I came here with my fiancé after she had some toe pain while on walking intensive vacation. The salesperson was friendly, sized her, and brought out a selection of shoes to try on. The pair of On running shoes she got are now her favorite for work and exercise, and she can't back to her old sneakers that were a half size too small. If you walk, run or aspire to use your feet for more than objects to put fancy looking dress shoes upon, then you need good advice for the right shoes for your endeavor. Styles and marketing hype could get you in trouble if you try on your own. Run On! is staffed with shoe experts. People who can help you not be hobbled with foot injuries from picking the wrong shoe. I took a friend here after seeing her hobbled from suggestions by less qualified people. As I sat there relearning things I was once told, my friend was getting absolutely expert advice and suggestions, not up sales for shoes she didn't need. The shoe expert showed her a few tricks for lacing and made some great suggestions on socks. I benefited from some of the sock education which solved one of my problems on moisture movement. The store is mostly for the runner or walker but is good for those who are active on their feet (dog walking, lot of time shopping, volunteer work, chasing the kids, etc...). Their product selection is very good as it gives you quite a few options. It ranges from shoes, socks, clothing, accessories and branches into quick energy snacks, muscle recovery/massage tools, and even electronic devices (step counters, GPS, etc.). It is very convenient; located off Mockingbird and near 75. Large parking lot and a few places to shop and eat after you finish (or to walk in your new shoes and socks). The prices are not deeply discounted, but what you are purchasing more than just product. You are getting experience and expert knowledge. Thus you really are getting a good deal. They are also the place to learn about run/walk training opportunities and some of the local running groups. They are also very knowledgeable about upcoming events so you can get some good wear out of your new shoes! I'm back at Run On after several years. I signed up for the evening 5K classes again, and this time it's a 4 week class, I assume since it's too hot to start earlier. Not much has changed from the first time I join Run On in 2009, except the store has been remodeled and looks soooo much better. The major difference is before we run we do some core strengthening exercises. They are brutal to me considering the most exercise I get daily is typing on my keyboard and walking to and from my car at work. We start those and then get with our group to run. It's kind of cool that after a long break I ended up in a group with one of my old running buddies, Christy! I'm in the group that runs for 2 minutes and then walks for 1. We have a schedule that is always on the Run On website under the member section that lets us know what we'll be doing during the 4 weeks, and we're supposed to do a run on our own on Saturdays and do some cross training other days. We're training to be able to run a 5K on September 27th. I plan on resigning up after these classes end for the next session that trains you to run the Turkey Trot 5K. I encourage anyone that wants to run or just do something to lose weight (what I'm trying to acheieve) to check out the classes. You learn running techniques plus gear and hydration and injury prevention stuff. Lots of good stuff for a fairly cheap price (around $50 for the 4 weeks). Making friends and having people to run and talk to makes the runs go by a little faster than if you were out by yourself. Still highly recommend! PS - they still have free social runs every Wednesday if you ever want to check out what the classes are kind of about. read more

New Year's Resolution: Run a 5k. So, since it's August, I decided to get on that! I came into this store yesterday to sign up for a beginner's running class and get some new shoes based on Kristie's review about how it helped her learn to run with the right posture and pace and everything, which are skills I need to acquire- STAT! After 2 hours of trying on every brand of shoe in the store, Liz helped me find some Nikes that fit my arch. It was really exciting! I start the beginners running class on Tuesday at 7:15 and am nervous since 30 seconds of running knocks me out... but I will prevail! read more

It's been a long while since I've run for exercise, but I've signed up for the Dallas Marathon on a relay team, and I'm doing the Mavs 5K later this week so I needed to get a good pair of running shoes versus the Nike's I have been training in. Make sure you allow at least 30 mins if you're coming in. This is gonna be a full service/ watch you walk and run/ tailor your shoe selection to your specific run style type of deal. You will likely try on many pairs of shoes before you settle on the one that fits you almost as if it wasn't even there. My saleswoman was fantastic and very knowledgable. She even gave me a running tip noticing that in the store I was heel-striking. After trying about 4 different shoes I settled on one of the first ones she had brought to me and I have been loving my new Asics so far. The good thing is that you have 30 days to return the shoes EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE BEEN RUNNING IN THEM! How great is that? Now if you put 200 miles on them, you may have something to discuss with the management, but if you seriously tried them on 5 runs and they just aren't working out, you can return no questions asked. Prices for my shoes matched exactly what I found on the web, so no problems there. One other tip: if this store doesn't have the style or color you are looking for- make sure you check their other locations in case they have it. They also offer a ton of training runs and other running community activities which sound really fun but which I have never checked out but hope to. At the end of the day, you get really personalized service here from running enthusiasts and it makes a world of difference. read more

