This company has the worst customer service!! It's taken 8 months to finish a $14k water damage claim. I have been battling cancer the entire time and they tell me the crew will be at my home and they either don't show up or are late with ZERO communication!!! I have had to text and call the contractor for information that they should already know about!! I paid this company to make my life easier during the MOST DIFFICULT time of my life and got the WORST service experience of my life!! I had multiple conversations with this contractor regarding the lack of communication and NOTHING changed!!! All I got was excuses that the "crew" didn't tell them they weren't coming or it's not their fault the crew had the wrong address!! I paid this company to be the middle man to handle the communication and timing for me.......i should have just hired my own crews!!!! It would have saved me money and the additional stress!!! Our insurance company chose Repairs Unlimited in the Denver metro area to repair water damage to our home. Repairs were extensive involving two floors. Initial meetings were good and the work progressed very well. The flooring subcontractor was skilled and did good work except for one small detail: there is a stone insert in the kitchen floor which required the wood flooring around it to be beveled down approximately 1/16". This was done on 3, not all 4 sides. We asked that the flooring subcontractor to return and finish the job. Three months later there has been no action. One other detail remaining is that the carpet installers ignored a broken part of the subfloor. Instead of calling attention to the damage and allowing it to be repaired, the subcontractor simply finished installing the carpet and left us to discover two weak spots under the carpet. When we requested the carpet be pulled back, the Repairs Unlimited representative said we would have to pay. He said the insurance company had denied the additional cost of pulling back the carpet to repair the subfloor. I contacted the insurance company which promptly approved paying for an examination of the subfloor. We will see. Repairs Unlimited contacted me to sign/ endorse the final payment check. I said I would gladly sign as soon as the work is complete. There are only two small issues to fix and the job is done. Instead of promptly finishing the job, the Repairs Unlimited representative threatened me with collections and sent a bill showing payment is overdue. This intimidation tells me to advise others that the customer service is non-existent and the business practices are extortionary. All Repairs Unlimited has to do is complete the job, but the company would prefer to threaten the customer. Decide if you want to do business with such a company. read more

I had a tree fall on my home in August of 2021. The insurance portion was just under 60,000 and I added additional money. I am beyond thrilled with the outcome. Cameron Mendez was my project manager. He always returned my calls and kept me informed. If there was something I was not happy with, Cameron would work with me until it was right. Cameron would always have even the smallest workmanship issues addressed. Many I never noticed. He brought them to my attention. Getting materials can take awhile and not everything on any job goes perfectly. He proactively works through issues,does not drop the ball or expect you to adjust your expectations. His subs were friendly, professional and do lovely work. I will be having more work done in the next couple of years and Cameron will be my go to guy. Thank You Repairs Unlimited!!! Our insurance company listed Repairs Unlimited as a recommended provider when we needed to replace the flooring on our first floor due to water damage. Our "project manager" took 6 weeks to get me an estimate, another week to follow up, and was supposed to get back to me about scheduling. Imagine my surprise when I was contacted by the subcontractor two weeks later asking if they could drop off materials that day since they were scheduled to repair my floors the next day. No one had told me our repairs were scheduled! The actual work- disastrous. We had to ask workers to put on masks. We were charged $19 a sq ft for materials that cost $4.99 a sq ft. When they removed trim paint was ripped from the wall. When painters came in to fix the ripped sections we had to ask them to wear masks. They did touch up paint on a few walls, but charged as if they had painted the entire first floor of our house. They painters took two pieces of trim with them, which were never returned. When they sent in a third crew to fix the back of our kitchen island they wore masks. They replaced the missing trim and painted it the WRONG color. Obviously wrong. Not even kind of close. And then they didn't say anything about it. They also managed to get paint on our new floors. Bottom Line: We were grossly over-charged, but some prices were adjusted when it was pointed out. Though the charge of $200 to move our toilet to put flooring underneath it stands. Poor communication from our project manager throughout. The repairs needed repairs. They damaged the flooring they installed. Would not recommend. read more

