Came for softball gear and they had good selections. Really appreciate how helpful everyone was, including Driana!

Usually when I shop here there is a coupon available so I get you in more savings on the already good prices. The last few trips I got Adidas slide slippers and ski gear. There's always good shoes on sale good deals on Pickleball equipment and of course ski equipment and conveniently located around the LA area. Of course I'll always be back to big five. read more

Came in today for rain gear to this location after the Big 5 in Whittier was out of stock of what I was looking for (Rain Pants). This location is well stocked from rain gear outerwear to boots. Salesman Victor not so helpful but Angela saved the day. She immediately walked me to what I was looking for. I recommend this location but ask or look for Angela. read more

I rarely write reviews on big box stores, because it's like writing a review on McDonald's. It's going to be the same wherever you go. However, when you're slighted, sometimes you just need to Yelp. Went to go buy a fishing license for the family. Asked a group of employees that were talking at the register if someone could assist me. The customer service person seemed annoyed at my questions about the purchasing process and started to raise her voice, so much so she caught herself and lowered it. My main questions were, if they're a minor how would they be able show ID? Does everyone need to be present? And can you purchase it online if you're not able to assist me? I don't think she entirely knew, maybe that's why she was annoyed. The kicker is she said I couldn't purchase online for the next day, the state would need to mail it to me. Welp, here I sit with one printed after purchasing it online. I realize this isn't a Big 5 thing, you can have a clerk that is having a bad day, or maybe a poor disposition. I will say this though, the only perks of going to a brick and mortar store is that you can go in, talk to a real person and ask questions. When you fail at that, well then I can see why Amazon is killing the competition. An app won't get annoyed and raise their voices at the customers. read more

Been coming here for a few sporting good needs. They always have what I need. Prices are high. But whatever. That's everywhere. Great service and knowledgeable workers. Thanks for making this my go to sporting goods store. Keep up the good work. Lower your prices! Lol read more

I wish I would have asked the staffs name, she was so helpful over the phone. I needed soccer socks last minute for my kids pictures. I called first and was happy to hear they had the color and size we needed. 2 pairs for $10, not a bad deal at all. read more

Came in here to buy a pair of shoes for my daughter. The customer service was decent for me and my husband, but not so much for the person in front of us. The customer in front of us was smiling and asking questions and even thanked the clerk for walking her through the payment process. The clerk seemed inpatient and was not polite at all. Being kind and having patience is so important specially, when you're helping an elderly person. By reading the comments below this seems to be an issue. Upper management invest in your employees. Train them to be welcoming, patient and friendly. read more

I get Big 5's emailed coupons every day. Most of the time they have something useful at great prices. A few weeks ago I purchased a $49 backpack for $17. I try to make emergency packs for my kids cars. Things like first aid kits, flares, matches [yeah I was a Boy Scout], granola bars, a water bottle and a blanket. With these earthquakes, it seems more important than ever. Today I came in for a pair of sneakers for $18. Yup, $18. And I use wide shoes. This pair of LA Gear are super comfortable and allows me to sport some clean white shoes for change. The service is always great. I love coming here. read more

Nice store. Came right when it opened at 9:02 am lol. Clean, organized, employees were nice. Snow jackets were outrageous though at $100ish dollars. Lots of parking. Next to a lot of other stores in a convenient plaza. What else do you want from a sports equipment store lol? read more

When I came, all of the staff were enerving. In fact an off duty worker went into a long diatribe with an on duty worker having me wait 5 minutes to ask for a particular item with my friend. She was also rude to the brim as my girl friend reiterated. We will be contacting the store manager and total team to get her removed asap. read more

