Loud and fun. Not a typical dinner spot. Fun for adults who are looking for good music and night life without going to a club. Easy to come in and grab a drink.

El Muchacho Alegre is a great place to check out if you are in Zona Rio. I was recently in Tijuana for a dental cleaning and wanted to grab dinner before crossing back over. I was a bit burned out of the restaurants in Zona Centro so I headed over to the gastro center of Tijuana - Zona Rio. While wandering around doing some research I passed by El Muchacho Alegre, a very festive restaurant. I stopped by El Muchacho Alegre at prime time and was very pleased to get a table upstairs with a view. Salsa and chips were placed down quickly and I ordered the biggest margarita available. Shortly thereafter I order the taco bichi con marlin and a quesataco. I ordered what I did based on the presentation from the menu and I am sure glad I did. Both tacos were very delicious and the dish included two additional salsas. Everything I tried was highly flavorful and fresh. The margarita was just the right size and I would order it again. While the service was great, I did not appreciate the loud music. A heads up to others who may be from across the border: Pay with pesos as the rate was a bit unfair. And as I say about many places in Tijuana, I am already wanting to return.

This is our 4th time here. Everything we order is delicious and FRESH. We love bringing new customers so they can taste a little bit of Mazatlan. The Adictivos are BOMB! There is something for everyone. We have yet to come when the Banda is playing! Salud!

I have been wanting to try this place out since April 2020 but due to COVID I finally got to go. Unfortunately it was not what I expected it to be the service was absolutely horrific. I even asked my waiter are you mad he replied it's my face. I will NEVER EVER go back there again and if I get asked by friends I will let them know to NOT go. I texted a friend after and told him about my experience and he said oh yeah I went there too and I left ‍. Needless to say The gentlemen that was my waiter did apply to work here right? # Customer service is lacking in all departments here !

The mariscos here were so good!! The oysters were a good size and were fresh. I tried the tostada de Atun and it was really good!! The dressing on the tostada was delicious. We also got the ceviche sinaloense and it had to be the best thing we tried!! The salsa negra was so good!! I usually like raw shrimp because the cooked ones are usually too chewy for me and their cooked shrimp in the ceviche was perfect! We also got the molcajete jefe de jefes. It was an aguachile that included a bunch of things like Tuna! I had never tried one like that before and it was all really good!! Their drinks were also delicious! We will definitely be back!

I ordered a Molcajete- El Muchacho Alegre. Amazingly delicious! I like that the waitress made sure to ask if I wanted my dish spicy or mild. Their staff and waitresses are very attentive. I'm a big fan of Mexican Seafood and this place definitely hits the spot. I like that they have private secure parking in the back to keep your car safe. Ohh and great music, they were playing Valentine Elizalde which gave the restaurant a good vibe.

Found this place, thanks to Yelp…read more We crossed over to droop off my parents and wanted a place that served food but that we could sit down and talk. We had a 15 minute wait before we were sat at our table. As soon as we sat down, we had coffee cups ready and regular coffee or Cafe de olla ready to be served. Our Server was amazing. He made sure we were comfortable, and asked if we had any questions on the menu. We ordered the queso fundido to start, chilaquiles and tamales everything was great! I can't wait to go back and try the lunch/dinner menu. The place was very busy but the place was filled with good vibes and great energy.

I had someone call from our hotel and we got right in and there was a line outside. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is all great. Their breakfast goes from American eggs and bacon with the best potatoes to wonderful burrito type breakfast items. Their menudo is great and they have great Mexican meats as well. Lunch and dinner is about the same. They make Mexican style fish and steak that is just perfect every time. All of their Mexican dishes are just wonderful. You can't go wrong. They even have bottled water--never drink the water there, just don't. They have the best rice and beans. The service is great. They make you feel right at home and even if you don't speak Spanish, most speak English and you will figure it out because they will help you. The prices are fair for what you get. At dinner I consider it fine dining. It is all good and you will be happy. The place is also clean and super comfortable.

The Zona Rio location has a small dining area, that is very popular with both the locals and visitors. It is easy to see why. Their menu does not over dose on the standard morning and afternoon items that you would find anyplace. However, this is the first restaurant I've been to in Tijuana, that does not have an English menu.... so I had to labor through the Spanish menu. But, they do have unique dishes, thus making the visit adventurous, because it is difficult to choose. I went back and forth, and finally settled for their 3-egg omelet with asparagus and sheep cheese. It came with refried beans, strings of carrots and beets, small fired up tostadas and fresh tortillas (both blue and yellow corn). A small side of soggy chilaquiles was also served. A small flavorful salsa tray is also provided with 3 options, ranging from mild to hot. The asparagus spears were thin, cut up into small pieces and sautéed with mild spices. The outer egg covering soft and not overdone. If anything, there was too much sheep cheese, in certain portions of the omelet. I say this because it was an asparagus omelet, and it, instead of the cheese, should have been the star. Still, it did not take away from the other commendable aspects of the complete entree and its accompaniments. Before the meal, a small refreshing fruit plate is served. Coffee and overall service here, was mucho excellente.

They have their own designated parking, which is nice, as sometimes parking may be an issue in town. The parking attendant welcomes you and lets you know where to park. You are immediately greeted when you walk in. I typically visit for a late lunch. The restaurant has a cozy feel. The staff are attentive and friendly. The presentation of the food is nice and it tastes good. Some of the dishes that I have tried are: Tarahumara (portobello omelet), Xitomatl (entomatadas), Huichol (chilaquiles con cecina), Mulli (mole Oaxaqueño), Teotihuacán (chilaquiles con chorizo y huevo), and Coyoltzin (puntas de filete). My favorite has been the Coyoltzin because the meat is tender and juicy. I also love that they bring salsas to the table. I like the chiles with oil and vinegar that they make. Overall, a great place to have breakfast or lunch with friends and family.
