants at all levels running the loop around Walnut (with the more experienced runners doing a longer loop). They did group warm ups before we started and they have a group cool down afterwards - alas, I didn't experience that since I had to leave right when I returned for an appointment I had. Although I absolutely love the workouts and the people at this location, it is unfortunate that I can not say the same about the way this business is run by the owners. I am struggling to understand how the owner of a business can just ignore their clients and yet expect to run a sustainable business. From the photos you can see I was looking to enroll my daughter to the program. I was offered a lifetime membership and even received it via text message. A few weeks later, my daughter received her job placement and we were ready to move forward with the offer. I was informed that the offer I had in writing was no longer available, with reasons that did not make any senses. I NEVER received a call regarding the offer, nor a text indicating that the offer given to me had a deadline. One of the reasons I was given, is that they no longer offered lifetime memberships, however, from the photos you can see it was STILL advertised on their site. I reached out to the owner to speak to him personally, however, as you can see from my photo below, he chose to ignore me. I find this extremely disheartening since I paid a lot of money for a lifetime membership two years ago and even found unauthorized charges on my cc from this location, claiming it was on my contract when my copy clearly did not show this. I never received any credit for the unauthorized transaction, which although the charge was not much, it was NOT authorized, and is the principle of the situation. I never complained about it, I only mentioned it to Joe, and like this situation, he just ignored me. My card on file simply expired, and that is probably best for everyone involved. I am in no way suggesting the community not do business here, however, I am raising awareness to MY experience with this location so that others in our community are cautious before giving credit card or checking information to them. read more
