I was very impressed with Mark's knowledge and his workmanship. He was professional, courteous and dedicated to my restoration project. The 2nd company found a brand new roll of Duck Tape in tge vents that was about 40 years old, along with trashy build up, a few nails and other objects...showing they indeed had not cleaned my vents. my carpets lifted on the edges, not in just 1 room, but all rooms. Tcompany he subbed to for my LVP, could not speak any English and nit 1 time was a leader or manager there to oversee the work being done. 1-800-water did not know any of these guys. when 1800 came to shampoo my carpets they moved all furniture out of my livingroom and pinned my husband in his wheel chair in tge dining room, with a 5 x fractured back and 3 broken ribs. I found him pinned in for over 9 hours when I got home. pathetic, and would never use this guy / 1-800-water damage out of Trimble Mo. only 5 minutes from my home. I never recieved a refund on "their guaranteed work", I have 3 years to bring legal action and most likely will. Owner David, made every excuse in the book to quantify his work. As soon as we had the furniture moved after the heavy rains of July 16-17 got into our basement, I called AFC Cleaning & Restoration (Thursday) and told them I needed to have the water removed from my carpet. They had good online reviews. Robert arrived at 6:00 PM and started talking about tearing out the walls and carpet. I told him I wanted to try to save the carpet, as it wasn't that old and that the water came in through the window, not the foundation. He agreed to do that and then brought in fans and a dehumidifier. "Aren't you going to remove the water?" I asked. He said he was just going to set up fans and would be back. He assured me that if there was air movement, no mold would grow for three days. I texted him on Friday at 1:37 asking when he was going to work in our basement. I did not hear back from him until 10:36 that night when he said he could arrive between 10:30 and 11:30 on Saturday morning, would I be available. I did not see the text until 9:30 the next morning. "Yes, please" was my answer. A young couple showed up in a rusty pickup truck and said they were here to take out the pad. They had nothing to extract the water. They turned the fans to the inside of the room rather than to the edge where the carpet was the wettest. I texted Robert at 11:48 and told him the pad was out, but they put the wet carpet up against the baseboards and it was beginning to smell. I didn't hear a thing from him that day. I set the edge of the carpet up on plastic bins to get it off the baseboards and help get more air to it. On Sunday at 3:00 PM he texted me and asked me if he could swing by and take readings. Not expecting to hear from him on Sunday, I didn't see the message until 5:00 and responded "readings of what"? His response at 6:48 was "It's okay. Are you available tomorrow?" My response was "Yes, I need a time, though. I need someone to clean and sanitize the carpet and get it dried. It now smells. Readings of what?" I could have told him it was still very wet. His response "I'm not done drying it yet. It will start to smell better as it dries. I will also spray an anti Microbial spray." "So, you are never planning to vacuum the water out of the carpet - the one thing I asked for on Thursday?" His response "It gets cleaned after it's dry and the pad is replaced." Robert came by on Monday, but the carpet was still wet. He returned on Tuesday. The carpet was dry, five full days after the flood, and he sprayed microbial spray. When he was done, I mentioned that it still smelled and that I was unhappy he never extracted the water. "Oh, now that I'm done, you complain" was his reply. I was explaining that I had asked for the water to be extracted on Thursday and continuously through the process, but he just talked louder over me when I spoke. I told him that if he knew he couldn't extract the water, he should have told me at the beginning. He said it would have taken his crew longer to extract the water than using fans (no doubt). I reiterated that if they didn't have the crew available, they should have advised me in the first instance. He was frustrating me, so I told him to leave. I called the office the next morning and without identifying myself asked what they would do if someone had water in their finished basement that came up around their shoes. She proudly stated that they would first extract the water from the carpet. I said "Good, and how do you do that?" She explained that they have big machines that extract the water and remove it. I told her my name and that they did not do that in my basement. She agreed to send the manager to determine if the work done at my house was representative of their work product. A nice enough man named Joe came by and told me he didn't smell anything but carpet glue that had been made wet by the flood. On all other matters he agreed with me, but had no authority to do anything about it. He said he'd have the owner come by. The owner showed up and said all he smelled was acetate from the carpet. It was clear that his goal was to blame me. He said they didn't follow IICRC standards, because I asked them to try to save the carpet. I said, "So, you didn't follow your own standards, but you blame me?". He said "Yes". Yet, he didn't do what I asked him to do. I told him the young couple put the very wet carpet up against the baseboards and he said that wouldn't matter. I told him I asked for the water to be extracted several times, and he told me that using the fans was extracting the water. I disagreed. Not a single google search defines extracting water as using fans. Fans are the next step after extracting the water. I told him if he couldn't extract the water, they should have told me from the beginning, so I could have called someone else. He got up and left. What do they want for fans? $3000.