Horrible costumer service I waited to be help for 15min with shoes off. Nobody would help us. after she brought the shoes to try... (with a very bad attitud), she disappeared. - Locale Destination - It's on Colima Rd and between Albatross Rd and S Azusa Ave in Rowland Heights. It's in a skinny shopping plaza by "Starbucks". Plenty of parking. They have a bit of everything from every "sport" category you can think of. Fishing, shooting, tennis, golf, swimming, yoga, baseball, workout, soccer, footballs, running etc.. They could have a sign for each section since they got so many categories. Each section is jam packed with its items and well organized. Once you see it, you can tell which category you look at. However, it's easier to find the section you need if they had a sign. The staff were nice. - Gluttony Expedition - Some sections I checked: Guns: Not real ones to the real ones. This country got a full of loco/loca, yet you can easily get the real gun here at the "sports" shop.... No pistolas para Americano pinche loco?! (Mi no habra espanol). God bless America... Swimming: From a nose clip to swim wears like speedos. You can find some items you wouldn't find at regular stores. You can find some of the items cheaper at 99 cent store, discount stores like Marshall's or Target. Camping: From tents to the gears. Workout: From gloves to water bottles. I needed the gloves for my workout. You need to watch out the size for it. They usually have small to large. They tend to have the better pricing than others (at least on the gloves), though you could find a deal at discount stores sometimes. Shoes: Though each section seems to have the specialty shoes (baseball, golf, football etc.), they have lots of shoes and sandals. Check out the sale section! - Conqueror's Deduction - I workout a lot at gym. I used to workout with a trainer. I really don't have any preference on stuff except for the shoes. Good shoes make a big difference on the performance and your body. I like the light one, so I tend to prefer Nike to NB etc. Gloves? Clothing? I don't care. I wear whatever - even "SKINS" (high end sports wear that Olympic athletes wear) for the muscle soreness, not for the style ;p I do free weight a lot, so I need to have gloves not to make my hands ugly and hard. That's why I come to Big 5. I think it's better than "Sports chalet" and "Sports authority", though Big 5 isn't really for "style" much compared to others (more focus on the functionality) for sure... I admit that I don't look pretty in any means at gym (except for my ass, abs and arms ;p). I don't make up unlike most chicks, I mourn and have a flown to kick my butt while working out. I workout seriously and am focused on muscles I work on so that I can be healthy both physically and mentally, and mostly, eat whatever I want and be a non-fat foodie. Without the hard work and ugly face (while working out ;p), my muscles won't get toned well.. ;( I wouldn't come here for style, just for my needs ;p read more

Horrible customer service in the morning. Whoever is working todays shift 8/24 is very lazy. I walked up to the door even tho you guys aren't open yet you couldn't came to the door and said e open in 30 min. Just set at the register and act like she didn't see me. Instead I had to wave my hands to get her attention. Then just lip talked like I can here yiu waited 5 more mins. There's no real customer service in this area so can't complain. No one wants to be at work around here read more

They have pretty good deals at Big 5. So let me take you on my routine when I come into Big 5.. So my first stop when I go to Big 5 is the shoe section. They have really good deals on shoes. They do have some weird shoe brands. But try them on! You might like them. I usually come here to pick up some Wilson Tennis shoes for about $30. I have gotten a pair of LA Gear shoes for $20 (only for indoor use). I was looking to get a pair of Denali running/hiking shoes for $20 (but wasn't too sure yet). Then my next stop is the tennis the section. When I wanted to pick up another tennis racket, I came here to check out their many choices. Check out the deals! Then I slowly make my way to the middle of the store where the clothing sections are. I have gotten shirts, shorts, hats, socks, warm ups, and beanies, from Big 5. Then I see the basketball section and I know I gotta check it out. I got my full size all surface leather basketball here for $20 (it still hasn't seen the outdoors yet.. I refuse to play it on concrete :P) Then before I leave I check out the gun section. That is my usual routine when I go into a Big 5. Staff has always been helpful. Never had a problem with them. Parking can suck here. Just because some wise guy decided to put the parking spots so close together. Will I be back? Probably! If their is another good deal that I can't pass up! And I still need to pick up a new tennis racket and maybe grab those Denali shoes! read more

I would not purchase anything from Big 5 again. I bought a beach tent and it was flying everywhere at the beach. I decided to purchase one my friend had that was sturdier and planned to return the one I bought from Big 5. HOWEVER, they stated I couldn't return it because it was not "original" condition. There was sand and a loose string that they stayed was "ripped." That "ripped" string was used to tie around the tent, we just didn't do it. They should be more knowledgeable about their products! Additionally, they ripped my box while inspecting it. I could've resold it for more if the box was in original condition. read more

I was amazed at the size of this store. This store is extremely small with a limited selection compared to other sporting good stores. They keep a modest stock on hand, so if you are looking for a specialty item you might want to try a different store. Things are constantly going on sale at Big 5, so you might want to check out the weekly ads before going to the store. It ended up that they didn't have what my bf was looking for, so we left empty handed. read more

Bad customer service. Went here to purchase badminton rackets and the cashier accidentally gave us the wrong price for one of our items. We immediately cleared up the mistake right there but the cashier was really rude about it. It took her forever to give us our refund back and she looked really annoyed when she had to clear the mistake. She didn't apologize for the mistake and she even gave us less for our refund. P.S. the cashier's name was Angela. read more

