It turned out there were only two of us but for the price the room was still a bargain. The pictures online were a little deceiving in that to me it appeared that it was three beds in one room, but it's actually two beds in the main room and a separate bedroom with the third bed. The room has the basics, microwave, fridge and coffee machine. The room was clean and comfortable and the owner is onsite. It's conveniently located next to a gas station that has a Subway, Yogurtland and whatever other market items you might need. And because it's on the main street there are other restaurants within walking distance. We were in town for a road bike event but this is a great option if you plan on exploring nearby Bryce Canyon.

At the Lamplighter Lodge, there was extensive dark, mold-like growth surrounding the window and bathroom ceiling, along with visible grime throughout the bathroom. The sink, toilet, flooring, fixtures, and heavily corroded showerhead were all dirty. Many repairs appeared to be makeshift cosmetic patches rather than proper maintenance or remediation. The bedding also did not feel or appear clean enough for us to trust that it had been properly changed between guests. We were so uncomfortable that we wrapped T-shirts around the pillows before sleeping on them. The entire room felt neglected, frightening, and deeply unsanitary--more like the setting of a horror movie than somewhere that should be accepting paying guests. The air in the bedroom was also extremely concerning and did not resemble anything close to fresh or clean. It carried a strong mix of cigarette smoke, stale odors, and a heavy musty, mold-like dampness that felt suffocating. It did not feel like normal indoor air, but rather like a humid, poorly ventilated environment where moisture and contamination had built up over time. After being moved to the Color Country Hotel, conditions were somewhat improved in comparison, but still unacceptable. While there was less visible mold, the room still showed signs of poor upkeep, inadequate cleaning, and general neglect. There was also a handwritten note in the room thanking guests for tips, decorated with a child's drawings. Although I understand that this appears to be a family-run property and I do feel compassion for the family, placing such a personal note in a room with these conditions felt inappropriate rather than welcoming. The overwhelmingly positive reviews do not remotely reflect what we personally encountered, which is difficult to understand. I cannot prove how those reviews were generated, so I will simply encourage prospective guests to look closely at the attached, dated photographs and make their own judgment. These were not merely outdated or inexpensive rooms. The conditions at both properties--particularly the mold concerns, poor air quality, and lack of basic sanitation--appeared to present a legitimate public-health concern. Both properties need professional inspection, mold assessment and remediation, and a complete overhaul of their cleaning practices. I would not recommend staying at either location under any circumstances. They moved us from one room into another room and both were horrifically unsanitary. I was the only one in the motel at 8 then 2 other parties rolled up, they located them directly next to me so I could hear them all not. Very inconsiderate of the staff to place them right next to me when there are so many rooms, we literally shared a wall. I also went in for free breakfast at 8 am and the door was locked in below freezing temperatures and snow. They didn't start breakfast til I pointed out that there should be one included. I have no good expectations for the breakfast but was just hoping for some toast and maybe some juice or coffee. Rooms, towels, and bedding are excellent.

Henries Hitch n Post excels on all 3! If these items are in order, you can pretty much expect the hook-ups are in order as well and they were. A note. As far as facilities are operational goes, if the park has a laundry facility my experience is there tends to be some "out of order" machines the majority of the time. Not here! The laundry room has over 10 machines and 10 dryers (didn't count) and everyone one is operational. Wow! First rate. As for the human touch, its amazing. Our short stay turned into an unanticipated longer stay due to a family emergency. Immediately the managers Ed and Beth were on top of things to assist in helping me. The emergency required some family help and Ed and Beth made sure they could stay on site so we could be close together. My instructions from them were take what time you need to address your situation and don't worry about other things we got you. This amazing hospitality and concern for us was such a big help. I told friends and family about this and a common comment is small town hospitality. Yes, probably some of that but it's mainly Ed and Beth. That's the type of people they are. Warm, caring and sincere with big hearts.

They got us a room and made sure we got the fridge and microwave that we needed so we had food options. They gave us a late checkout on the same short notice so we had somewhere to wait for our tow. The room was nice: two beds, Dish Network, free Wifi, clean room and clean bathroom. We've stayed in Panguitch before and while you won't find 5 star resorts here, Knights Inn is the best option we've found for a stay in Panguitch.

Managers/Owners David (Cowboy) and Chrissy are friendly, garrulous, accommodating and usually are found on property cleaning, improving or involved with local events. They have clearly assimilated to Utah from Texas. When we arrived we were upgraded to an awesome kitchenette because we did not have TV cable in one room. Since we were hiking and riding, it was great to store beverages and prepare a few dinners comfortably. The grounds are not manicured but clean. The Motel Rooms are rustic and thread-bare worn but they are clean enough for a couple of nights. You might need to drop a few bucks at Joe's or Family Dollar if you want to cook a meal. I did and had fun figuring how to cook and serve a great family Bolognese pasta dish without tongs or a colander. Are there certainly some things that could be improved: another mirror, mounted TV, bathroom layout, clean window treatments, new carpet, basic kitchen tools, a coat of paint, trimming sticking doors, recycling bins, rickety chairs, on and on and on. However, this review of our personal expectations are realistic and tempered with locale, price, convenience and availability. I expected that this would not be the Ritz-Carleton in Paris, France. We needed TP, a wine opener and suggestions beyond the park (Cedar Break) and they were welcoming to those who were as equally friendly and non-judgemental. Oh and did I mention that the family has a puppy, and the owner allowed me to take the puppy to our car so my husband could meet it? Wow, is this a Utah thing? People are nice and helpful and they trust you with their beloved cute pets?
