I love El Yogurt Place! I went here for the first time last month, and I just HAD to come back when we were back in town - and not just for the gatito! :) If you haven't been before, it is near the coastline in Playas de Tijuana. There's parking around the corner, but if it's busy, it'll be hard to grab a spot. Worth looking around for parking though! We went on a busy Sunday morning where we waited about 25 minutes, which was not a problem because there was plenty of wait seating and the store to keep you busy! Every seat is met with exquisite natural lighting, and we were seated next to a window, so it was even more bright! The restaurant itself is very home-like, bringing bright colors with dark wood details all around. There's also a cute fountain outside, and a shop cat to keep you company (el gatito!!). The menu is large with many options, and as you can see, it's a little bit on the pricer side for the area. However, I'll argue that it's well worth the money! When we were seated, we got the complimentary toast with butter and pumpkin jam, which is always a treat! We ordered a few mains for our family: chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, enchiladas and French toast (see photos). All were made with love and tasted homemade! The best part - and the reason why I begged to come back was for the fruit salad with frozen yogurt ice cream! DO NOT SKIP THIS!!! It is the BEST thing on the menu! I don't know why there's any negative reviews. I continue to come to this restaurant and always have great food. Great customer service great coffee, great desserts, great atmosphere very natural spiritual vibe of this restaurant. I would highly recommend it and I will continue to go here. This place is more for the healthier food environment. If you're not into healthier food, don't come here. The time is a little long because people want to wait for specific tables that are around the outside environment with the hummingbirds and the nature scenery so don't complain if you're waiting for a specific table and it's taking them long I feel the food is fairly priced decent for the quality of food and I never had any issue with it so there should be really no complaints about the length of time waiting for the table or if the food is bland or not your liking this is more of a healthy food environment and they are very busy. It is a very busy environment so give the waitress and the servers better consideration before you complain, I will be returning again as always. read more

This place has a cute entrance courtyard. As you walk in, it has a diner bar on the right and an organic shop on the left. The view overlooking the US-Mexico Border is the only thing I appreciated about this place, sad to say. The food was bland and flavorless not to mention overpriced. I didn't bother to take photos. The service was not great. The busboy helped us out more than the actual waiter. We returned one plate and cancelled a surprise cake we had ordered at the right when we arrived. Across the street is the plaza de toros or bullring. The malecón or boardwalk is walking distance from here. Remember, don't go in the water in Playas lol. read more

Take it from an actual vegetarian: go elsewhere for vegetarian and vegan options. Not only are they very limited, the ones we got were not good at all. My husband and I were with a group so we ordered food to-go since we were heading to an all seafood place down the road. We decided to share the sunflower burger (hamburguesa de girasol) and garlic mushrooms with beans (hongos al ajo). I was super hungry by the time we sat down to eat. The burger looked nice but tasted really bland with a weird, mushy texture. It was like eating a flavorless mush patty that tasted vaguely of peanut butter. I ended up dousing it in hot sauce just to make it palatable. The accompanying side salad was okay and actually the best part of the meal. The mushrooms were an even greater disappointment. I was shocked when I opened the take out container to find the whole thing literally FILLED with just mushrooms. Who in the world would eat this? And for 140 pesos?? Come on! The mushrooms were a bit oily but very bland. Time for more hot sauce. And the beans on the side were the same. Um, could I get another bottle of hot sauce? Not only was this food expensive, it was awful and such a disappointment. The view from the restaurant is nice and the servers were pleasant. I had a handful of friends recommending I come dine at El Yogurt Place as they know I am a Tijuana regular. A friend and I were doing a beach day in Tijuana and so we thought it was the perfect time to try it out. I thought it was interesting that there was a little store right near the entrance selling honey, jams, candles, etc. My friend and I were seated rather quickly and given menus. As it was around 11:30 we decided to narrow down on breakfast items and I must say I am glad that we did. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and they were delicious. They come with a chunk of avocado. Bread and butter are also brought to your table. The service was great and I could not think of anyway for it to improve. What was so unique about this diner is that our table had a view of the US-Mexico border. My only disappointment was the Huevos Rancheros were so small. I think they only had two eggs and unlike Mexican dishes in the US there were no beans. I highly recommend you check out El Yogurt Place if you are coming to the beach in Tijuana. read more

