A place that truly lives up to the hype. A great location for celebrations and date nights! Extremely vibey interior. The food is just incredible, with a ton of options for everyone! The lamb ribs, grilled salmon, and duck fesenjoon were some of our favorites.

Had dinner here while traveling to Houston for a FIFA game. I really loved the decor, design, and overall atmosphere. They offer complimentary valet parking, and both indoor and outdoor seating. On busy weekend nights, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. I didn't have one, so I sat at the bar, but still received full service. I ordered the koobideh kabab, which came with complimentary fresh hot bread, plus a plate of vegetables. The kabab itself was good as well. I also tried the naranj soda, which tasted really refreshing. Service was okay, but it was a busy night.

Another place that has been on my "Hit List" for some time. I walked in with high expectations as I go to their original location in DC often. Walking in i was surprised as how different the vibe was. The DC location is much smaller and more intimate. The Houston location is much more spacious and gives a more upscale vibe. Service was top level from the moment you walk in. Welcomed with a warm smile and taken straight to my table. Waters and menus came right as I was sitting. I started with the Dolmeh, the minced beef was seasoned very well. The pomegranate sauce was a bit strong for my taste buds. My main course was the Lamb Kabob which was spot on to my experience from the DC location. I did notice they were very generous with the raisins in the basmati rice. I did receive a free birthday desert which surprised me. They brought me the Persian ice cream sandwich and it was amazing! I'm looking forward to going back soon.

SS Poet: delicious tart with a gingery bite to it Dolmeh: hearty but a bit too sweet Service: Good pace. Not too fast and gives room for time to enjoy the experience Gormeh Sabzi: Citrusy, potation layer on top was crispy Ice cream sandwich was a bit too floral but deliciously nutty. Ambiance is active as the sound of others is not muted. Darker lighting makes for a nice date spot.

When craving Persian food, you gotta go to Rumi's. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, and the place I always take my friends from out of town to. I lost count on how mang times I've been here. A few of my favorites are the beef koobideh, shrimp, sea bass, but my number one has to be the lamb rack. I always get the mushroom hummus! It's a must. The whipped feta has these sweet tomatoes that are addicting. The restaurant is gorgeous and the servers are usually attentive. It may seem pricy to some, but trust me, the portions are huge. You can honestly share the lamb rack plate and the mushroom hummus between 2 people, and be stuffed. That's my usual order!

Wow--this place exceeded expectations. From the food to the ambiance, drinks, and service, everything was top-tier. Here's what we ordered and what I'd absolutely recommend: Drinks: The Shazdeh Garden was a showstopper--beautiful presentation and even better taste. Easily one of the best cocktails I've had in a while. The Turkish coffee martini was also the perfect pairing with dessert. Apps: * Labne Charred Tomatoes - 10/10, absolutely incredible * Roasted Cremini & Mushroom Hummus - 10/10, hands down one of my favorite dishes of the night * Mirza Ghasemi (eggplant) - 9/10, very flavorful and worth ordering Entrées / Feast: * American Wagyu Kabob - 10/10, an absolute must-order * Chicken Barg - 9/10, very well executed * Koobideh Kabob - 10/10, delicious * Braised Lamb Shank - 10/10, tender, flavorful, and another must-get dish We also added the Shirin rice, green chili chutney, and yogurt--all great complements to the meal. Dessert: * Pistachio cake - 9/10, delicious * Toffee cake - 10/10, my personal favorite of the night What really elevated the experience was the service. Our server, Adorian, was exceptional--attentive, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations that made the meal even better. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the vibe is upscale without feeling pretentious, and the entire experience felt special. I'd absolutely recommend this spot for a date night, celebration, or if you're simply looking for an amazing meal. We'll definitely be back. Thank you, Rumi's Kitchen, for such an incredible dining experience.

Apps: Labne Charred Tomatoes 10/10 - incredible! Roasted cremini and mushroom hummus 12/10 - perfection! Mirza Ghasemi eggplant - 9/10 - very tasty. Lamb ribs - 10/10 - delish. Feast: American Wagyu Kabob - 10/10 - this was divine. Must get this one. Chicken Barg 9/10 - so good. Koobideh kabob - 10/10 - delicious. Braised Lamb shank - 10/10 - delectable - the lamb is a must. Sides- we added the shirin rice (delightful) and the green chili chutney and yogurt. Desserts: Pistachio cake - 910 - yummy Toffee cake - 10/10 incredible - this one was my fav. Service was remarkable! Our server, Adorian, was SUPERB! He recommended some great selections, was very attentive, and gave us a phenomenal experience. I absolutely recommend this place! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the vibe is top-tier. We will undoubtedly be back! Thank u Rumi's Kitchen for a superior dinning experience!

