Okay, I try not to write bad reviews, but this one was a long time coming. I've been a customer of this location for 5 years. Unfortunately my barber Danny passed away, RIP, he was amazing. With that, half of their staff also quit or moved. So I was left with only 2 options Callen and Megan. When I originally booked Callen, the day before they called me to cancel his appointment saying he was also taking a day off, so I rebooked with Meghan for whatever time was available. After getting a cut with Meghan one time, she rushed my cut completely ignoring my requests on my desired hair length. On top of that she was not in a good mood/attitude, which I can understand, so many changes happened, so I took it as it is, everyone has those days. I decided to give it a shot again. Next time I got a cut from Meghan once again, she wanted to rush me off the chair within 10 mins, I was more firm on my requests and asked that my hair length needs to be shorter, multiple times. Until we got close enough to what I needed. She asked if I wanted to wash my hair, I said no, I said just a blow dry and it's good to go. She completely ignored my request, blew away all cut hair from my shoulders but left my hair wet and said all done, bye. You can't finish cut without drying hair, cause you can't see the final look. As I suspected, when I got home and dried my hair, it was terrible, uneven, pieces sticking out from sides and top, just like the time before. So once again I had to cut my own hair for another 30 mins trying to fix the damage, so it would look acceptable, just like the last time. And plus with that, all the attitude for a $65-70 haircut after tax and tips. Not again. Rudy's lots a loyal customer for good. read more

I have been going to Rudy's for over a decade and I am sorry to say that its steadily downhill. I have gotten multiple bad haircut, the time for cutting keeps on getting reduced, now its 20 minutes but last time they took 10 minutes to cut my hair and they didnt even hinted on hair wash (which should be part of the price) or anything else. The funny thing was that they offer me to put hair product in my hair, but why would I put hair product in my hair without washing my hair. If you are not going to offer the full service, dont list it. Its numbers game, regardless of the amount you pay, they are just rushing everybody and trying to get you out of the door, which often results in bad service. DO NOT GO HERE. Service is an absolute joke. I got there 15 minutes early but couldnt find parking for 20 minutes because of a street fair. Was 8 minutes late and they refused to cut my hair, and charged my half the cost of my haircut as a "cancellation fee". I had soooo much anxiety about getting my hair cut for the first time in 30 years. I wanted a change but had no idea what that change should look like, just a mood or vibe I was hoping for. Ash was able to give me that and so much more. We talked about some ideas and then she started, a little length at a time to ease me into it. The nerves quickly subsided, replaced by joy and excitement on how this was turning out. In the end, I left with more than I was hoping for. A great new look, information on how to keep it up and options on styling not only my hair but beard as well. A truly enjoyable experience. Let me start by saying that one star is a overstatement! Not only was this one of the worst haircuts I've ever had and not even remotely close to the picture I showed Meagan the barber and on top of that even when I was extremely polite and asked her to fade it out more because there was literally no fade. She said that she is overtime and she only has 20 minutes for each haircut which is absolutely ridiculous given the fact she was 10 mins late for my appointment WOW on top of that. I got charged $49 for this atrocity, and to be clear, I would've had paid an additional 49 to get a perfect haircut. ! This hidden gem located under the Ace hotel will have your hair looking amazing in no time. --- Atmosphere --- Rudy's is a small and uniquely decorated barbershop, wallpapered with magazine clippings and headlines picked by the stylists. There are roughly 5 stations and a waiting area upstairs. --- Stylist --- Drew is fantastic! I showed him a general idea of what I wanted to do with my hair and he knew exactly what to do. He had a few ideas on how to make it even better and ran them by me first, which turned out great. This visit was the day before my first day at a new job. First- I was told by one of the staff to make appointments by phone. Once I get my appointment ready for a Sunday morning, I get there 10~15 minutes in advance. My appointment is 9:30am ... it's 9:40 an no one cares to provide an update on regards how much longer I need to wait. I leave... , then I try for the second time... I called early Sunday morning and I was told that 3:30 was open. I took it. Then, once I'm there at 3:33 the receptionist says- sorry, we tried calling you. There was a conflict with your booking. Someone booked online for 3:30pm The receptionist made it sound that it was not her fault. Like they did everything they could to avoid the inconvenience by calling me few minutes before my appointment time---WTF!! My appointment was for 3:30pm and calling me at freaking 3:24 was going to help remedy your mistake and incompetence of your service!!!??? She didn't even apologized. Never again! read more

I always get a ton of complements after she cuts my hair. She is really good at keeping the conversation flowing with minimal effort on my part, which I greatly appreciate. read more

Rudy's is my go to place for a haircut. I tend to go to the Bellevue primarily, but the Belltown location is the one I go to when I am in Seattle. Previously, I lived close to the Capitol Hill location, but would go to Belltown because it was always so busy and the reviews are not as glowing. The Belltown on the other hand is great. It is not as crowded, even though it is in a densely populated area. Close to downtown and several steps away from First Avenue. It is kind of hidden behind the Ace Hotel and the Cyclops Cafe. The space is fairly modest, but it has some grit and flavor to it. Interesting the waiting area is not out front. You ascend a staircase where there are several benches. I do also like the selection of magazines at Rudy's while you wait. It is not just the major publications. Read today a copy of Imbibe Magazine which is a specialty magazine focused on drinks. Coffee, tea and liquor. Pretty cool. Have not had to wait on most occasions, but today I did. I guess it was because it is the weekend and warm. Got a buzzcut ($10) which was quick and looked good. I did notice the soundtrack here is a little eclectic. The Belltown location had a mix of indie with diva pop. Mariah and Christina notably. I am more used to the Bellevue's location strictly indie mix. I wonder if the soundtrack is decided by location. Overall, I like Rudy's Belltown. Haircuts are quick and easy. And most importantly, it looks good. read more

