Stone Canyon Inn - Our cute cabin!

    Stone Canyon Inn

My husband and I stayed at Stone Canyon Inn in a treehouse during the Labor Day weekend. Before we…read moreeven got there, they emailed us directions, in anticipation that we wouldn't know where we were going. I appreciated the forethought. We drove up late Friday night and arrived around 11pm. The staff were gone, but we called ahead/wrote a note ahead of time, and they made accommodations for us to pick up our key. Checking in was as low drama as it gets. These examples made me feel that the level of service is good, even though we didn't interact with anyone. Sometimes it's the non verbal things that make a difference. Our treehouse was super cute. The living quarters were elevated and the lower level/floor level is an area where you can sit, have a bonfire, bbq using their grill, etc. Overall, it was in good condition. Just minor things like our screen door didn't really line up when closed. It seemed to be clean in areas that are often overlooked, but the shower had a lot of random stray hairs that were not mine. Also the water pressure is low. I'm not sure if that's by design or not... The room's features are pretty standard: Mini fridge, kitchen sink, small closet, king bed and a loft with two twins. The property is located just on the other side of Bryce Canyon. You can see the colorful canyon-top from the tree house. It's a very convenient 20 minute drive from the park entrance. It's remote and very quiet. It was truly beautiful and serene. There is a wash nearby that filled up due to some rain, but the next day it dried out. The wash does not affect access to the road or hotel, fortunately. There is a restaurant on site. It's decent. It's pricy. Service is on par with a higher end restaurant in the city, but the food flavors were slightly above average. Not sure if I'd go back to the restaurant. There's a town down the street that also has food and a store.

I'm gonna say these are pretty awesome. I would have given these a five but I had some minor…read moreissues. I was in cabin 10 and the door sticks and I couldn't get in with the passcode that they sent me in my email. I ended up having to call and then somebody came in an ATV. I waited less than five minutes. It was really quick. He came by and he opened the door for me. I tried it. It worked. I was skeptical. He did mention how a few guests before me also had issues with a lock, so it definitely is something that should have been fixed since it was a known issue. I went to dinner and I was lucky. The guy just happened to be at the cabins because there's not normally somebody on site but it's very easy to get someone to come to you if you need help and he had to let me in again because the door was sticking. I had decided I better not leave the cabin anymore or sit outside like I wanted to because I didn't know if I would be able to get the door open. It was exceptionally clean. It had a very nice layout. The bathroom smelled so good. I actually didn't take a shower there or anything. So I can't comment on that. I feel like the counter in the bathroom needs more support. It's definitely coming away from the sink and it adds a cheapness to the cabin. I will say, though that the runs on the chairs need to be dusted and there's a lot of dust settling on the logs on the walls so there does need to be some dusting done, and there was a huge cobweb that was hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom, it was very obvious to me so I'm not sure how that was overlooked. I was warned by someone else that there were scorpions in traffic. I brought a black light and scorpion killer with me and I checked the cabin and there was nothing in there with the black light scorpions. Do show up with black lights.... It seems pretty insulated, but I could see some light coming through some of the slats in the doors so I just wanted to be careful. It was a great experience and I would recommend these to anyone however, be very careful because these cabins are set back behind two other motels that have log cabins as well. And these are very nice compared to the first ones I went to and the properties all have very similar names. So just watch for that.

I was traveling to Bryce Canyon National Park and chose to stay at Bryce Canyon Log Cabins. Before…read moremy arrival I received instructions to the cabin with cabin number and passcode. (No staff on site). The cabins are in a line with a generous parking space across from the cabin facing a field with picnic table. Each cabin has a front porch with two chairs and small side table. The inside was attractive with two queen beds. It was clean and the decor was upscale rustic suitable for a log cabin. It was adequately supplied for my needs and included, WiFi, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The only minor glitch was the plunger on the sink didn't work well. The plunger knob was not attached to the drain. All in all it was a lovely stay and within walking distance to restaurants. I enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening. I could even hear roosters from the neighboring farm in the morning. I would highly recommend a stay at Bryce Canyon Log Cabins.

The lobby has a super tall ceiling and a lodge-like feel, really fancy and modern. Plenty of parking. The breakfast included breakfast with a big buffet of scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with ham, pancakes, cereal, sausage, bacon, fruit, tater tots, breakfast muffins and donuts had much more choices than the Best Western we stayed at in at Springdale for Zion National Park. There is one elevator. Pay attention to the receptionist when they tell you the floor. Our room was 3461, and he said the 4th floor which seemed like a mistake until we got out on the 3rd floor and could not find our room. The second digit refers to the floor number. The first number refers to the building. Room was clean, comfortable, spacious and the bathroom vanity was long. There was an inexpensive Keurig machine. I successfully made my coffee, but my husband couldn't get the machine to turn on again even with wife help. Microwave in the room. Our mini-fridge was warm and fiddling with the temperature control didn't seem to start it up. I put those comments on my Best Western survey and the general manager responded and thanked me and said the problems would be addressed. The pool and hot tub are located in the center of the buildings, so it can be more shaded there in the afternoon. The park shuttle does not stop at this hotel but Ruby's Inn about 7 - 10 minutes walking. We drove the 0.5 miles for dinner there - Cowboy's Buffet and Steak Room. We got there about 5:40 pm and by 6:30 pm, it looked like a 30-45 minute line. When they run out of the ribs, you might be stuck eating the buffet or other menu choices. The ribs were good!

It felt like a burden that we were checking in and she provided no direction whatsoever. She also was blasting music/videos the majority of the day while tidying up which was inconsiderate. The room was located across from the laundry area (staff only) and near the stairs. If you're a light sleeper good luck. There is NO noise proofing. The doors are old and walls are thin. You will hear everything. Thank goodness we had no one above us. Room was large but felt old. The pictures speak for themselves. The bathroom door was filthy. The bathroom fan made a horrible noise so the light was unusable. Host said there was nothing she could do. Door looked like someone tried to break it. There's no heat or air control in individual rooms so it got cold. Was this stay almost $250? No way. No. Its a hotel outside of a national park so the expectations may be a little much for some. The rooms may be a little outdated but they are clean and well kept. Room cleaning and fresh linens are automatic everyday unless you place your do not disturb placard on the door. The A/C works well and beds are soft and clean. Much needed relief after your better half takes you on that much needed hike, well so I was told, through the park. The breakfast is great and is 100 percent better than any Hilton, Holiday Inn or just name other big franchise along a freeway that offers a free brwakfast. Added plus you have a server to provide your choice in drinks. The General Store is another added plus. We never went to the pool but the kids in the lobby in towels seemed to enjoy it. It provided a clean, comfortable room with many extras for the few hours we were not in the park. Worth the stay.

The Ruby's Inn was such a cool place to stay because it's minutes away from Bryce Canyon National Park and the Inn has so much history and so much to see itself. The room we stayed in had a very supportive bed. You can tell the room is old, but well maintained. The stay included a buffer breakfast at their restaurant. We went to the restaurant for our breakfasts and dinners. Every time we went, there were bus-fulls of people in line. So i think this place is very popular for large traveling groups. But with the staff, they took care of the crowd quickly.