The food is healthy, fresh and everyone was friendly. The architecture of the building is beautiful and the grounds are well landscaped with hummingbirds, butterflies and a cat. Vegetarians: don't get excited about this place. My wife and I shared the Sunflower Seed Sun Burger and the Fresh Mushrooms that we ordered off of the vegetarian menu. We placed a to-go order. Our disappointment was instant the moment we opened our containers. The fresh mushrooms were just that: mushrooms with garlic and parsley, for which we were charged 140 pesos! We asked for beans on the side. They were tasteless and watery. The burger was bland and came with a mediocre salad. My wife thought the burger tasted like peanut butter, but peanut butter actually has flavor. We were also charged 16 pesos for takeout (sorry, I don't know if this is common practice). Service was slow, but friendly. Our server spoke English, but was a little confused by our order. I now know why. Vegans: steer clear. I would imagine that omnivores would probably find something here to their liking. If you're looking for vegetarian food in this area, try La Veggicheria. read more

Lots of "waiting" space just in case they are super busy. Wait time was responsible and the staff was attentive. Couldn't decide on what to pick so me and my fiancé split the tortilla soup and turkey sandwich. AMAZING!! Glad we chose these items. I did take a bit of my friends tuna/avocado and enchilada and I would so buy those next time! We also orders a strawberry and banana juice mix and wasn't disappointed. One very super minor issue was we asked for ice water and was served warm water no ice. **negative: parking is terrible! But pretty much all over Tijuana it's terrible so it was expected! We have come here with friends and family 5 times this past year hahaha I wrote a blog about it but I'd like to touch on some star points here. https://bajadaytours.wordpress.com/2017/05/08/dining-spotlight-el-yogurt-place/ Parking is a little... interesting. It's a one way road with parking spaces to the right hand side and a parking lot that is sometimes open, sometimes not. Huge plus, there is a security guard/attendant that walks around and makes sure no one breaks into your car while you're having breakfast. Make sure to tip him before you leave! There are two small curios right outside of the establishment for any touristy gifts. The inside of the restaurant is Instagram worthy with tons of nostalgic/antique wares. There is a whole case of old cameras and a section of the cafe with old phones. There are hummingbirds that sit on feeders outside of the windows that face out over the Tijuana river basin. There is a wait! This place is so popular and for good reasons. I would recommend calling ahead for reservations (they only accept day of) and you cut your wait time in at least half. Which is really not a big deal because you can go into their natural foods shop and check out some dried fruits, nuts, honey, bee pollen, etc. They sell their pumpkin spread here! I don't know about other people, but I can't not get the chilaquiles verde. I always forget to ask them to add some eggs, but I'm always so full when I eat here that I don't ever mind. They always come out with complimentary toast and squash/pumpkin spread. Very mildly flavored and sweet. No spices inside, much more natural. You also get a choice of orange juice or grapefruit juice AND coffee with main entrees. This isn't boxed juice so I highly recommend having their freshly made juices. Also hard not to get, the avocado with tuna. The tuna is fresh and not covered in mayonnaise like in the states and they also do not salt this dish. HUGE avocados and portions and can definitely be shared among 3-4 people. Topped with carrots and sprouts. Super fresh and delicious. I ordered their tortilla soup the last time I came but was a little disappointed. It came out cold and all the tortilla was soggy or stale. I asked them for another one that was hot but it still came out kind of lukewarm. I just gave up on it at that point. Although this is the kind of place you want to take a large group of people, I did notice that their service definitely waned when there were too many people for them to serve. (we once had a group of 13) I would suggest smaller groups and again, definitely make reservations in the morning. With full stomachs and spending less than $10 per person, still my favorite breakfast spot in Mexico. *We've taken many of our friends here but the group of 13 did ask if they served alcohol which they do not. This is a natural food, homey restaurant. No mimosas or bloody mary here. Just good food with good people. read more

