We ordered multiple dishes. The food was so so. Mostly bland, nothing wrong with it. Just not great. However the behavior of the person when my husband picked up the food was downright nasty. First of all we are paying for all of it, so a bit of respect to customers goes a long way. The restaurant has a nice simple feel to it. Nothing too extravagant but nothing ugly or gross. Staff is very nice and courteous. On to the food. The food is above average I'd say, especially for the area. I usually get the same dish (lamb curry) from most Indian restaurants and I have to say that this is one of the better ones I've had. It's not too spicy but I'm sure they could spice it up for you upon request. Their rice and naan bread are cooked tastefully just as well. Passing through Peekskill at 2.45 and saw Ruchi Indian Cuisine in a mall. Went inside to see they were closing in 15min. It was Sunday.. Ok if we stay? Yes of course!. The buffet was still on. The man in charge was very helpful. So we filled our plates. Deliciously spiced offerings. Wish I could remember all we had. Then... Out came take home trays and we were told to help ourselves for take home what was left at the buffet. Yummy. Hmm my favorite was chicken briyana and Mike's was a goat dish. You're immediately hit with the most amazing aroma when you walk into this place. The warm spices fill your nose and soul! Seriously. I'm still a bit new to Indian food so I wasn't too familiar with the dishes. Ordered the chicken tikka masala, and although it was good - tender chicken, good portion...it was a bit bland, but I suppose you could ask them to turn up the heat! However, my friend's chicken vindaloo was AMAZING. Seriously the most flavorful and spicy sauce ever, without being too overwhelming on the palate. I would definitely get this next time! The naan was so delicious, as was the mango lassi. Pros: chicken vindaloo, service, mango lassi. Cons: they rent out a space downstairs and at one point someone started playing bass and I felt the vibration go through my body like an electric shock. My ears were ringing and it got annoying/startled me a few times. Regardless, will be back next time I'm in the mood for something spicy, delicious, and comforting! read more

Oh. My. Goodness. My husband and I were in town for a show at the Paramount and were looking for a place for dinner. We both love Indian food and we don't really have a good place by where we live. We looked online and found Ruchi was nearby the theater so we went. We got there right as they opened for dinner and it was 100% hands down THEEE BEST Indian food we have EVER had. He got chicken tikka masala and I got the chicken korma, and we each got an order of garlic naan. The chicken was so tender we could cut it with our forks. The sauces were rich and amazing and plentiful! The naan was just out of this world. We couldn't believe how good it was! HIGHLY recommend! I can see us driving two hours just to eat here again. **I do have to say Google maps tried to kill us trying to get there. Helpful hint - IT'S IN THE SHOPPING PLAZA. Also, the free glass of wine offer doesn't work because Yelp doesn't think you're actually at the restaurant either, when you're sitting IN the restaurant.** read more

I've only had the buffet here, but it is decent and the options often change. The variety and vegetarian choices are so nice. And the staff is very friendly. Once, the waiter took a few extra minutes to bring a soda I ordered, and he felt so bad he didn't charge me for it. I, in no way, indicated I was bothered by the delay...in fact I completely understood. He was hustling that day. I appreciated that small but meaningful gesture. Lost two stars for the lack of a shield over the buffet...I noticed a rather large hair in the rice once and waited for them to refill it before partaking in that dish. Also, I much prefer Indian House (previously located for 30+ years over in Montrose, now relocated to Croton). But I hear the dinner is great at Ruchi, so I'll be sure to update my review after I've tried that dining experience. read more

We managed to miss this place - they been open for over 3 years and we just found them week ago. Very attentive owner, explaining us in details all dishes that would be good for vegan/vegetarian diet and how they can alter if necessary. Food was good. We liked crispy eggplant-tamarind chickpeas appetizer, and freshly cooked tandoori vegetables. it was our second visit, and first we tried a lunch buffet which was good as well. will be back to try more. update - we like their lunch buffet a lot they always have 4 vegetarian dishes to try and few appetizers etc. good food. read more

