Was super good and the staff is really friendly. Went in with my great grandma, grandma, and mom. Gram grams is 108 this year whoop whoop and she loved the food! I got the Costillas De Res en BBQ and it was so good. Perfectly good! Was a little nice to have the meat fall of the bone but not be so overcooked that it fell right off. I had not eaten all day and this carried me over until the next day! It was perfect! The restaurant is clean and because of covid times you have to wear a mask and obide by the rules but of course when you eat the mask can come off. 10/10 would recommend! Needless to say we clomplained right away and the manager could care less they did not replace the plate and on top of that they charges us for it. When I go south of the border, I want the real deal. A Mexican restaurant in Mexico serving pancakes and eggs and hamburgers is a sure sign that you are in the wrong place. What we had wasn't so bad, but I've had much better. It was very disappointing. My partner had grilled chicken and veggies and says the chicken was great. The rest of the food was lackluster. I had mediocre chips and mild pico. The chips were missing something.....again the food was blah, but the service was nice and friendly. The smells coming from the grill out front are deceiving.....unless you actually have the chicken that they are grilling. If you are traveling from the U.S. and want the old familiar give this place a try. But if you want to kick it up a notch with food and flavor, this ain't it. read more

We went to Ruedo for my Mom's birthday on February 2nd 2020. Needles to say my Mom's birthday lunch was ruined. Party of 3 My brother asked for a burger well done The meat tasted BAD!! the Ham too. Some sour taste. Basically you couldn't taste the meat. SOMETHING WAS DEFINITELY WRONG. We told the server. And ask to speak with the manager. Manager ignored the table for 20 min. Until we requested to speak with him again. When we told the manager about the taste of the burger ( 3/4left in plate) he got very defensive. And responded " We use Costco meat and is refrigerated" I assured you the meat is not bad. All we wanted was to make him aware just so another customer won't get sick This Manager has NO CLUE of serving food SAFE for his customer He did not seem to know all food has expiration He wanted us to take his word for it Just because MEAT IS FROM COSTCO AND IS REFRIGERATED I will not recommended this place nor returned ever. This gringo loves Ruedo! I have been in Las Playas for 4 days, and I have eaten here 4 times. (Not every day...I ate here twice one day and then skipped a day...) but seriously the food and atmosphere are great. I have eaten a few things here, but my favorite is the Chorizo con Papas y Huevos. They'll ask if you want the chorizo "res" or "español." I like the español, as it's a little spicier. The "res" is beef sausage. The waitstaff are wonderful, and most speak at least a little English. (There is one I had who is fluent in English, but I didn't get his name! I will most likely be back again before I leave tomorrow...so I'll try to get it for you! **UPDATE: my wonderful English-speaking server is named "Antonio" or just "Tony.") But maybe use it as an opportunity to try out your Spanish too; they're all patient and will be happy you're trying. The fresh squeezed orange juice is amazing as well, and they also have a full bar. Ok so the food was good - what we actually got to eat. :(. We were starving they said it was an hour wait so we sat in their cozy little bar and had some beers... We willingly waited half an hour till 1:00 for the lunch menu... But the food we ordered never came! We reminded the waitress and it took them another 30 minutes to get our cheese appetizer. So my wife and I had dinner here tonight and it was horrible! From the food to the waiter! The waiter never asked if we wanted soup or salad, so we had to tell him! We chose the salad which seemed like it was 3 days old! Yellow and dull salad with some soggy croutons. Then our waiter ask for our drinks and then ask what we are going to be eating, I told him I needed a few more minutes and instead of leaving and coming back, he stood there with his pen and notepad waiting for us to make up our mind! Beautiful "al fresco" restaurant, but the food is not very good. I had the enchiladas rojas with cheese and I was not impressed, my mom's are so much yummier (duh), the were served with beans... yea where is the rice? Topped with lots of sour cream, lettuce and sliced tomato...beautifully presented, but the taste was nothing to write home about. The margaritas.... that is a different story... five stars, best margaritas I have ever had thus far! I would go back just for the amazing margaritas! If a restaurant looks too fancy dancy in Mexico, avoid it, they are trying too hard. I would have much rather had eaten at a taco stand. :( My sister got the aranchera steak medium... well they didn't sear it, the steak looked so pale and ugly not appetizing at all. People you need to heat your grill, pan or whatever your are using to grill this steak, very well.. make sure it gets some type of quick chard do not move, flip after about 4 minutes and do the same, should be chard from the outside and red from the inside... totally not appetizing.... read more

Came here hoping for a great grilled steak. No such luck. Starting with the bland Pico de Gallo and store bought chips I started to have my doubts. I debated between the filet mignon and the rib eye, opted for the rib eye because it was marked with three stars, so I assumed it was a house specialty. What I was served was a gray slab of meat that had so much moisture on it I wondered if it was steamed. Definitely didn't inspire confidence, so opted to try out the sautéed onion side to start. The blandness was completely unexpected. I dint understand how you can so completely rob onions of flavor, but they found a way. So with that bit of disappointment I really had no illusions when cut into the steak. As soon as I started having to vigorously saw my way into my first chunk I knew it was going to be a sad experience. I can't recall a tougher, chewier more lackluster and inedible cut of meat. I've had far better steaks at Denny's and cheap diners. In the end, two bites of onions, some chips and salsa, a beer and a tequila shot plus gratuity set me back 300 pesos and I still had to go buy dinner elsewhere read more