Love rumis!!! Everything from the freshness of the food, to the amazing service and the vibe of the restaurant is 10/10. You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu, but our faves are the chicken wings, falafel, tahini hummus, beef koobideh and the chicken! Check this place out!

Falafel (5 stars) - best I've ever had. Thin, crispy exterior and soft, smooth, and seasoned underneath
    Daniel C.

My colleague from Houston has selected another 5-star restaurant for a business dinner. The restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night and somehow he snagged a table for four. Houstonians, flush with cash, seem to love dining out all days of the week. You'll have the beat experience if you split several appetizers and a few entrees family style: 1. Falafels are a must get and were among the best I've had. Golf-ball sized with a thin crispy crust and super smooth, green filling. 2. Mushroom Hummus is another winner. The cremini mushrooms added so much earthy flavor and umami that the hummus was in the background. 3. Texas-sized Grilled Gulf Shrimp were like the size of baby lobsters. It was seasoned perfectly, flavor permeating the meat and not just the shell. 4. Eggplant was decent and good with the toasted flatbread. 5. For entrees, the Sea Bass was outstanding. They must have cooked it sous vide to get that silky smooth texture while finishing on the grill to get that outer crispy crust. The chicken breast was juicy and the koobideh were both good too but that seabass was simply on another level. Obviously, even with four people we had difficulty finishing up the mountains of rice. Also, no room for dessert. The appetizers were all worth it.

Just the BEST drink ever! SS Poet

Wow! This place did not disappoint. We started the evening at the bar while waiting for a table. Note to self: make reservations next time. We got super lucky because someone didn't show up. I kicked things off with a bourbon cocktail (SS Poet). It went down smoothly -- almost too smoothly. A couple more of those and I would've been in trouble. Luckily, they have an extensive wine selection, so we ordered a lovely bottle instead. I definitely want to go back and drink my way through the cocktail list. On to the food! We started with hummus and couldn't decide which one to get, so we ordered two. My favorite was the lamb hummus -- I loved the crispy texture combined with the soft, pillowy layers of hummus. Total party in your mouth. I probably wouldn't order the mushroom one again. There was nothing wrong with it; the mushrooms just overpowered the hummus a bit for me. Now for the star of the show: the Koobideh. Out of this world. Probably the best I've had in Houston, and I've tried quite a few places. If I had to rank the entrées: Koobideh #1, filet #2 Shish), chicken #3, and shrimp last. The shrimp just weren't my favorite -- they had a stronger seafood aroma than I prefer. Overall, I would come back a thousand times. The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant is huge. Parking isn't great, so valet is basically your best bet. Highly recommend checking this place out. Cheers!

Outstanding. I have been wanting to come here for so long and finally did this year for my birthday. First of all, the restaurant is gorgeous. Looks straight out of restoration hardware. The service is amazing. Everyone who works here is so nice and accommodating. Our waitress was so sweet. I got the espresso martini which was delicious. I'm seriously an espresso martini connoisseur and this was 11/10. We started with the lamb hummus, which was insane. Drooling thinking about it now. We also got the wings to start out with as well, which are some of my favorite in persian cuisine. I got the koobideh and split it with my mom. It was very flavorful and authentic. Could've been a littleee more juicier and tender, still super tasty though. My step dad got the chicken kebab which was fantastic. We got a toffee cake dessert which was out of this world. The waitress even gave us complimentary persian ice cream sandwhiches which I loved. If you do not like rose water you will not like it, however, I knew I would. We also were given another type of pudding dessert which was so good as well, which hasn't hit the menu yet. All in all this place is one of my favorite restaurants now. I've had so much home cooked persian food and this was very authentic. I was extremely impressed. I cannot wait to come back here. Merci. ‍

I came to roomie's kitchen for my birthday lunch and it was a beautiful experience. The food was very delicious. The interior is absolutely gorgeous and the service was impeccable. I really enjoyed everything I consumed and I wanted to take home the dip and the bread that we had received. I cannot wait to return.