Lunch time buffet is superb. Great value for money and a regular supply of fresh food. Always three vegetarian/vegan options to choose from too (which is why I like it so much). Dinner service is from the menu, a good selection of dishes although I tend to stick to my favourites. The Dosa appetiser is a must! It's large and tasty and always looks good on the plate. Go there! "Steve K" your review is nonsense. How is the jury still out if you've eaten there and liked it? STUPID! I've been to this place a few times - both for lunch and dinner - since it opened. The food is consistently good. The reviews on here are inconsistent for some reason. Probably idiots like Steve K. I've eaten in some of the best (and worst) Indian restaurants in the country and spent time in India and Ruchi is quite good! My only complaint was that we waited for our food during dinner a bit longer than I would have liked to, but it was excellent when it came. Avoid the "4 pepper" level of spice - it really is THAT hot. Everything I had was fresh, presented beautifully, and tasted wonderful. Also, they do have a full bar now. read more

I must have eaten from this place over a year ago and as I search for food that Im gonna have to order out from while im at work i opted to write this review to remind me that this place is a no good for really good indian food.... you know how sometimes you just feel like a lil spicy sumthin, and Indian cuisine fits the taste.. well this spot in beach is the wrong taste...hot yes, but not overly impressive and rather expensive... It was a small but tasty buffet - great for the vegetarian in our group, and grandma, who never had eatten Indian food was able to sample lots of things. The curried goat was a bit oily and none of the food was too hot (spicy) but it was solidly tasty. And while not a huge buffet it was a good selection and clearly labeled. This was our first (and will definitely be our last) visit to this restaurant. I'll give the benefit of the doubt that non-buffet dishes might be better, or that other buffets might have been better during different, weeks, months, or years, but this was by far the worst Indian meal we have had in our lives. We live in NYC and eat Indian food frequently, and this was absolutely horrible. It was so bad that my son and I couldn't finish our dishes, so we left our barely touched plates of food on the table and hiked it on down to the Mexican restaurant at the end of the mall. Victoria, who loves Indian food, actually stayed behind to tough it out, but when the wait staff (and finally the owner) came out to ask if everything was OK, she actually said (and she's never done this before), "Actually, not really. The food isn't very good." They immediately said we didn't to pay for our meals, which we would have gladly done, if they were edible. She then added that everything was incredibly bland, to which they replied, they did that on purpose at the buffet since they absolutely can't get away with making anything too spicy, lest they offend customers. BTW: when we saw the buffet, we asked if they could prepare dishes from the menu, and the waiter said no, but then later, the owner said absolutely, and then sternly looked at the water, who was standing right next to him. It seems like they have a communication problem there as well. So, what, in particular, was not good? For starters, the fried appetizers (fritters, etc.) were not just moderately warm, but cold. The two vegetarian curries they had at the buffet that we tried, a mango curry and a spinach lentil dish, were so watery that they left pools of water on our plate when we spooned a serving over the rice. The lemon rice was passable, but the pieces of Nan tasted like rubber. Seriously, not kidding, it was that bad. The thing is, I don't doubt that some people have had a great experience there, or that it's better during the week (we went on a Saturday), or that it was just an off day, but it shouldn't be so bad as to be inedible. Anyway, if you want Indian, I would check out other places in town, and if you go here, perhaps avoid the buffet altogether. read more

Had their Saturday lunch buffet today... definitely one of the better Indian buffets I've had. Great selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, and everything seemed pretty fresh. No gross floating oil. Everything was relatively hot too (I mean temperature-wise... I hate those cold/luke warm buffets). I was also impressed by the service. Our water classes were never empty, and when they ran out of poori on the buffet and I asked if they were making more, they brought a fresh one right to our table. Ruchi has stepped up the game. They have cleaned the place up and kicked up the spice. When you have food from India that's what you expect. Flavors to explode. They also have a party room available for rent downstairs and offer catering. It's rare I wouldn't go back to a restaurant when the food is good. I never stopped coming here. Came here for dinner tonight as I was craving Indian food. Split the meat samosas and they were a bit bland, but still good. For entrees the hubby ordered the lamb curry which was really good, flavorful with a subtle hint of citrus, I might need to get that next time! I got the mixed tandoori grill so I would have enough for lunch the rest of the week. You get a TON of food, however there was only one sad little shrimp. They also give you a side of tikka masala sauce, but this time it tasted heavily of cream rather than tomato and spices. The Naan was hot and fresh and the rice was good as well. Service was on the slower side, but for a Thursday night at 7pm, the restaurant was half full with take out orders coming and going and only one main waiter. If you're looking for reasonably priced Indian food, this is a great spot. Total bill with 1 app, 2 entrees, 1 order of Naan and 1 small beer was $50.01 (before tip) and we both have plenty of leftovers for the next 2 days at least! read more
