Ruby Sunshine, What a delightful place, service was top notch, Tina was on it. Outside Patio is small but roomy. Behaved dog friendly. Even will bring out a water dish for you furry babe. Food; I enjoyed my "Bennie", the Bayou Shrimp Benedict. First timer on this and was very please with the fresh taste of sprinkled parsley and leafy fresh sweet basil. Porches egg was perfectly cooked. Cajun tomato sauce was seasoned, not spicy. Not sure of the "pork" part of it, close as I can share somewhat of a ground up pork cutlet. Not much of a bang but didn't matter because the fresh shrimp made up for it. A must try. Husband had the Southern BLT, a non egg bacon sandwich. Husband says the bacon was thicker slices and very tasty. Lettuce balanced to sandwich, says the tomato tasted farm fresh and full flavored. His only downside is he did not care for the thicker bread slice. Too filling for the sandwich. Our pancake was excellent. Slightly crispy at the edge- not over cooked- pancake was fluffy, not mushy, nice even flavor of buttermilk and vanilla. The syrup was omg good! Daughter had the seasonal Apple Pie Pancake and I did take a taste of a very tasty thick sausage link, yummy! She enjoyed her apple pie filing type of topping but plate was easily a plate for 2! For a person that don't eat meat every thing had pork in it. I ask for shrimp and grits and it also came with pieces of pork.

OMG I've been wanting to come here for some time now. My daughter and I visited here recently and we absolutely loved it. We enjoyed Swt Heat Chicken and French Toast Bites, a combination of Egg Benedicts which were Eggs Blackstone & chicken St. Charles (which is enough for 2), Mimosas, Peach Bellini (it was strong). The restaurant is so cute with these high seating booths and cute decor. The waitress was so sweet and helpful with us making menu decisions. I loved it here and will definitely be back. read more

Looking for a breakfast, brunch spot, and found this jewel. Love the simple, yet comfortable atmosphere. Our waitress/bartender? ( wish I remembered her name) was great! Friendly and energetic, and when she couldn't get back to our table, she sent another waitress with extra drinks. This is not a fast food joint, so in true Southern tradition, sit back, relax and enjoy. Don't be running off, have another mimosa. Food was hot and fresh. I will say being able to be put on the wait list ahead of time is a great feature. Loved it, no wait. My food was decent, cold but decent. The atmosphere is fine. But this isn't Ruby Slipper tier. I am so disappointed in this franchise so far. I don't live in New Orleans but i always visit Ruby Slipper when i go, food is hot, delicious and worth the wait. The drinks are strong and the staff is friendly. The place is booming but you feel right at home. Like a crowded kitchen table at your grandmas house with all of your cousins. Ruby Sunshine is honestly like after your grandma died and your cousin tried to recreate the magic. Everything is just off. The magic isn't there and you feel out of place, and you never want to go there again. I guess i want something from this franchise that I'm not going to get. It feels so manufactured, like drive thru soul food. If i wasn't comparing this place to its big sister i would maybe like it more, but i can't help but think that if you fell in love with Ruby Slipper and thought you were going to have a similar experience closer to home than you are also going to be disappointed. First time here, nothing was very good. Boozy iced coffee tasted like milk and vodka, "award winning" Bloody Mary was drinkable, but not great. Candied bacon bites were okay, but I wouldn't get them again. Sausage gravy was oily and bland, cheese eggs looked like they'd been sitting under a warming light, fried chicken tasted like it was frozen from sams club and the the fried green tomato was likewise flavorless. Wonderful place. Service is awesome. Quick and complete. I had the Southern breakfast; Bacon, eggs, grits and biscuit with some very tasty honey butter. My husband and I decided to try Ruby Sunshine for brunch after church. Although the wait was long it was well worth it!! The staff were very friendly. We only had a problem with a girl behind the bar who completely ignored serving us. The Hostess came to our rescue and made us a fabulous Bloody Mary!! The food is delicious. Would not go here again. Today was my first time at the 280 location. We were sat right away but after we ordered are food it took an hour to get to us and they forgot our appetizer. Waiter didn't pay much attention to us. When our food finally came out it wasn't even hot it was barely warm and some of it was cold. Our waiter also wasn't very friendly. read more

My wife and I had breakfast at the Ruby Sunshine on 280 on Sunday the 14 th. The waitress was very nice and helpful. This is our second time having breakfast with them. Our food was bad the first time we ate there a few days after they opened . We said we wouldn't go back but decided to give them another try. Our eggs benedict was terrible. The sauce was bad and on a biscuit and not an English muffin had bacon instead of canadian bacon. We're done with them. read more

The staff was friendly and attentive, gave good recommendations and paid attention to allergies which is often rare. However, the chicken for the Chicken St Charles was over cooked to almost burnt. And because they used very cold plates, the food got cold really fast. The flavor of most of it was good though. Just needed to be refined a bit. read more

We've been wanting to try this place since it opened, so we got there right at 7:30. We were seated quickly and put in drink orders. Our family ordered various items from the menu-cinnamon swirl pancakes, breakfast tacos, breakfast sandwiches, and eggs cochon. Food came out quickly, but did not look appetizing. Breakfast tacos had nothing but egg and the smallest bite of avocado. Zero taste. The breakfast sandwiches were also very bland. The pancake was the best thing, but cold. My sons grits were so cold that the cheese they put on top (to make them "cheese grits") didn't even melt. Portions are also very tiny. I've eaten at the Ruby Sunshine (called Ruby Slipper) in NOLA and it wasn't great, but much better than this location. read more

We have been looking for a restaurant like this for a long time. There is a great selection of New Orleans inspired brunch dishes. My wife had white chocolate pancakes and I had the Trifecta (three different Eggs Benedicts). Both of us had more than we could eat, and everything was delicious. I did a solo visit on a Saturday for brunch. I feel sitting at the bar is much more convenient and I'm not occupying a table/booth that can accommodate more but I had to stand around and wait on people to get their table so I could get a seat. It would be nice if they didn't allow people to use the bar as a waiting area and delay people wanting to eat at the bar. I order the shrimp and grits which were more runny then creamy but the taste of the sauce made them better, the French taste bites were not the beat. The mimosa was pretty good and the service at the bar was great. 50/50 chance I'll return to try something different. Thanks read more

First visit! Was greeted warmly from the very start, and I don't just mean my server, or the host; every employee I crossed paths with was warm and inviting. Sarah (amazing!) did a great job explaining the menu, offering suggestions, and everything we ordered was delicious, on time, and accurate. We sat for quite a while after the meal (well before closing and not too busy), and Sarah continued to make sure we were doing fine; Cornelius, the assistant manager, came out to see how everything was as well. Super nice guy! You really couldn't ask for more from a restaurant experience, and I certainly don't require it to be that positive to warrant a return visit. I worked in restaurants for 10 years front of house; it takes effort, a solid team, and good environment to offer that level of service, especially when it's not overly busy (Monday 10am).