One year later the work is still not done and they turned me into collections for the $2,000 deductible. I told them I'd be more than happy to pay the balance as soon as the work is done. In 2007, we suffered a complete housefire at our home, leading to an entire reconstruction project. This occurred in Overland Park. Completed in 2008, this has been a running list of problems ever since. In the time since the work was done, here is how it has turned out: * Deck had to be replaced at significant cost. Wrong spacing was used and underboards were never treated leading to rot and warping. * Front porch had awning done incorrectly, which hasn't been fixed as of yet but still presents an issue we will repair this year. * Windows were installed without flashing.and as a result, several leak from the top and will have to be replaced this year - again, significant cost. * Paint swirls and flooring issues. * HVAC installed by company that refused to respond after 6 months. Despite paying a significant ($10k) premium to get highly efficient furnace/air, the response time from installer has been non-existent and the performance has been poor at best. In the end, this is a project that between Insurance and out of pocket expense more than $240,000 was spent. Let's just say, it was a TERRIBLE investment and I wish now I had gone to almost any other provider. Repairs Unlimited was pushed on us by our insurance agent, and the results now will take us years of costly repair - on NEW CONSTRUCTION to recover from. NOT recommended in any way. I had a fire in my townhome in May 2011. I must say, the event has been the single most devastating event in my entire life. The rainbow has been my 2yr old daughter and I are safe. Our home was not a total loss and the damages were limited to the basement and part of the first floor. I was fortunate to have my personal belongings covered by insurance as many of my neighbors aren't. My townhome is a co-op in which its members own shares. The co-op was responsible for the structural repairs so I had no involvement in selecting the company that would make the repairs to my home. The Project Manager, Brandon Smith, puts on a good front of professional expertise. But trust me when I tell you, it's all facade! I had a bad feeling as soon as his work crew showed up. The first clue was when the workers arrived with their kids. On the day of the fire, in the middle of my devastation and when the parents "workers" were supposed to be securing my home, their kids were raiding my burned out kitchen for boxes of cereal and my toddler's fruit snacks that had been strewn about when the fire department chopped my cupboards down with axes. To add insult to injury, the workers idea of securing my home failed. When I arrived at my home the next day, I'd been burglarized. All of my electronics that I felt so fortunate not to have lost in the fire were gone. The next clue that my dealings with this company were not going to be good was with Brandon's original repair timeline estimate of 6 weeks. It ended up being 4 months before I could move back into my home. Even after all that time, my home still wasn't livable. No hot water, no heat, leaking pipes, unlevel floors, missing floor vent covers, missing screens on windows, I could go on and on. Substandard work, plain and simple. And oh, did I tell you how they raided my custom bathroom on the second floor of its fixtures? Well let me tell you, that story is too long for this venue. I'll sum it up to say it cost me $4,500 to fix Repairs Unlimited damages to my bathroom. Today, a month after they supposedly completed their work, a "worker" showed up with some of the missing screens for my windows. Again, with a child in tow. 10 o'clock in the morning, I asked the little girl if today was a school holiday. She replied "I'm home schooled". I thought, "No Sweetie, this is called on the job training". So, the saga continues. I've had to hire an attorney to recoup my losses on my bathroom. Brandon Smith, the project manager, told me they wouldn't fix their substandard work that left me with an unlevel kitchen floor that causes my refrigerator to rock. He said "Stick a board under it and live with it". Well Mr. Smith, we'll see who has to live with what. read more