The only place I will get my haircut is at Rudy's Barber Shop(s). I favor this Rudy's to the others for 3 reasons: 1. Consistency in both cuts and price. 2. They have more cutting 'stations' = less wait time. 3. Interior layout and design is awesome. Very spacious with large mirrors. A staircase will lead you to the upstairs waiting area where you can canvass the hairstylists at work or grab the newest issue of Vice. Prints by Shepard Fairey adorn the walls of the waiting area, while the Piece de Resistance is the ginormous KAWS x DIESEL canvas behind the register. read more

I had to go back to get a redo (it was that bad) which means driving and parking - AGAIN. I got another haircut last night and got back home to realize that it was not at all blended in and was completely uneven on top. I mean, just a careless miss, and I don't have a complex haircut. (BEWARE)Rudy's @Belltown: I visited them on 08/30/2019 for the second time. They always try to skip shampoo And conditioning which comes in the same price along with the short hair cut. They will neither tell you until you ask for it explicitly. I was bit confused when they did not do it at the first place during my appointment on 08/30 and I asked about it while paying the bills being curious whether that was not included as per their website. The lady at the check stand said, ohh we thought you might be in hurry so you can do it at home but the barber never asked me at the first place to check whether I am in hurry or would like to get it done!! This is ridiculous, you are trying to save on shampoo n Conditioner even after paying a premium bill of 45$ for a normal scissor hair cut! Or this is some kind of discrimination as I saw them asking for the shampoo service to the American dude sitting next to my chair. Since my hair is already too short to be cut any further (i'd be lookin' like a real boy if so) I couldn't possibly have taken advantage of you. This place has consistently gone downhill over the past year. I should have taken it as a sign when my usual stylist left for another salon. Today, after waiting twenty minutes past my appointment time, Sammi butchered my hair on a chair still covered in hair from the previous client. I asked for a skin FADE. She took the clippers and went in at the top with no guard. Immediately ruined. She was nice enough to give me a discounted rate but now I'm at home fixing her work myself. Either for my stylist to be done with his previous client or to simply show up for work (always same stylist - I like consistency). So a few issues at work: 1. Rudy's does not enforce appropriate session length (a long hair cut, wash, etc. takes longer than 20 minutes) 2. Stylist not showing up on time for work 3. Stylist not respecting an appointment (and no awareness/acknowledgement) Those three factors have me looking for someone new. Shame because I hate change. Where do I start? Oh yah, with the people cutting your hair and how they are incredibly inconsistent. The turn over at this location has been very high so its hard to stay with a stylist. I've had 1 or 2 good hair cuts here in YEARS that I've been frequenting. Why go back you ask? Well its 1 block from my house and I don't own a car, but the last time was the straw that broke the camels back. I won't be returning and have relocated to Collage on First because its the same price and they have been amazing. Rudy's as a whole has seemed to get more like Great Clips over the years, just with a fancy hip decor and eclectic stylists. I can't comment on any other location, but I'd recommend going to another barbershop... Too many in Seattle to settle. read more

Hairstylists are usually nice and know what they are doing. This review is mostly about their bad scheduling management. I made an appointment few days in advance and showed up on time, I was asked to wait because hairstylist was busy with another client. After half an hour wait, somebody from the staff comes to me to tell that my hairstylist is running late on the schedule and if I could see another stylist. It took them only half an hour to realize that appointment can not happen as scheduled, that's just bad management. If a person has an appointment, how difficult is it to call them in advance and let them know about the situation. I liked getting haircut at this place, but after this bad experience I don't think I would go back again. read more

The bond between a man and his barber is a sacred one. I just moved here from LA and was hoping that I would find a barbershop that I could develop that bond with. I found out today that Rudy's isn't that place, unless you want to come out with your head looking like a pineapple. No amount of complaining will regrow my hair so that I can get it fixed, so I won't mention who cut my hair, but I will say, for anyone who's newly arrived to Seattle and thinking about getting your haircut here, do your research on the barbers. The staff members are terrible (besides one person). They are racists against anyone that isn't white. I had an appointment and they have a 5 minute grace period. I walked in and they told me that I was a minute late and can't get a haircut. But someone else walked in two minutes after and they took them. Wtf. read more

I've had it with this place. I live right next door to this Rudy's so naturally have taken my 7 yr old son and my man for haircuts here. The wait time here is outrageous, they seriously made my son wait 90 min for a buzz cut that takes 2 min. And while we were waiting we saw many people that worked there standing around talking, going out to smoke, ect. They really just don't care at all. Now I just called them to put my man on the list and the girl tells me she doesn't have a wait but can't do my mans hair tonight. I said but don't you close at 9? She says ummm yeah but sorry.