This store has everything we need for camping or sporting goods. The price is reasonable. It is much lower than Dick's stores, and very cheap when they have promotions on sale. I like to buy athletic socks for my husband. Usually it costs $16/ 6-pack, but it's only $10 for a 6-pack or a 10-pack on sale. However, customer service isn't that good. Though they try not to make it obvious, they have a cold, uncaring attitude. The store is clean and has plenty of parking space outside. Overall, I still like to shop here. read more

There are Big 5 stores all over, but got sent here since apparently the very last model of the shoe and size that I like was in stock here. That is such a bummer to find a running shoe that works for you not crazy expensive and to find out that they aren't going to manufacture it anymore, can't even find it online... anyways back to Big 5. I don't know if this location is going out of business or there are just having good deals on shoes! The painted advertisement of SALE and DISCOUNTED kinda make it look like those furniture stores advertisements. :p So I tried on a few other shoes while I was there and the sales people are fantastic! I would recommend this place if you are into running shoes. FYI they have tons of shoes in the back storage that aren't even on display! So if you know the brand you like and want to try a different model or want a specific color and don't see it... just ask you don't know you might end up with better shoes for cheaper. read more

Store was insistent that coupon for $5 off $25 was not good for Nike items when it clearly says Nike Pro apparel which if I remember correctly are things such as sports team jerseys, funny how they honor the coupon at other locations such as San Dimas and West Covina but not here. read more

I am a fan of sporting stuff...NOW. Small selection, but the prices are pretty decent. For example, I needed a yoga mat, desperately, for my first yoga class at the GYM. I looked at Old Navy and other stores, their yoga mats were easily marked $20. So the BF reminded me to go to BIG 5 across the street, so I went and I found my current yoga mat, ON SALE, for $15 bucks! What a deal! I would love to come back for more stuff. However, I go to DICKS Sporting Goods for softball equipment and another spot for softball gear. read more

The absolute worst customer service. The young lady at the front end has no idea how to speak to customers and when given the opportunity to interact act and answer questions she wants to rush thru the transaction so she can continue to speak to her co-workers. Found some very cheap Nike shoes. Store is small and kind of crowded with stuff. Hardly any golf stuff. But overall a nice store.

So bummed! terrible customer service. We walked in to find a pair of boots for my child and all 4 workers refused to help us find the correct size. After several attempts to get assistance had to walk out of the store empty handed with a very disappointed 9 year old. Then, when my sister walked into the store after we left, all 4 workers were standing at the cash register discussing how I had requested help and left after not being serviced. so disappointing. read more

This 5 stars is give it to the Manager Angie. Trying to renew my FSC license. All Big 5 told me if you are not buying any firearm, we will not give out the test. But Angie help me out and let me took the test. Fantastic customer service. read more

Those shoes should be on Sale as advertised. But they I tried to checked out. They told me that they were advertised wrong and also have wrong tag on it. This review is strictly based on service, because it's been a long time since I've seen service like this Came in looking for a punching bag for my son, we saw a couple of very young men standing in the front. One of them, Adrian, greeted me and asked me what I'm looking for, I told him I'm looking for a punching bag and he took us to the back showed us our various options, and stood there waiting for us and was patient with us until we made our choice. He then went into the back, found our selection, put it on a dolly took us to the front to pay. Once we made payment he took the punching bag all the way to the car and loaded it up for us. Young workers don't do that anymore, this young man was very respectful and responsible and I really appreciate it. Ask for Adrian when you come here. Thanks Adrian! read more

One thing about Big 5, is that when they have their sales...they have some great deals across the board. I've always come here for whatever sport I just happen to be into at the moment, from softball, basketball, golf, tennis, working out, etc... This time around, I spotted this awesome deal on their weekly sale paper for a punching bag set. I've been wanting to get one for a while now, simply for conditioning and cardio (ok, who am I kidding, I'm stressed out and I just wanna hit something since I can't hit idiots that piss me off on a daily basis) So yeah, I finally got my punching bag...so as soon as I set this one up in my garage, then it's on! But back to my review...this particular branch has some really helpful and friendly employees, which makes shopping here a little more pleasant than other sporting goods stores. There's a couple of cutie cashiers that work here too, so that is always a plus in my book.. read more

The selection isn't that great at this Big 5 (probably due to its small size), but the service I receive here is always excellent. I always try bunch of shoes here and rarely buy them but the workers are always helpful. I'm not gonna complain about the mediocre non-sale item prices because they're the same at all Big 5's but they do what they can. For example, last night I found a bonnie hat that strangely had a different price than the others. It was a prior sale sticker they forgot to remove and they just let me have it for that price ($5.99). Cool! read more