The round dining room windows overlook a canyon teeming with humming birds and other wild life. Everything we ordered was tasty and well prepared. Everyone was kind. They have English menus available. The cooler is great. Our family ordered the French toast, the waffles the eggs any style and the chiliqiles. Everything was delicious and well prepared. I just found this place a while back and let me tell you my taste buds were screaming, "this is so delicious". I've only been at this restaurant a couple of times and the food and service is great. Just don't complain about the wait time during busy hours of brunch time because it's to be expected. It's a popular spot with the locals so there's always a wait. Tip: get their before the crowd. Next time I go I'll pay more attention to the history of the place, but it's been around since the mid 70s. It started with the idea of all natural food. Everything made here is fresh. To the side of the restaurant they have an all natural store with healthy items to buy such as dried fruit, nuts, flaxseeds, chia seeds, homeopathic teas, etc. I posted some pics. Also, they have a cafe so you can have a latte or cappuccino while you wait or after you eat. This restaurant is also vegetarian friendly. Food: Pancakes are made from wheat flour. It's different but very good and healthy. And the stack of pancakes are big, yum. I promise to post food porn pics next time. Stuffed chicken with a yogurt sauce on top and sliced almonds, it sounds strange I know, but this was so freakish good. The fist bite made me go "mmm", second bite "mmmm", third bite "mmmmmm" (feeling like Homer thinking of the donut but I'm thinking of this stuffed chicken.) I've also had the eggs ranchero style, very good too. Let me just say that the times I've been here I don't leave feeling full and bloated. I feel satisfied and little full but w/o the bloated feeling. Juices: I've only had the fresh squeezed orange juice. I don't know what's wrong with me but I forget to order a juice other than orange lol. They have a lot of options to choose from, or you can build your own. Such a shame I have to leave a negative review for this organization. I used to eat here with my parents when I a child and always enjoyed the atmosphere/food. My wife is lifetime local and shared the same thoughts as me regarding our most recent visit: 1. When we were seated, we immediately knew what to order and were having trouble finding the waitress to put our order in. We later found out that the waitress was seating other people in the same section of the restaurant and actually began taking everyone else's orders first, even though we were the table she seated first. We had to sit through 3 other tables' orders before she got to us. 2. After we put our order in, it took them forever to bring out the famous bread and pumpkin spread. Unfortunately, they provided a small portion of spread and only 3 slices of bread. We finished those fairly quickly and had trouble finding the waitress to ask for more. 3. After a fairly long wait, we finally received our food and it turns out they burned the potato side. I wish I was exaggerating about the burnt potato; I've attached a picture to reference just how burned it was. Another thing we noticed was that the chilaquiles with turkey were very disappointing. The turkey tasted and looked like precut turkey you'd buy at Calimax and they just sliced it into squares and threw it on the plate. 4. To top things off, when we didn't eat the potato, the waitress picked up the plate and didn't even apologize or offer to replace the burnt potato side. As a side note, they don't offer straws anymore so you're stuck drinking directly from the glass cups now and if you ask for water, they'll give you a cheap plastic cup instead of a water bottle or glass. One final thing that struck me as odd was that they merged the bathroom and made it a "Family Restroom" with no lock on it, so anyone can walk in at any time. I went to the restroom and was washing my hands when this old lady walked in and was surprised to see me there. She jumped a little and I had to explain to her that it's a "shared" bathroom now. I personally have no problem with this type of layout, but I can certainly see other people wanting a bit more privacy. Overall, I don't think I will be returning any time soon out of my own free will. The restaurant has changed so much to the point that it's completely shifted direction in what they originally set their premise to be based off of. read more

Back then it was a cute little restaurant and grew into a lovely huge space with great views. This Family Owned business has a wonderful super healthy menu, everything is always very fresh and delicious and they even have wonderful vegetarian options. You'll love this restaurant. I think they even teach Yoga Classes and Meditation in one of their additional rooms and they have a Vitamin Shop as well. I love that they have fresh pressed juices and smoothies.