After being pissed off in Dick's Sporting Goods, I decided I had to go see more of a specialist store. I needed a wide running shoe in a women's 9 wide. Dick's doesn't carry wides. I don't want to wear ugly boy shoes. To make it more challenging, I need a motion control shoe. When I explained my predicament to the lady at Run On, she said, first, let's measure your foot. Turns out in running shoes I should really be a 9.5 so my toes have enough room in the toe box when my foot rolls off the front. In a motion control, wide, 9.5, WOMEN'S (not ugly men's) shoe I had a choice of.............two pairs of shoes. She said normally I would have had four options but their stock was running low. I got a pair of Brooks, motion control, 9.5, double wide, Ariel model. I'm happy. My feet are happy. I'm more stable when I work out. I wish I would have bought these shoes two months ago. I can do more and get more out of my work out and best of all, I don't even have to think about my shoes or my feet. I can concentrate on moving muscles. Thank you Run On. I have been running with the Rogue running group (not to be confused with team rogue) for about a year and have stuck with the same brand and make of shoe that I've been running with for years. I recently started experiencing some back pain and thought I should look into switching it up. Mark was amazing. He understood what I was looking for and also provided valuable insight just by looking at my walk and the wear on my old shoes. There's not really much I can say to add to the other reviews, so I'll just say ditto. Here are a few tips from my experience: ~If you go on a Saturday, go early. The place fills up fast and there was quite a waiting list by the time I left. ~Bring whatever socks and shoes you're currently wearing when you exercise. The socks will especially come in handy to make sure they're going to work with your new shoes. ~Try not to be nervous when your foot person is watching you walk. I had to take several extra laps because I was walking weird. What? She was staring at my feet, yo. ~Don't even ask the price of the shoe before you buy it. You're at Run On to find the right shoes for your feet, not to find the cheapest thing you can. Just go with it. I never realized how important it was to have sneakers matched exactly to your feet until I found Run On. Now I can't imagine how I ever walked without them. read more

I recently purchased my second pair of running shoes from RunOn! Dallas because I started training for a marathon and wanted to make sure - beyond a shadow of a doubt - that I wouldn't injure myself because of my footwear selection. Melanie helped me this last time and I LUFF HER! She was interested in my running habits and schedule, the amount of time I'd been running, my type of running, my goals, and my comfort level. Talk about thorough! I know these are all things that they have to ask to make an informed decision, but this sets them apart from the other stores. Melanie brought out 2 pairs of shoes that didn't work out well. I have a very high yet flexible arch and I'm really hard to fit for shoes. We moved on to 2 other pairs and I found one that felt like a sock (that's a good thing). I ended up with the Mizuno Inspire. I don't remember how much they were but I know they were expensive. I am a firm believer in the motto, "You get what you pay for". Plus, RunOn! is a boutique store that will probably never be able to compete in price with Dick's, Sports Authority or Academy. In an attempt to amp up my entirely absent workout routine, I signed up for the 8 week 5k class offered by Run On. As the kind of person who had never run more than a literal minute in the out of doors, I was a bit scared the class was going to crush me and that I would stop going because of a deep hopelessness I couldn't shake. Thankfully that hasn't happened yet. I'm only in my third week of the class though, so I suppose it could all go sideways at any moment! They divide the class up according to how fast you run a mile in the first class. Then you run with a group of folks who are in your general pace pack (+-2 min/mile). Even though our pace is supposed to be easy conversational for most of the runs, I'm definitely less conversational and more gasping for air. I can still keep up okay though, so at least I'm getting a workout, and it doesn't crush my soul enough to not return for the following class. It's not cheap. $110 for the 8 week, 5k version. The class meets 2x a week and then there are also optional Wednesday night social runs that you can participate in, regardless of whether you're in the class. They also run a 4 week version of the course in the early fall and summer which is somewhere in the $40-50 range. I should have started with that, but it was still too hot for me to actually believe I'd attend and thus would have been a ginormous waste of money. As for the store, it's pretty well stocked for its size and has a variety of workout clothes, lights, socks, shoes, and other gear. Price point a bit above average, but they have sales you can take advantage of and a special weekend that class members can get an extra discount. read more

If you're a runner, you probably already know a lot about yourself, your running style, your speed, how injuries will occur and affect you, and so on. I did too, atleast i thought i did. Then i injured my foot while training for a triathalon, and couldn't get better. So a friend turned me on to Run On, for help. These people couldn't have been nicer from the get go, and they told me to tell them my story. They looked at my feet, and where i was hurting. Then they told me to just walk through the store. And it was like a light buld went off in the guy's head, he jumped up, ran to the back, and came out with a selection of shoes that were way better suited for my foot and running style, than what i was working with. It helped so much, they are pros. They all are big runners up there, so they even gave me tips for my race. They have great prices, always have my size, good products, and not just shoes. You can get your workout attire there, running accesories, and even the carb goo crap that gives you that extra boost. Run on has won my business for sure. read more

