The drinks were flowing, and our waitress was top-tier. The sports bar and Grill serves the same food that the restaurant does, but with a more relaxed, vibe music all the time Definitely try the pink basil if you like gin. Everything we ate was delicious. The green tea shot was amazing. Best we had in St Pete Beach. We are locals and decided to venture down to St. Petersburg and visit RumFish Grill. I had been here before while visiting the area, so I was excited to return. I had read in other reviews that parking cost $10, but we weren't charged when we mentioned we were there to dine--definitely a pleasant surprise. On previous visits to the outdoor grill, the menu felt more casual with plenty of handheld options. This time, it seems they've shifted toward a more upscale dining experience. We started with a round of drinks, and everything was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive, even while managing a few larger parties. For dinner, we ordered the 1/2 lb. Smoked Bacon Wagyu Cheeseburger and the Smoked Bacon Caesar with chicken. Both dishes came out just as expected. The garlic aioli added great flavor to the burger, and the fries were incredible--whatever seasoning they use, everyone at the table loved them. The salads were also generously portioned. I was confused by the other reviews. I didn't want to have dinner here because I thought it was a sports bar. There are 2 different sides. The restaurant is separate from the sports bar side. I did dine at both. I stayed at the resort and I'm glad I didn't have to travel far for good food. Chef Jon and his team did a wonderful job. They made my weekend really special. The fish tank is in the Grill/Restaurant is beautiful. I wish we got to sit closer but we still had a good table so that we could watch the fish and stingray. I ordered the seafood pasta and my bf had the whole fried snapper. We had oysters as an appetizer. They were sooo good !!! I enjoyed them with a glass of Sauvignon blanc. We made a reservation a week in advance and asked for a seat as close to the fish tank. It was incredible getting to look at the fish throughout the meal. We did not eat here, but swam in the fish tank. My boys had A LOT of fun and learned a bunch too. We showed up at 8:50, were welcomed by a very attentive and knowledgable individual promptly at 9am. He took us to all 3 of the tanks and explained the rationalization of the tank layout and described each fish. We then went upstairs and saw the holding tank for new or sick fish. After that, it was time for the swim in the tank. Once the last member of the group entered into the tank, the 10 min timer started. This was MORE than enough time for the kids to swim around and see the fish. Some of the fish were pretty curious and checked out the kids too. There was also a life guard up with us ensuring extra safety. It was such a neat experience! After a disappointing experience at a nearby restaurant, we stumbled upon RumFish Grill--and it completely turned our evening around. The best part of my dining experience was watching the fish in their huge fish tank... To start off, how does a server bring out two rolls to a table of eight, five adults and three children, we had to ask for additional bread three times... A shared appetizer of firecracker calamari, came out lightly breaded, limp calamari strips with the breading, hardly adhering to the seafood, with the only discernible flavor being spice nothing else, no salt or pepper or anything other seasoning... Even more disappointing was my chilled seafood Cobb salad, when it came out, I was shocked to see the so-called (lump crab meat) the size and shape of blue cheese crumbles, and small blue cheese crumbles at that, when the server came back out, I asked her if this was in fact, lump crab in which she said it was... The chef came out to bring my wife's seafood Cobb salad's avocado and bacon that was missing from her plate, I asked the chef if this was in fact, lump crab meat he said " yes I only buy lump crab meat"... I have eaten a lot of lump crab meat, at restaurants, and have purchased it many times myself , and this was not lump crab me. In fact it was a watery, poor tasting, crab that actually tasted as if it was frozen, "poached shrimp " tasted old... The old Bay aïoli, was a strange taste, and I was sorry that I ordered extra on the side, which I did not use...A shared order of beef tenderloin cubes were good...Other comments from my cousins; jerk chicken was good, salmon was OK, burgers were OK, spicy seafood linguine, not good, half the entree was left... Food, service, atmosphere, everything was just wonderful here. From the restaurant side, where you typically need a reservation to the grill side where you can just walk in. Everyone's food was delicious and not a single complaint from anyone in the restaurant. Appetizers were equally as delicious. Most recently we stopped in the bar/grill area and even though their menu is more limited, we had an appetizer and some drinks and the food was great here as well. We came to RumFish Grill right after getting engaged on the beach just minutes away--coming all the way from California--so we were really excited for a special dinner. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the worst dining experiences we've had. I do want to start by saying our waitress, Tatum, was the only positive part of this entire experience. She was amazing--attentive, kind, and did everything in her power to help us. She even went out of her way to help us track down our missing keys later. None of what went wrong was her fault, and without her, this could have easily been an even worse experience. That said, everything else fell apart. I ordered a steak and originally added lobster tail, but a manager came by and said they were sold out. I switched to crab legs instead. After ordering, we waited over an hour... only for my crab legs to come out by themselves, with no steak and no one else's food. Then we waited another 30 minutes while other tables who arrived after us were already eating. When we asked what was going on, Tatum apologized and said the food shouldn't have come out yet--so they took my crab legs back. After another 30+ minutes, our food finally arrived, but my crab legs were now cold and had clearly been sitting. I had to ask for a fresh order. On top of that, my steak was supposed to be medium rare and came out extra rare, and the rest of the food at the table was underwhelming. Tatum even told us the kitchen wasn't listening to staff or management, which explained the chaos. To their credit, the manager did comp our meal after everything we dealt with. Unfortunately, it