We got to choose our own cabinets, flooring material and color, paint colors inside and outside. At the beginning of the summer we discovered a leak coming up from the wood floors in our living room. After contacting my home owners insurance, USAA. They started the claim and then told me a contractor would reach out to me to start the repair process once the house was dry. Cameron from Repairs Unlimited called me, in what felt like minutes, after USAA set up the work order. Being our first claim through our home owners insurance, I was lost. Through out the whole process Cameron was there to answer any questions or concerns I had. The damage to our house was far worse then what we expected. Waiting for insurance to approve every little thing took up a lot of time. Cameron reassured us that once everything had been approved the repairs would be done asap. They ended up replacing flooring through out the whole house minus our two bathrooms. Repairs did their best to work with the budget USAA gave them and we ended up with wood flooring that looks 100% better than what we originally had. Repairs was also able to get us a great deal on beautiful new kitchen tile. The lower kitchen cabinets we destroyed and the cabinet company was not able to match the finish to the upper cabinets. Cameron made the necessary phone calls and submitted everything we needed to have USAA replace all our kitchen cabinets. Though dealing with the insurance took up a great deal of time once Repairs had the proper authorizations the remodel was done in no time. We will definitely be using Repairs Unlimited for our future home improvements. Cameron was nice enough to get a few quotes put together on some other home repairs we'd like to tackle in the next year. January 2019 I had an incident (break-in, fire started, water line melted, flooded basement, and smoke damage) and was out of my home for 5 months. The company that responded to the fire department's request to secure the building (doors and windows knocked out by fire department and police department) and was given a business card of their home repair business. Without doing any research I selected Repairs Unlimited, Inc. to work with my insurance company. It has been 16 months I've been back in my home and just now able to write about the problems. Don't get me wrong, the contractor that was assigned to me was very nice and walked me through the process but the quality of work his crew did on the repairs was done very poorly. The contractor even said many times, "if I was doing the work I would have done it differently" but yet he signed off on his crew's work. There were some upgrades I requested and paid for but either the installation or quality of product was poor and down right cheap material. The punch list to too long to list but for example a couple of things: installed a ceiling fan (at my cost) but didn't secure it to the ceiling joist so after using it for 3 months (May, June, July 2019) it wobbled so much and is no longer mounted to the ceiling. The paint job is sloppy with paint on woodwork, shower stall and tile floor. Plus, they painted over my light switches and duplex plugins instead of removing the cover plates or taping them off and also spray painted the vintage ceiling light fixture in my bedroom instead of removing it and then when I complained about it, instead of removing the paint from the fixture, they replaced it with a $9.99 fixture, even though the fixtures I had selected for the living room, dining room and kitchen at my own expense were of nice quality. I have a small galley style kitchen and selected a ceiling mounted light that would run the length of the kitchen, instead they installed it perpendicular plus the upper cupboard can't be open because it smacks the fixture. There are so many other items from the plumbing, electrical, carpet laying I can't begin to list everything. I just know I learned a valuable lesson, ask for references! The person he hired to sand and stain my floors did a wonderful job even though the contractor told me not to do hard wood floors because he thought they were too ugly and damaged. read more

This company works for the insurance company NOT you. They hire guys from craigs list to do poor quality work and very slowly. Our house sat vacant for months after our fire waiting for them to get started. They rarely showed up, and when they did the work was ridiculous. The contractors they hired for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing were great. But they had two guys try to fix EVERYTHING else in my house. Now I have crooked walls and paint on the floors and ceilings. Everything was reworked, but still turned out less than mediocre. They were NEVER on schedule. read more

I just got off of the phone with a gentleman (not necessarily gentle) and after explaining my situation he refused my business. I have a water damaged kitchen from upstairs leaking issues. The insurance paid some upfront and we're responsible for buying materials to release the rest. He said it sounded like a difficult situation and told me the insurance company was responsible for the breakdown of costs. I told him that we have the money to do the job and we would pay for materials. He then refused my business based on the fact that the situation seemed too complicated for him. What's complicated? I have the funds and need the work done! I should've known based on these reviews. ***There was NO miscommunication issue. I told the employee I had the funds available NOW and explained I would like the same work done as advertised and he refused my business. Sounds like discrimination to me. I see many of these reviews are fairly old so I thought I'd share my recent experience. Working with Repairs Unlimited was great. I can't speak highly enough about our project manager Cameron. He was on top of every detail, very responsive, empathetic. By the end, he felt like a friend! We had water damage and ServePro was out right away to dry things out. Yes it was a huge pain, but they did what they could to make it livable. After that we had all the drywall and paint work which was done high quality. Then lastly were the floors. They referred us to Schembri Flooring who did a great job. Helped us pick a custom color. There was a little more dust then I was expected when we came back, but I think that's what happens when you have your floors redone. I should have packed up more of my stuff! Cameron was there every step of the way, staying on top of things, and made sure we were completely satisfied. His manager called mid way through to check on things too which was a nice touch. i have intentionally waited to write my review for 3 months after moving back into our home so l could see how things went. we are so very happy that we chose RUI to rebuild our home! the fire actually wiped out the kitchen and the back deck, but the smoke ruined every other part of our home. we were devastated and had no idea where to even begin after the flames were put out. Sean came out with people to board up our home and protect what was left. my wife talked to Sean all of about 5-10 minutes, then came to me and said she wanted his company to rebuild our home! i was skeptical to say the least, but after talking with him and seeing him in action helping us with immediate needs and problems, i began to think my wife might be right. after all, she most usually is. i say this after 20 plus years of marriage.