Technician Jared arrived in a very timely manner. His personal demeanor was very respectful and he was "cleancut". He did not nickel and dime me for each spot. Gave me the quote and took care of it. I asked if there was deoderizer (smoke smell) and he mentioned there is a remediation treatment that can be used to not mask the odor, but eliminate it. I clean the lint trap after every use but dust and pet hair still gets through it and builds up. They were courteous and professional, thorough, cleaned the space up afterward and reconnected everything and put it all back into place. A staff member visited, counted all the vents and intakes, and explained that we had more vents than expected for a home our size, which increased the price. I appreciated the transparency there. Before scheduling, I asked how long the job would take. I was told two hours. The day of service was where the problems began. Two Steamatic employees arrived at 9 a.m. They explained they needed to set up a large vacuum system in the basement. Unfortunately, this equipment required more power than anticipated, and it took nearly two hours just to find an outlet configuration that would work. Once they began cleaning, the process took much longer than the original estimate - they finished at 4:30 p.m. That's a seven-and-a-half-hour job, not the two hours I had been told. I contacted Steamatic to express my frustration. To their credit, the company responded quickly: a supervisor came out several days later to inspect the work and found several issues, including dust on walls and ceilings, vents missing screws, and others not secured properly. Within a few hours, a second crew was sent to correct everything. Steamatic ultimately made things right. I received a revised invoice with a $177 discount, which I appreciated, and a VP called me personally to understand what happened. The supervisor also explained that the job should have been estimated at five hours - not two. One final note: no matter how careful the team is, vent cleaning does create some dust in the home. My usually guys are really backed up so I called premier as an alternative. Premier has worked on 4 houses of mine in the last 6 months. Communication with this company is horrible and "the customer is right" doesn't imply with premier. I have a commercial building in Oak Grove that I'm still waiting on a roof replacement bid. I've reached out to them 4 different times with 4 no call no shows. I recently had their Gutter install walk off the job claiming I needed to have facia replace before he could put on the gutters. Then told premier I canceled not the other way around. Ever other gutter company I've worked with would have replaced the damage and finished the job same day. I'm holding I get my money back. Yes... with premier you have to put half down before they show up. Not the case with most companies. My experience with this company is been really shaky. Tyson is a really nice guy that just doesn't follow though with his promises. Even for a customer that has paid for 62 gutter jobs in the last 5 years. I could only imagine what they would be like for just a "fix my house, my only house" type of customer.

They decided to wait and repair everything at one time when the new shutters came in. There were some ordering issues with the shutters so the job was delayed to the point I was discouraged and decided to move on to another company. After expressing my dissatisfaction, Ben agreed to come out and replace the missing shingles a few days later. I was very concerned with the lack of communication, but really wanted the roof repaired. Updated: Here we are almost 2 months later. My old shutters were removed by Ben so he could take them into the shop and have the correct size ordered. I haven't heard back from them, so I will look at ordering some new shutters from someone else. My roof also leaked from the storm we had on the 4th of July weekend. It could be from new damage, although the storm wasn't very strong. It could also be water damage from leakage when it took over a month to get a few shingles replaced or from shoddy replacement. Regardless, I am going to seek out a professional roofing company to make the new repairs.

We had a raccoon tear a hole in our chimney. Water got in and pretty quickly wrecked the stack, the…read moreroof, and the flue. It was a huge job. But it was amazing how difficult it was to find someone to even give us a quote. The chimney is 'Pre-fab', so there's no actual stone or brick, just a flue surrounded by the stack. This is apparently a no-no in the chimney contractor world. Of the 15 companies I contacted, only three gave us a quote. The rest referred us to general contractors (which insurance wasn't allowing). And the ones who did come out wouldn't even quote a full replacement, they suggested we rip the stack off, roof over it and call it a day ($12K to not even have a working fireplace anymore!) Enter the saviors at Sleep Easy Chimney. They were the only company that gave me a quote for an actual rebuild at a reasonable price that insurance could get behind. The construction process was a breeze. Every guy on the crew was great. They were very communicative to any options we had (trim, stone type, stove, etc). They didn't even mind our enormous, spastic dog jumping on them at every opportunity. And we upgraded to a stove that looks amazing. Can't wait for winter so we can break this thing in!