didn't end there. After leaving, we realized our keys were missing. We went back in and searched everywhere for over an hour, asking both staff and management if anyone had seen them--everyone said no. The restaurant had already closed and we were being rushed out while still trying to figure out where our keys were. Finally, after continuing to ask around, someone admitted the keys had been found under our table earlier and were placed in a drawer in the gift shop... without anyone telling us. So while we were stressing and searching for over an hour, the staff actually had our keys the entire time. Again, Tatum was the one who ultimately helped get answers and pushed to resolve the situation--she truly went above and beyond. Between the long waits, disorganized kitchen, poorly executed food, and the situation with our keys, this completely ruined what was supposed to be a special night celebrating our engagement. I would not recommend coming here--there are plenty of better options nearby that won't turn your celebration into a stressful experience. read more

The dining room does have the most incredible fish tanks/aquarium, but it's just a touristy resort on the beach. If you drive up to this resort & park, it's a $10 charge for 4 hours. Dinner and a show. We dined seated next to a huge aquarium and enjoyed the view. This restaurant has a gift shop, an area to view the aquarium and a large restaurant. The restaurant is very casual, run of the mill type place. I had thought it was a nicer restaurant to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Our server was Maranda, and even though I commented on how cute she looked, she really didn't engage much with us. I had a glass of wine and my husband ordered a gin and tonic and we shared the snapper ceviche with large tortilla chips as a starter. The ceviche was fresh and tasty. My husband had the spicy seafood linguine, which had a generous amount of grouper, shrimp and mussels; however there was no spice and it was lacking flavor. I had a hearts of palm salad with avocado and crispy chick peas and grilled shrimp with plantains. The cilantro lime vinaigrette was just OK and I had to struggle with the shrimp to get them off the skewer and finally had to use my fingers. When I made the reservations, I noted it was our 20th anniversary and the hostess said happy anniversary. However our server did not acknowledge it nor do anything special like a complementary dessert. Disappointing. Food was okay, swimming fish entertaining. I wouldn't go back, though. The actual whole resort looks so awesome! We're locals so we just came for the food. But if you are dining at the restaurant, they allow you to park for free which is amazing. All the staff at the restaurant was very kind and attentive. The fish tank was such a cool vibe! I loved looking at it the entire time. Now the food, the rolls they brought out were delicious. For my meal, I got the Scallops which came with asparagus and some rice with corn. The scallops were SO GOOD but the rice was a little overcooked or undercooked because some of it was crunchy and it definitely wasn't supposed to be. I didn't want to bother the waiter with it so I just pushed through and ate the crunch rice, which I was used to because it was like that at my college dining hall all the time Anyway, for the price I expected it to be the best scallops I've ever eaten and I'm sad to say that the rice definitely deducted from the best experience it could have possibly been. The ambiance of this restaurant makes you feel like you are eating at an aquarium in the Bahamas. It is pretty dim lighting to keep the mood and the fish tank provides the majority of the light. However, the experience is worth it! The service here was average. We got our drinks after our appetizer, and dinner took longer than one would hope; however, there was nothing bad or wrong with our meals or drinks. Now the food was fabulous. With fresh fish and seafood pasta, it was super flavorful and it was enough for left overs the next day-- which tasted just as great! We had calamari for an appetizer and it was not the best, but it wasn't bad-- average at best! Anyone that stops in for dinner be sure to check out the fish tank viewing area as well! Our original server was terrible; took us 30 minutes on a slow night with many folks walking around to get menus. Then we placed our order, and he went back to the kitchen and never reappeared. We've enjoyed this place a number of times but got worried when we went this time. They cut the menu back but we were delighted with the quality of food and service. We were a group of 8 with lots of food opinions. We settled on the ceviche, oysters and calamari for the table. Good choices. I drank the ceviche juice and the calamari dips were outstanding. The horseradish with the oysters opened up my nose . The small plates were actually quite big and many of us had them for entrees. The half pound of shrimp was filling, steak kabobs, and other choices were enjoyed. 2 of our friends ordered the chocolate Lava cake for dessert and raved about it. We all had a delightful dinner! The atmosphere is beautiful -- especially the giant aquarium -- and the space itself makes for a fun, unique dining experience. That said, the service left a lot to be desired. It was probably the slowest service I've ever experienced, and there were some frustrating moments. Our server had no idea where the oysters were from -- we heard three completely different answers and decided not to order them. I also ordered the only still rosé listed on the menu, and the wrong bottle was brought to the table twice before they got it right. The server did not pay any attention for drink refills, so we were all pouring our own bottles. The food was decent... I really wanted to go to this restraunt for a special occasion. It's about 2 hours from me so I wanted the guarantee of a reservation. I tried to make this reservation a month in advance to guarantee a tankside table as well. I have called well over 10 times during operating hours in the last 3 weeks, and no one has answered. There are two phone number listed for the restaurant and I tried both of them consistently. Additionally, I filled out the contact form and it's been about a week with no response. My last straw was just now, I went to open table, where the max is 4, and was going to make a reservation for 4 and write in the description it was for 6 but I couldn't get in contact with anyone. Then it says there was a problem reaching the restaurant! Imagine that. If it's no reservation I understand, but the frustrating part is not being able to get in contact with anyone.