It wasn't the greatest start since I was waiting for 5 minutes for a host/hostess to attend to us…read more I think she was busting tables or in the kitchen but she was nice once we were accommodated. Once seated our server Baba introduced himself and made great recommendations. Now I'm not the biggest fan of hummus but I'm glad I got to try it. To start off, they brought us some complimentary bread. It came out hot & fresh. The bread was fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I also enjoyed the roasted sesame seeds that they put on top of the bread. Then I had the mango lemonade drink which I thought was refreshing and the mango was strong. As stated I rarely eat hummus but theirs is made in house and I can tell because it was delicious. It was creamy, nutty, savory and earthy. My friend decided to get their lamb shish kabob combo and I got the soltani kabob. His came with lamb and chicken and mine came with beef tenderloin and ground beef. Both dishes were amazing especially his since the chicken was bursting with flavor. Nicely grilled and seasoned. The lamb was also solid as well, it was tendered. The beef tenderloin was also nicely seasoned & tendered. The ground beef was my least favorite since it tasted like hamburger meat, but I don't hate it. The rice was cooked to perfection. At the end I ordered their dessert and got the Bastani Irani. It says on the website that it's homemade but our server informed us that they purchased it from a vendor. Not a big deal for me since the ice cream was very good. Creamy, sweet and the nuts added texture to the dessert. Baba was kind enough to give me two more breads to take home since I still had hummus leftover, I'm definitely gonna devoured it the next day. It's rare that I eat Persian food but when I do I know it's gonna be good. They do not mess around when it comes to seasoning. Overall, good service, good food, nice decor. I'm looking forward to trying out their seafood kabob the next time I dine in. I also wanna add that this restaurant is on Yelp top 100 for recommendations and I'm not surprised.

It's the kind of spot that works just as well for a casual dinner as it does for a relaxed night out with friends or family. We started off with the lentil soup, which was comforting and flavorful--light yet satisfying, with a nice balance of spices. The hummus was smooth, creamy, and elevated even more by the complimentary fresh bread, which came out warm and perfectly baked--easily one of the highlights of the meal. For mains, the Koobideh Combination stole the show. The kababs were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly, with that classic smoky flavor that makes Persian kabobs so good. Definitely the standout dish and a must-order. The Salmon & Chicken combo was equally impressive--both proteins were tender, nicely grilled, and paired beautifully with the saffron rice and grilled vegetables, giving you a great mix of flavors and textures. We also tried the Soujuk & Cheese Lahmajun, which added a nice twist to the meal. It had a crispy base with rich, savory toppings, and the cheese brought everything together really well--great for sharing. Avesta is a solid go-to for Persian cuisine in Houston. Between the quality of the kababs, fresh bread, and overall flavor, everything hit the mark. Pair that with the great atmosphere and welcoming staff, and it's definitely a place worth coming back to

The bread the veggies that came out were very good. The appetizer sampler we got the eggplant dish, hummus, and yogurt and shallot. The hummus was not our favorite as our other go to Persian places seem to have a smoother texture but the eggplant was good. The yogurt was pretty tangy with light shallot flavor that wasn't super detectable but it was still nice. The koobideh was juicy and the rice and tahdig that came with it was super yummy. I don't love the seasoning for the chicken koobideh but that's just a preference thing nothing was wrong or unpleasant about it. The lamb koobideh was on point. The meat that my SO had was very good as well. Beef was tender. The chicken was tender. The only thing I was confused about was that my SO was supposed to also have tahdig on his rice but didn't receive it, he just got normal rice. My SO didn't tell me until the very end of the meal though so we didn't say anything to them but it was strange to forget that part of the meal. We didn't knock them for that because my SO didn't bring it to their attention and I'm sure they would have fixed it if we told them. Service was very friendly. They kept checking on us and were very polite. The outside of the restaurant is unassuming in a strip mall but the inside is pretty. There are some other Persian places that we prefer but the tahdig and the service and the juiciness of the meat were great here. The hummus was not our favorite though which to us is a big component that we like to eat. 4/5.

Plates filled with extra radishes, feta cheese and herbs. Extra crispy bread fresh out of the oven for my father-in-law. Pouring hot cardamon tea into dainty glass tea cups while we wait for our food. One cube of sugar that lasts several cups. Maybe a little mint added as well. So good. Love the renovation. It looks great. Thanks for the great food and honoring our family's customizations over the years. We will be back again...and again. BTW...If you were wondering, the essay was a winner. She did get accepted to the school that asked about a family tradition.
