The remediation professionals were quick, helpful, and knowledgeable. Because of this positive first impression, we decided to continue working with them to rebuild our basement (new floors, dry wall, etc.). Every step of the process since then has been like pulling teeth. The lead contractor is completely absent, he doesn't return calls for over a week at a time and the only reason we ever hear from him is when we call the main company line and they prod him to return our calls. We go a weeks at a time between steps forward. We've never been given a timeline or any sense of how long this will continue. It's been 3 MONTHS since our basement flooded. The remediation took less than a week, but we're still waiting to make ANY progress with the rebuild team. I would never recommend this company to anyone for rebuild services. They have been unhelpful, unprofessional, and overall a huge disappointment. Edit for more context: In all honestly, I originally typed out this review ever a year ago. I didn't submit it to yelp because I worried I was too close to the experience to fairly rate the services. After a year of reflection, I stand by my words above. Zero Stars... After a major rain storm in the area, we woke…read moreup to our basement flooded. We called ServPro and they said they would be right out. It took several hours but one employee showed up late that evening. He explained that he could have a crew come out over night to start the cleanup. To keep from being charged "off hour" fees, I told him to hold off until the morning and he said they would be out at 8am. We asked for an estimate of how much the cleanup would cost. He stated it would be between $2000-$5000. I asked if he could be more precise. He said it was hard to say, but he estimated that it would be closer to the $2000 level. Workers didn't show up until around 5pm the next 2 days even after giving an 8am estimated start time. We asked 2 or 3 more times for an estimate on the cost. Each time, they repeated the $2000-$5000 range, but closer to the $2000. We called, and the office workers explained that the crew chief would be better to estimate it. After the 2 days of cleanup, they left their machines for a few more days and stopped by once a day to check their meters. I asked for the total bill and they still didn't know. I called 2 or 3 more times and was told they were still "working on" the bill. After 2 weeks, we received a bill of over $12,000. The bill and 330 pages of supporting documents arrived in an email. It took them more time to create the bill than they spent working in my house. How can that be?!?! How can they be that far off in their estimate? When I called and spoke to the management, they said I should have asked for an estimate first. We did. He said we shouldn't have asked the workers for an estimate. How were we to know that? If you send an employee out to my house, he is your representative. Unless he says otherwise, he is authorized to give estimates. ServPro manager says they won't change the bill.

The Power Dry team is very professional, knowledgeable and seem to be good people. However, the way…read morethey compartmentalize their service makes it very difficult to really get a sense of how much you are going to spend as each step is a new escalation. The particular step that I felt was unfair was concerning mold. In one room they wanted to do mold mitigation, but no one could show me where any mold was, and no one had done any testing yet. Eventually they just did a mitigation and that conversation ended. The second place where there was some visible mold I was told that the testing indicated the level of mold was elevated and was concerning. I trusted his evaluation but did say I wanted to see the report anyway. He said he would send it when it was available--which ended up being after the mitigation was complete. The report actually said it was only barely elevated. The younger guy doing the work told us he couldn't hardly see any mold other than what was initially visible. I might not understand everything about mold but I do believe I was overcharged and mislead about the actual level of need. And they charged me $4000 for this and $600 for the testing... plus $3000 for the air drying, and likely $3000 for the reconstruction. As well as, no one explained to me in the beginning that the service was so compartmentalized. So I pay for the drying. I pay for the mold. And I pay for them to come back and reconstruct the bathroom they tore apart. Yet, they don't come back and move all the garage items back where they went, after they moved it for mold mitigation. I didn't leave this commercial exchange feeling very good about what happened even as they were nice guys. I don't think they are a bad company but I say be super wary and make sure they tell you about all the pricing that will come, and get second opinions. This was just disappointing.

They fixed it in a timely manner and everything seemed to be as expected until we found that him and his crew had built the wall crushing one of her electricity lines causing her to lose power to 75% of the house. My mom is 86, and every time she had him help her, he would give her a price and by the time he was done, he had charged her triple than what he quoted her. We had used Melvin for a couple other jobs, fixing my mom's car and working on the water line in the basement. When he worked on the water line, he quoted her $1200. She told him she is on a fixed income and she could not spend more than $900. Melvin said ok and continued the work. When he was finished he came up and handed my mom a bill for $1700. My mom told him she didn't have that and he told her to take out a heloc loan On her home. He then texted her every week moving forward with an arrow and the total amount of $1700 circled. He was harassing her. When we found out about the electricity, We called Melvin because he promised us, he guarantees all of his work for life. We had told him that we had 3 other companies come out to test for the electricity and we had been shown 3 times it was crushed under the wall and the only lights that worked in my moms house were in the bedroom. It cost $5000 to fix it and Melvin told us he did not want to do the work, hire one of the companies and he would split it with my mom. My mom is 86 years old. This was in February. After calling Melvin every week for 3 months, he finally called my mom in May and paid her $1115. Still to this day, he has not paid her the other $1115 that he owes her. My mom is the sweetest lady and she has really struggled financially trying to stay in her home until she dies, and this man took such advantage of her, after he sat and prayed with her telling her she was family. This is a scam particularly on older people who don't have any idea what truly needs to be fixed. I would not trust him or recommend this company to anyone.

He looked the situation over closely and told me what I needed and gave me the name of a company that does that type of work. My neighbor asked for his opinion on her situation and he said her guttering was too small for the volume of water. He sent a crew out four days later and completed the job for her. One of the crew members noticed something had been done wrong by another company when he got up on the roof. She is going to have Eldon and Sons correct that before it becomes a bigger issue. I also had two replacement windows go bad. I called Jerry at Eldon and Sons and he ordered the replacements which were installed the day they did my neighbor's guttering job. No charge. No hassle. They were glad to take care of the problem. If all businesses related to construction and otherwise did business the way Eldon and Sons does, there would be a lot more happy homeowners. Too often I hear nightmare stories about home repair companies and I cringe. I never hestitate to refer anyone to Eldon and Sons. That includes my fellow yelpers!