If you're a new "runner" then this is the place to go for shoes and socks. They had me do all kinds of walking exercises & movements so that they could figure out the perfect running shoe for my whacky feet. I'm also extremely self-conscious of my hoofs but the young guy made me feel completely comfortable. They don't have the biggest selection of running shoes as compared to Academy or something, but this location's building is small and they have enough merchandise for any newbie to get started. They give great coupons when you're a first-time buyer/runner and/or spend a certain amount. Or at least they did when I was in there in 2010. read more

Wow! I experienced the best customer service today thanks to Mark. The second I walked in the door, I was warmly greeted and Mark was excited to help me find my new pair of running shoes. I was blown away by his wealth of knowledge, patience, and how overall kind he was. He spent a lot of time with me making sure I selected the correct shoes for my goals and could not have been more helpful or patient. Because of Mark's kindness I ended up purchasing 5 additional items on top of the one pair of shoes I intended on buying. He was very genuine and even invited me to the weekly community runs on Wednesdays! I like shopping outside of big-box stores. I like running, or the thing I call running that's more like a mix between fast walking and slow jogging. I needed/wanted a water bottle for my runs. I used to have one that hooked to my running belt that I promptly knocked off and lost mid half marathon. I went in search of one with a hand strap and found one that included a little zippered pouch too. It was a little pricy but I'll use it so much and it has everything! I looked around the store at clothing then went to check out. I put my bottle on the counter and the employee behind the counter asked, "Where's that shirt? Did you put it back?" I couldn't tell if he was saying 'I saw you holding a shirt you seemed to like, did you decide against it?' or if he meant, 'hey, did you steal that shirt?' read more

I've recently injured my foot and running in my old shoes was nearly impossible, despite my trying to doctor up the shoes with some new insoles... So fine! I'll buy new running shoes! (Who am I kidding... I love buying new workout gear!) As a pretty inexperienced runner, I wanted a one on one fitting where I could learn more about what my body needs, and that's exactly what I got at Run On! I was very pleased with my fitting. My associate watched me walk in my bare feet, and made me jog a little as well. He explained what my feet do and what a good shoe would do to correct that. He recommended three different shoes and let me try on each one, explaining the best shoe wouldn't even feel like a shoe. I ended up buying his first recommendation and am very glad I did! I also bought a pair of shorts that were on sale and ended up having to return them, but that went very smoothly! The level of customer service at Run On! is top notch and I will definitely return once my bank account recovers from buying my new shoes. They're an investment, right? read more

I came here with my trainer today and bought a new pair of running shoes. The staff was so knowledgeable about shoes it was scary; maybe too knowledgable. They measure your feet both length and width and then help you choose the best arch according to your instep. They had me walk a bit back and forth and watched my stride to help me make the best choice. I just finished my first run with the shoes and I love them. I was worried about the dreadful first-time-worn-blister, but no blister here. It felt like I was walking (or running) on air. I have bad shin splints so this is important. I felt like the shock of the impact of my feet hitting the concrete is more absorbed now that I have the right arch for my foot. They only thing that bothered me was there were no price tags on the shoes so I had to ask about the price for every shoe I was interested in. I felt like I was an annoyance, but I'm a bargain shopper. I also wish they had more to choose from. But for the serious runner, do yourself a favor and come here. read more

I. Love. Run On! I have yet to have even a remotely not amazing experience here. The staff is not only friendly, but extremely knowledgeable. (Tip: if you're looking for new running shoes, bring in your current pair and they can look to see whether it was a good shoe for you.) They bring out a few options, you try them on, walk/run around, discuss with the staff, then try on other pairs to compare. Their prices are great, and aren't any more than other stores I've seen. (You may be able to find the shoes cheaper online, but then you forfeit the amazing service.) If you are a runner, beginner or not, Run On! knows what they are talking about and will get you in a shoe that's right for you. And hey, if you don't like the shoe you buy, you can bring it back and they'll get you in one you do like. read more

I'm new in town and needed a pair of running shoes - A friend recomended Run On! I was greeted by friendly staff and was helped promptly with a shoe fitting. Dave, who helped me, was fantastic - he analyzed my walking and made a recomendation on the best shoes to buy. I tried a couple pairs on and finally settled on a pair. With so many shoes to choose from these days - it was great having someone who could help guide me in the right direction. I had a fantastic experience and will definitely rely on Run On! for all of my future jogging/athletic wear needs. As far as pricing goes, I have no idea what shoes cost these days - and customer service goes a long way in my book. When my items were totaled at the register, I was pleasantly surprised by the low cost! Not a great experience from the sales rep I had, Earl. Everyone else staff wise seemed very helpful to their customers who all seemed happy. Earl was unable to help beyond standing and staring at me while I asked questions and got 1 word answers. I would have loved to be treated like the other customers with a shoe fitting and knowledge. I previously had on shoes and will likely stay with them however when asked the difference between the on shoes, Earl provided me with an answer of its minimal as a difference when asked to elaborate I was told it means its minimal. Very disheartening experience as I went in looking forward to purchasing new shoes. Was ready to spend the $140 on the shoes but couldn't wait to just get out of there! read more
