On this great Easter Sunday, I decided to take my girlfriend to Ruby Sunshine. She has been talking about going back to the Reaturant since the Yelp elite event a couple of weeks ago. We started off with the fried green tomatoes, I have been thinking about this from the event. Still the same great taste! One thing I can say about Ruby Sunshine they are very consistent. For drinks we ordered the booze coffee, morning margarita and the blueberry margarita. Always a great start to the day! For entrees we had the St. Peter today is was redfish and it was amazing, fish was very meaty and the great cakes are an excellent tradition. great portion for the price! I had the breakfast tacos add chorizo so so good! I ate all three tacos. I would add a dash of hot sauce for the extra kick! Now I saved the best for last our server Abdal. He was so great!! Very personable, offered great suggestions and made us laugh. I give him 5 stars and a 20+% tip lol. I'm so glad the 280 location is here, we def visit us much as we can. read more

We went two days during our trip because it was just that good. The server Jay was theeee best... they got us in and our quickly when we had to eat in a hurry! We just happened to be on the other end of Hwy 280 this morning when the pang of hunger hit. We had never tried Ruby Sunshine before so we decided to give it a try. The staff seems really happy there and because of a 20 minute wait, we opted to sit at the bar where it's first come first serve. I wish, because we stayed so long, that the bar stools were more comfortable. Our bartender was AMAZING! She answered all our questions about the signature drinks and made us feel like we were the most important people there even though she was working her butt off. I had the 3 pigs omelet and my wife had the peaches and cream pancakes. My omelet was perfect and I really liked the biscuit. Her pancakes had the peaches cooked in them which was a plus. She really enjoyed them. My wife also had a peach blini. I swear it was just like taking a bite out of a peach. We are definitely going back! read more

Wow. So much food and so much flavor!! Had the fired green tomato app and it was soooo delicious also tried the French toast bites and they were also melt in your mouth amazing! I had driven by this location for months waiting for it to open, so once it finally did I knew I had to make my appearance! I went onto the Ruby Sunshine website to put my name on the waiting list, which I would recommend because it is commonly busy for brunch. I arrived and only had to wait for an additional ten minutes before being seated at a cute little booth for four. My waiter made sure to wear a mask, was very bubbly, knowledgeable of the menu, and made sure our glasses stayed full. I ordered the French Toast Bites and the Chicken Saint Charles. Both were absolutely delicious. The cream cheese drizzle and praline dipping sauce on the French toast bites were to die for! On the Chicken Saint Charles- the chicken was flavorful and crispy and perfectly balanced with the biscuit and toppings. I would recommend anyone who loves a nice brunch to come and visit! read more

Extremely rude host and hostess. We stood in plain sight of the host stand for an hour and continuously got passed over. After 30 minutes we asked how much longer and they said you will be at the top of the list as soon as I seat all these other people (and what is that supposed to mean?) 30 minutes later all these texts come through and we have missed our spot in line. If you love bacon and haven't been here, you're missing out! We had bloody marys at the bar while waiting for our table. Mine was made with bacon infused vodka and included a stick of bacon. Yum! We also tried the mimosa flight (the blueberry lavender was our favorite). Two words-"bacon candy"! This appetizer does NOT disappoint! I had the breakfast tacos. The scrambled eggs used in the tortillas could have been larger pieces (they were so small it was very runny). They have indoor and outdoor seating and ahead in-line waiting. YALL. This was probably the best brunch I've had in Birmingham so far. I heard this place was good but I did not expect it to be this good. We started off with an order of mimosas of course and this cute flight kept us satisfied until it was time for our food. My friend got the migas and said he loved it. Biscuits and gravy is my go to comfort meal for breakfast and this biscuit and gravy was the BOMB. Also the server has us both a side of the pork Tasso cream sauce and it was chefs kiss!! I was torn between getting the chicken at Charles or the biscuit and gravy so in the end I was kind of able to get both by ordering a side of chicken with the sauce!!! It was 2pm I didn't really want lunch so asked my husband did he want to go try the new breakfast spot. They close at 3pm on Sundays so I went online to join their waitlist just in case they were busy. Only 15mins had passed before we got a message our table was ready. We got there it wasn't too many people there but still a decent amount of customers. There is a bar area and we were seated at a booth rather quickly. Our server was great and answered all our questions and helpful when it came to my substitutions. The food was really good!! The fried green tomatoes really surprised me, if you're a fan of fried green tomatoes you have to try them out here. I'm not a grits fan so they let me sub them. My husband really liked the pancakes, we both left our plates clean. We will definitely be back! read more

Great staff and food. Usually a little wait but we'll worth it. Food is fresh and delicious New Orleans style. My favorites so far winter chocolate Brandied beignets, white chocolate bread pudding pancakes, and trifecta Benedict. Mimosa flight is also a great start to breakfast. Raven was great today but all servers have been outstanding on my visits so far. Please come visit the new location and support or businesses so we may keep them. Decided to try this morning. Was seated at bar by very pleasant hostess. No acknowledgment by waitstaff behind the bar that I was there. Sat there for over 5 minutes. New coupled sat down next to me and were acknowledged immediately and placed their order for drinks. Doubt I will be back. read more

Good is great and if it weren't so good, we would not have stood outside in sweltering heat for 55 minutes (11:00 am on a Friday). Food is great - MIGAS (exceptional), French Toast - everything is great. I think my 54 year old self is just getting tired of managers and hosts blaming poor customer service on staff who either showed up or doesn't. The manager stood by the host's kiosk and argued with a server who was disgruntled over - serving. So. If you want good food - come here. But prepared for service and maybe not that good. read more

I love Ruby Sunshine. I have been to an extension of it before in Mobile, so I was not surprised by how amazing the food and service was at this location. Our greeter, Griffin, was extremely well mannered. When I realized I joined the waitlist at the wrong location, he accommodated me and my guest quickly. Our server, Chelbi, had such a bright personality and added some sunshine to our Sunday brunch. I would definitely visit this location again. My hubby had the trifecta and pronounced it fabulous. I had the biscuits and gravy. I didn't care for the bacon I like mine crisp (but didn't specify that so maybe my fault) the biscuits were ok and the gravy I thought bland. Especially for a New Orleans style restaurant. Ruby Sunshine, What a delightful place, service was top notch, Tina was on it. Outside Patio is small but roomy. Behaved dog friendly. Even will bring out a water dish for you furry babe. Food; I enjoyed my "Bennie", the Bayou Shrimp Benedict. First timer on this and was very please with the fresh taste of sprinkled parsley and leafy fresh sweet basil. Porches egg was perfectly cooked. Cajun tomato sauce was seasoned, not spicy. Not sure of the "pork" part of it, close as I can share somewhat of a ground up pork cutlet. Not much of a bang but didn't matter because the fresh shrimp made up for it. A must try. Husband had the Southern BLT, a non egg bacon sandwich. Husband says the bacon was thicker slices and very tasty. Lettuce balanced to sandwich, says the tomato tasted farm fresh and full flavored. His only downside is he did not care for the thicker bread slice. Too filling for the sandwich. Our pancake was excellent. Slightly crispy at the edge- not over cooked- pancake was fluffy, not mushy, nice even flavor of buttermilk and vanilla. The syrup was omg good! Daughter had the seasonal Apple Pie Pancake and I did take a taste of a very tasty thick sausage link, yummy! She enjoyed her apple pie filing type of topping but plate was easily a plate for 2!
